Rather than bringing a night light, I just turn on the cabin tv to the Bow Cam station and turn the sound down. At night it's black out there, but the black pixels on screen give just enough light to see by all night. Bonus here is that if you are in an inside cabin it works like a window. So as the sun comes up in the morning the room gets a little brighter just like a regular room.
Make sure you pack your antibacterial wipes in your carry on! That way you can wipe everything down before you even unpack. Don't forget the remote and the phone!!
Also helps when flying to/from the port in the USA, I've had to pull power packs and electronics out of the carry-on sometimes but TSA never makes me take them out of the packing cube as long as they can see through the mesh front what's inside and I can quickly stick it back into the carry-on.
One thing we bring with us, especially if we have an inside cabin, is a small box fan. We found a nice one at Walmart. It was great having the air "churn". Love all your tips!!
I always recommend this over the laundry bag hack: simply user your empty suitcase for laundry. Especially if you're like me and have a 27" or larger that generally can't fit under the bed. It can tuck into corners and if you just leave the top section slightly unzipped, you can toss your dirty laundry in there.
We bring “Poo-pourri” brand spray with us every time we travel and at home. It’s designed to spray into the water in the toilet bowel and then you can do your business with no odors. It really works great. In the U.S you can buy it in stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Ulta, QVC, Target (in the candle aisle) and many other stores. They even have a tiny stick spray for your purse.
Amazon sells laundry bags with shoulder straps. Even says dirty laundry on the bag. Most USB ports have lights that double as a night light. Amazon also sells a very well built plastic pocket/vinal organizer with 10 pockets on both sides, on a very strong hanger.
I am bringing a few clothes pins and a refillable travel container with some laundry detergent. Our shower in our cabin has a clothesline, so I can hand wash a few things if needed.
I will be going on my very first cruise and decided on Alaska. Been watching lots of Cruising video's and must say you guys have one of the better and more entertaining Cruising video's. Yes Best 👍🏼
I love the tips, I also run around the room wiping all the surfaces down with antibacterial wipes. Plus I wipe down the hotel room the night before the cruise, why start off sick from the get go. Keep up the good work for us.
Great tips.. leaving in about 10 days and always like to refresh my memory of what to bring. One thing you didnt mention that I always like to bring (maybe just me) is ear plugs. My daughter can snore and last time we were on the ship we're sailing on soon, the cabin really creaked during some rougher seas (I like to feel the ocean but not hear the cabin if it sounds like it's struggling to stay together, lol).. Love your vlogs... keep them up!
You two are AWESOME! I can't decide what I loved best about this video...your entertaining delivery, all the awesome tips, or your quick pace...ALL AWESOME! Thank you!
Love you guys! We just put our dirty laundry right into our suitcases under the bed. A little fabreeze and we are good to go. We also bring a foldable bag to carry out our pj's and toiletries on departure day. We always set aside our departure clothing. Wouldn't want to have to get off the ship in our jammies.
We're gonna be a family of three in one stateroom on our cruise next month. Clutter makes me twitchy, so these tips are 😘. BTW, "the flap" is called a bed skirt.😜
OMG 🤣 feeling up the room and wiping down the knobs! I just love you guys, thanks for the great tips! We are going on our first cruise this year and your videos have been extremely helpful.
I have a pop-up basket for my dirty clothes. Norwegian's studio cabins are tiny, but it fit perfectly in the narrow spot between the head of bed and closet. I would recommend anyone using this idea for a studio cabin be very careful about the size since the area is narrow. Some round pop-up hampers are too round, too large of diameter, for that space. I bought a magnetic nightlight too before my transatlantic cruise. The studio cabins have very little space for magnetic walls since the back side is pretty much all bath and closet space while the front side is toilet on one side of cabin door and a padded wall on the other side above the bed. There’s a space between the cabin door and wall padding that was one of only magnetic spots I found. I also used packing cubes, but I couldn’t unzip them and have them ready. Because the shelf and storage area was so tiny, it worked better for me to keep them zipped, grab the needed ones, and re-stack everything once done. I don’t wear makeup, but I have a few cosmetics bags. These work perfectly for me like mini packing cubes. On my last cruise, I found it best to pack all my Apple accessories into one pouch and other tech accessories into another pouch since I have too many for one pouch. It worked so well that it’s now probably going to be my standard method for any trip. Sorry if I sound like I’m complaining about the studio cabins. I’m not. They’re tiny is all, and different techniques might work better in that particular space than in another cabin type. Another tip is that at least on the Epic, the studio cabins have a basket under the bed. This could be used for organizing clothes, and without a cover, it could be easier to slide in and out from under the bed than a suitcase would be to get what’s needed.
