I had 2 bottles of YSL Ultime, little did I knew they were going to discontinue it. I loved it, it was mi signature scent for spring and summer. As he describes it was alluring and classy, it got me tons of compliments.

Desirtoxic is indeed Layton's cousin, a distant one, but theres no denying theyre related. As to which cousin is better is upto you but i also would choose to be Desirtoxic over the other. Thanks for this recommendation JC. 40 knots really is interesting but its difficult to choose one from the brand as its blend reliant when its easier for me to pick one based on the hero note :)

L’homme Ultime got me a compliment from a group of 3 girls, I was at job I went to the back and sprayed HU on me and they said wow your perfume smell so good and asked to see the bottle

L’Homme Ultime is one of my all time, top 10s, forever and always. It’s the only fragrance I’ve emptied a bottle of (good thing I have a few backups). It’s gorgeous on its own, if you’re into layering, it goes so well with so many others. Brilliant list, as always, Justin!!!!

Fougere D'Argent is right there with Reflection 45 as among my very favorite fragrances in my collection. Always garners positive attention no matter where I wear it. Definitely interested to try Egypt now. I find a lot of cardamom forward fragrances to be very alluring. In this vein, Soul Batik by Moresque is another one that has that alluring quality to it.

Scientific study or not, in my experience with fragrances and my little knowledge of most cultures, fragrances set the stage and enhance romance and thus pave way for sexual and romantic encounters. Thanks for bringing this up, J. C.

Lhomme Ultime is my fav YSL. Something about that rose in it and its not feminine. Always garners compliments at work on dates or running around. I think its versatile. Gravitas smells dated along with its brother Bon Viveur IMO. I got told i smelt like an old man wearing both. Im 48. Honestly i agree and sold both after a few months. Nothing modern smelling in either of them. Classic scents shouldnt smell like mothballs lol

JC, you hit on some goods ones with this review. Its funny cuz I was just trying to figure out which one I liked more between YSL L'Homme Ultime or just YSL L'Homme and I have to say for not smelling either one of these for quite some time I must say that YSL L'Homme just made me fall in love with it all over again. Don't get me wrong, L'Homme Ultime is 🔥 to but this may be crazy to say but I think I like YSL L'Homme even more than I do the Holy Grail, La Nuit De L'Homme. I can't really explain why but I just do. I mean I will always and I mean always love LNDLH but you should give YSL L'Homme a smell again cuz I'm willing to vet that it's been awhile for you?!? Seriously, check it out cuz you just might be pleasantly surprised! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have definitely tried Royale X and XXX and love them both. They have a lot of allure for sure and surprisingly easy to wear as well. Ultime is a beautiful scent that I actually just sprayed while watching this as well. Will have to give more of the other scents a try (have tried Gravitas as well). Knew desirtoxic was coming :), layton is a fragrance i absolutely love so i decided to get a sample, first wearing was a bit too much for me up close very herbal and even slightly smoky. Gave it a full wearing and i get it now, smells amazing in the air smells very much like the bottle looks :)

Very interesting video. I smelled H24, but I need a full wearing because it just didn't move me as say the original Terre or the Eau Givree. I did like the EDP more as I didn't care much for the metallic sharpness in the EDT. Fougere D' Argent mesmerized me! If I had smelled it at the time I got Beau De Jour I would have picked it up for sure, but I don't recall seeing it at the time. Of the YSL Homme series, I have to say my favorite on first sniffing was Bleu Electrique (could be the cardamom - geranium mix). Have to try the rest next chance I have.

signature royale x is a great signature. easily one of the best "manly signature scent" frags ive came across lately. its dressed up, dressed down, modern, easy to wear in any occasion and any weather, day or night and best of all has a sexiness to it which most signature scents cant accomplish. what did people ask you about them? lol

I much prefer the parfum. It's more complex and smells of higher quality. It's also much more expensive though. If you want to spend that kind of money, go right ahead! It's worth the money tbh

As good as the original YSL L'Homme is, reformulation has murdered the performance/quality, so I can't recommend that anyone buy a bottle that is less than 5-7 years old or so. That said, L'Homme Ultime is probably the best of the entire L'Homme line, IMO. Performance is great, and it can still be found quite easily for reasonable prices. I generally very much dislike the note of rose, but it is AMAZING in Ultime. Top 10 all-time for me.

JC, with so many fragrances and continuous new releases, how do we know when we've found "the one" that can be our signature scent? Is it possible to commit to just one or maybe several fragrances and to stop looking for the next best fragrance?!

You are asking the top existential question of this space. The answer I’ve come to in my time here is simple: We will never find “the one”. As long as you’re continually smelling new fragrances, and are interested in smelling newer fragrances, the journey does not stop unless you force it to. I try to be very transparent in my content about this. The best advice I can give you is to slow down! There is no hurry.

To me, Royale X and XXX smell very different. I love Royale X, it's one of the sexiest "fresh" smelling fragrances I've put my nose on. It's got that "fresh outta the shower" vibe with an undercurrent of musky sexiness, which I know is exactly what Mr. Zaharoff was going for. XXX, on the other hand, I don't like. It's just way too musky and dirty smelling to me, without the attractive freshness. I know lots of people like it, but my nose finds nothing good smelling about it, unfortunately. It just smells dirty and not attractive at all on my skin. Hoping with time this will change, but for now it's a no-go for me.
