lmaooo, I've been mostly skate tranny recently so my flatground tricks are kinda falling off but i can do shovit, fs 180, rock fakie, fakie rock fakie, feeble, and 50 50
Here’s my skater vs hater video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mwA-xm44dBk.html it’s up to you if you wanna put this your compilations
@@aidendawn5151 Once you can start riding around comfortably, I believe you should be able to get tricks down more efficiently, so you got nothing to worry about buddy. Shred it!
I´ve got a board, No helmet (Cant afford one), no friends to ride with and the asphalt is...pooor... Hooray for me! haha So I found an abandoned building where I skate. Creepy as hell, but works.
@@TheAscendedSun You're going to look back and regret wasting so many missed opportunities to talk to and meet so many incredible and life changing people. Social anxiety generally wears off with age, but your youth should be the most experimental and most enjoyable time of your life! Freedom to do whatever. Make the most of it! Push the anxiety to one side and realise that there's so much more to human contact than anxiety! YOU GOT THIS
The people at the park are super nice 90% of the time, I promise. Most people will always give at least a few minutes to help. Try to remember they'll probably be enthusiastic to help next time you're at the park. It helped with my social anxiety.
i’m just scared that i’ll be seen as a poser when i’m actually just trying but a noob and i literally JUST started but i don’t know much about the skater community yet.
ANTHONY IVOVIC lol no I just started. I don’t TELL people i’m very good or smth, I wear Vans bc I had those before i started skating and Iike the shoes but I don’t want to come off as poser lmao
Just go out and try to learn I felt the exact same way because I had a setup that made me look like a poser but I just kept skating wherever and I realized nobody said anything about me being a poser except my friends
So the other day I was just skating and this kid from my grade drove by and yelled out his window, “DO A KICKFLIP!” Like, is that the only trick non-skaters know? Anyways, I straight up said no with a straight face and kept skating. He then yelled poser and I just laughed.
The whole “you might hurt yourself” really isn’t something you should worry about unless it’s neck or head. My first day of actual skating, I fell down some stairs at my school and broke my tailbone and it hurt like hell but in a month it healed and I bounced right back
Man between rollerblading in summer and snowboarding in winter I think I had a broken/bruised tailbone for 3 years😂 I'm still terrified to fall skateboarding though, seems like people get such worse injuries. Plus blood freaks me out lmao
So another thing about getting hurt is progression, you cant do anything first try perfectly, I was terrified going down a small ramp for the first time today. I fell, but I just laughed about it, its okay to fall, just dont get caught over falling. Also you have to slowly work up too. What I did is to build up trusts for ramps is slowly make bigger and bigger turns until I felt safe enough to go down the small ramp, then worked up to bigger ramps. But now I need to learn to do kickturns and maybe start practicing ollie. I prefer going at a faster then normal pace but if you feel uncomfortable. Its ok to back out, just try to work up to it and you can achieve it, also recommend wearing a helmet. I know this is a year old comment but Im pretty new.
Heres a tip I taught myself: if your just starting to grind down or across rails but are afraid of falling on them and it demolishing you genitals then find a rail and before you grind it just step over it and make sure theres plenty of room between the bar and your sTufF👍
Bro the rolled socks tip saved my life been skating for years but never exactly had the funds to go buy some nice high tops so my ankle is constantly bruised and that tip really helped
@@Patec. i work at zumiez and have been skateboarding for 13 years. but i get your point, a lot of employees dont skate and have no clue about what they are selling.
most of those are from people that aren't ready for those tricks and hurt themselfs stupidly, but if you really want some nice falls go to Hall of meat by thrasher. Seriously though if you want to skate you 110% need to expect to get scars tweaked ankles and wrists road burn maybe even the good old credit cards here and there if you ever want to get better.
My younger sister is trying and she’s scared to go to the skatepark because she thinks she’ll get made fun of but I told her that no one does that and the only way I improved so quickly was because I went to the skate park.