Love you videos. We are avid cruiser. Been doing this since the 80’s. Would like to see more videos about: how to get a passport, global entry and pre-check, visas and what cost and what countries, excellent mid range hotels for embarkation, Successful travelers plan everything Linda&Harold. Ps. Illegal things go into your luggage. I know people that cruise with THC for pain as candy and they never have had a problem. Also, vaping is accepted and CAN be done in your cabin and on your balcony as well as outdoors. These are my experiences with 7 cruises in the last 2 yrs
Great video we love packing cubes too! Thanks for the tip for checking our flaps, looking for secret holes and we will be definitely start bringing antibacterial wipes to clean our knobs! Fun video with some fab tips 😁
How cute , when you come to America you visit Bath & Body Works! Definitely bring the Lysol mini spray & B&B room spray on a cruise! Good tips but I am jealous of those rooms shown, definitely the suites or very high end ships!
Don't forget if you put you stuff in the hiding places, remember they are there. Don't leave things behind! I made a checklist with a box for quantity, a box to check once its packed for the cruise and a third for when its packed to go home. I found mini flashlights that are about the size of a credit card at the Dollar store.
Forget the tips, you guys make the show. Be proud of who you are. You both are amazing. I did enjoy the bathroom spray tip. I can't believe the designers don't put exhaust fans in the bathroom.
I am loving your cruise vlogs this summer. Both of you are so informative. Thank you for all the wonderful videos. Oh, and I love that you drink on your cruises. I love having a cocktail and relaxing everyday on the cruise.
Great Video...the pop up laundry baskets was great on our first cruise...plus makes in easy to go clean your clothes before you get home...because no one likes to have dirty clothes when they get home.
Another tip is to take some clothespins with you. We use them to hang our wet bathing suits in the shower on the small clothesline that is in there. Thanks for under the bed tip. I've been on numerous cruises and not once thought about under the bed.
I understand that some antibacterial wipes can get rid of norovirus unlike most wipes. I think they are going in my backpack to wipe down the door handles, remote, sink handles, toilet etc.
I use a nightlight with motion sensor and position it so that it comes on when either of us get up. It stays on for just a fe seconds but long enough to get to the bathroom.
Loved this video... Not only was it really useful but you were so naughty! Tongue in cheek of course! We’ll definitely be looking for secret storage and polishing our knobs!!
We always take a can of Dettol anti-bacterial spray with us on our cruises and spray the cabin when we first get on board, including door handles, tv remote control, and cushions on the bed to get rid of any germs. The cushions in particular don’t look like they are changed every time new passengers go in the cabins. We then leave the cabin for an hour to dry off before we unpack.
Hi, David and Ben: I'm planning on cruising with my sister, in September; and I've booked an interior cabin for this cruise with Twin beds. How would I arrange the beds in the cabin so that there is more space for both she and I. Any advice you could provide me with, would be welcome and greatly appreciated.-Thank you
you little devil...you HAD to mention that there's monsters under the bed! hahahaha......One tip you may find useful for the midnight trips to the washroom...pack a pkg of glow sticks (found at any dollar store) and pack an empty water bottle. Before bed, fill the water bottle with tap water and place a glow stick in it and secure the cap of the bottle. The gentle glow of light from the bottle will be easy on your eyes in the washroom and not wake up your room mates. :) Simply repeat the process the next night with a fresh glow stick.
Hi Guys... Love the the tips. Can you please post the links for the cubes and the outlet extender was hat is approved. Love your accents especially knobs😊
Great tips👍🏽. It’s amazing how people don’t look under the bed and use the space for suitcases, especially for people who live out of them (they don’t unpack). It also makes your cabin steward’s job easier when they don’t have to dodge all your stuff. ‼️One more tip. Remember to check all those hidden storage places when you’re packing at the end of the cruise. It’s sooooo easy to forget what you don’t see 😭.
We have a matched set of suitcases so the smaller one fits inside the larger one and so far they've fitted into the wardrobe, standing up under the shirts and shorter hanging items.
