Can you help me with my rubber plant leaves are curling inward I have a grow light 4 , for hours in the day nothing is helping could you tell me what I'm doing wrong it has a bottom watering container I watered all my plants from thank you
@@lindajackson8068 that normally means a plant isn’t getting enough water. Could be another stress though. Check for bugs and disease and have a look at the roots
I think I like this guy's videos the best. He is succinct and clear with his instructions. He doesn't ramble on like some of the other RU-vid Plant Gurus. 👍🏻👍🏻
This is one the first videos where I've noticed that his speaking cadence is more natural, varied, and less sing-songy. Brilliant! That was the only thing needed for him to change these to 5-star videos!! Delighted! Thanks for the wonderful video and the excellent quality, mate! All the best ☮️💙💛🌱🌱🌱
Such clear and concise information, so glad I've come across your channel and me also being a Brit know all too well the struggles with the lack of natural light. Especially in my apartment. Subbed!
Great informative video thank you , I will definitely use your tips. My palms have also benefited from a regular fine misting of tepid spring water ( which mimics the rainforest) 👍.
I always thought a really cool invention would be a solar powered tray that would daily slowly revolve in a complete rotation...to encourage symmetrical growth
Yes I agree with them- thats a million dollar, possibly even an "in the airplane seatpocket catalogue" idea- you should at least claim that idea w/patent office, and quickly!!
First time viewer to your channel. I learnt a lot and will be back. I want to learn about what fruit trees can grow in the UK too, not sure if you cover trees though.
Beginner for mostly succulents, we really find your videos helpful. I just watched one that mentioned mentioned a link for a hygrometer we could order from you. Help I missed the link and can't find it again....?
Thanks again for your wonderful videos. Instead of a safety pin I use a hair pin (not a bobbie pin) That is lot easier to use and cost lot less. Hugs 🙂
Hi, you inspired me to finally install growlight, but - a question I do not find answered: I have a lot paintings (art) around, does growlight damage/ lighten colours of near paintings on the wall ? Hope someone here has an answer 😊, thanx a lot!
Interesting question. I would say if your light is shining directly on the painting then it will cause fading since it is replicating UV light. If indirect I would say you’re alright
@@SheffieldMadePlants Such a helpful video, have given a thanks! Talking of growlights, do you have any recommendations for specific ones or tips for what to look for? I've scanned through some of your videos but can't see any obvious ones so far... I'm in the UK too & have bought some lights on Amazon but am not sure every growlight on there is really a true one or has the right UV qualities to actually make it useful to a plant!
@@alexconsuelo yes I saw very generous thank you. I have a link to SANSI in my video descriptions and you can get 15% off. They sell a grow bulb you can plug into an existing lamp or those dedicated clamp on lights. They do good lights either way.
I’m learning so much and I need to make some changes! But I’m having a difficult time finding pots without drainage holes in the bottom. Where do you find yours? Thank you so much :)
How are we supposed to bottom water plants like Thai constellation monstera? It's basically living in bark and clay pebbles. Don't think it would work?
So I can't repot often, I have limited space and to some degree I have the pots I have now. So what can you do then? I know not to cut the roots but maybe?
It is very hard to kill that plant, not one to worry about. Also, with the cuttings growing fast, you will have backups already growing within a week of cutting them
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you explain things so well and don't play any stupid music while I watch what you're doing and have tons of questions!!!! 🙏
I literally shed a tear while pruning my tradescantia yesterday lol because it looked so pretty! but I knew it was the right thing to do. This video makes me feel so much better 😅
I’ve always used paper clips. Large plant, large clip, etc. Bend them open so only one loop of clip goes over plant and the rest will go deep in the flower pot. I love plants and flowers inside and outside. You can root some outside things by pulling a branch to the ground and laying a brick on it. Kinda the same technique.
I have been pinning my plant nodes to the soil for years, but I was using hair Bobby pins that would be rough on the stems even when I bent them open, but I will start using safety pins because it seems less damaging. Thanks for the alternative.👍👍👍
This is a fantastic video! Solves so many problems that I've been worried about for several years. The video is instructive, informative, clear, and thoughtful.
This is amazing for someone that has not had plants and no idea how to take care of them. Great practical advice with explanations that make sense. Thank you so much.
Yes 🙌 I never really had house-plants, Dec-2020 After my daddy passed away I brought a lucky bamboo 🎍 surprisingly it's still living I have had some bad times with. They was a lot of times I thought it was dying. I did everything I could finally it gotten better and bigger. I have now gotten few other plants. I'm glad i found this channel few months ago. He has helped me learn so much more
I came to this video after watching a more recent one of yours, and it's funny to see that you've now debunked the rotating and annual repotting points. I'm starting out and have been developing a sense about my plants. I have a few adjustments I need to do now after watching some of your videos, but I really thank you for all of this information. Even when you later debunk or correct yourself, I love it, because it shows you are learning and growing, and that you are open to different ideas from what you've been previously taught. Great job!
I remove the dead leaves and prune all the time. I don't like mine bushy though. I just take the pruned leaves and put them in water to grow roots and plant new ones from the stems I pruned.
@@Jiesta1256 I usually have all 3 on hand, so I’ll definitely use paper clips next time I run out of Bobby pins 🤗 never thought of trying those before!
I began saving water from steaming/simmering spring vegetables like spinach or asparagus, letting the water cool, and watering my sad ferns with it. They were sulking due to poor care previous to coming to me, and have responded with massive growth. Thank you for this tip which you shared either here or in another of your many videos!
What do you think of an idea where you can provide plant care services when people go for vacations/hometowns. You pick the plants, take care of them and drop it when they are back
Just found this site today. Does anyone know of a site/source that is reputable for obtaining lot's of different cuttings to start houseplants at a fair price or plant swap? Would love to start growing new varieties.
I have no leafs left on rosemary, but it is alive as I checked the stems and they are alive. Had to cut the 3 stems it had to the half As the plant was devastated before from overheat. Checked the roots and repoted the rosemary before hand.
how do i keep my bush lush and healthy i normally shampoo and conditioner it but it still seems a bit wirey, as you are a plant genius i was hoping it would translate to bush care. Thank you
New subscriber!!!! Ty! I replanted one of my wandering jews and the new plant just thrived and looks beautiful but the original looks scraggly! Now i see the importance of pinning!!! Ty so much!
Help! I have been growing pothos for DECADES. Now they are ailing! I have given them light ....not directly but cannot figure this out. I have fed them but no real improvement.😢
I'm loving the channel, learning so much, thank you! But as your thinking has developed I've noticed on this vid a couple of tips you're more recently recommending against... re-potting every spring and rotating plants weekly. But I'm watching them all, so will keep up with the latest thinking 😊. Great content, thank you, I really like your presentation style and humour, and LOVE your dining room plant window!

What should I do about repotting if I can't move a plant up a size? Basically, if every plant I owned moved into a bigger pot each year, I'd end up having to buy new, bigger decorative pots each year and the small pots would end up empty or I'd have to buy new small plants. Either outcome has me quickly running out of space and my other half quickly running out of patience. So is there a way to repot into the same size pot or otherwise limit growth? Can I trim roots back? Will careful pruning achieve this?
Can u please guide me as i have recently bought a peace lily and a palm from the shop. I have kept them indoors but close to a window with indirect sunlight. My palm leave are starting to burn on the edges and my peace lily has started getting yellow leaves. My confusion is that I have bought a plastic planter and i have put the already potted peace lily and palm inside them, so basically two planters… can this be the reason of these plants not thriving.