I've always been interested but never got the hang of riding the board as a kid and the fact skateboarding wasn't a big thing in my country. Then I moved to the US and now it's possible to get a decent board
@@poser_skateboarder889 the anxiety is pretty pointless as the community isn't really toxic as it's good to see more people get into skateboarding and all skaters know what it's like to be a beginner at skating and going to the park with no or little experience on a board and an example of this is me as I get very nervous when it comes to riding my skateboard to the skatepark but no one really cares if you're beginner at skateboarding
I personally think it's because a show called Betty or skate kitchen....which are great great shows....and i think it's great, good that girls wanna skate now....and I personally think girls are better at skating than guys...oh and I'm a guy btw✌
When I skate I see a lot of begginers strugglings with their tricks and NOT ASKING FOR HELP !!! To all the begginers , skaters are very nice people and they will give you very good tips 🙌🏽 so don't worry nobody will judge you
skated since i was 6, stopped skating 2012, woke up yesterday, and felt damn i really wanna skate, today i woke up with a cast, i blew up my elbow while doin rockiefakie and 50-50 on a mini ramp, i got a wheel bite, and took all my weight+ the hight of the fall to my hand/wrist, but i somehow blew my elbow
Not too old. I started at age 50, 2 years ago. I met a lady in another video's comment section who started at 56 and is already popping some ollies. We do have to be more concerned about falls, but we also pay our own health insurance, so it evens out.
TheOne GCG dude same I live in Hawaii and am in middle school so there aren’t many people who skate and there are a lot of people who say they skate but really dont
Converse are great to skate with, don't worry about it. He's giving advice about how the shoes age long-term for people doing a lot of technical tricks. In general canvas shoes can tear, and the toe caps make it more difficult for some people to flick in various flip tricks. But it's not impossible, just general advice. Plenty of pro skaters in canvas shoes but they have to replace them every month or less.
I grew up in martial arts and one of the first things they teach you is how to fall. It's a constant learning thing too in martial arts. You can even ask a gymnast how to fall. There's a specific method for every single direction or anything you might have to do. It saved me from a lot of injuries on the board
@ANTHONY IVOVIC guess what idiot it's the fact that where I live people don't know shit about skateboarding and it's pretty much non-existent there, why are they going to have skateshops or skate parks when nobody knows about it?
“Ride with friends.” Me: Has all my friends say no to learning to skate with me, ontop of not knowing anyone in my area who skates. On top of not having any skate park near me. Man. Weymouth really does suck 😂.
i fell today and jammed my ankle pretty good. but i was super stoked that i was still aware enough to tuck my head when i heard my board rolling back down the quarter pipe on the other side of what i was doing. don't have razor tail yet but i definitely saved myself a deck to the head and for that i am grateful.
It's 2021 and I'm turning back to skating, I used to be really good but stopped awhile ago. This has been the most resourceful video I have ever watched.
Honestly, learning how to fall is a really important thing because you don't wanna seriously injure yourself when trying new tricks or stunts. This is coming from experience as I lost control of my board yesterday and if I didn't fall as ok as I did, I would've hurt myself alot more than I did
This video actually helped me out a lot. I've been skating for about 3 months, I'm still trying to to learn manuals and shuv-its. I live in Baltimore and I skate around almost every day
the local skate shop is the best option. The boards are good and really help people. I’m a beginner and when i asked them to repair one of my parts they replaced the parts for me and it was all free. They really do value customers over money.
8:16....so not true sadly. :/ I feel so judged by em bcz first I'm not that good (YET) second I am a girl :/. Most ppl assume every girl is a poser -.- I was at the skatepark with a friend after we finally had the guts to go to the skatepark. My city has the biggest skatepark in the whole country and until then we practiced for some months in park lots and parks mostly at night so we won't get made fun of and to have peace and quite. Anyways we finally had the guts to go the skatepark and realized it wasn't as bad as we thought . A couple of weeks later and we were still struggling with the drop in. (I still am lol) So we went up to this guy who we thought was really good...and wanted to ask for advice(he's probably over 20). The second we approuched him(he was smoking) without us even saying anything he goes " I don't have cigarettes " I looked at my friend and decided that idc about hearing any advice anymore, but she still asked. He just looked really annoyed and then eventually answered the question but vaguely. So yeah...now we avoid asking the "pros" anything.
Scarlett I’m sorry you had that experience. Yeah, some skaters think they’re the greatest to ever step on a board and they feel the need to be arrogant douchebags. Trust me, we’re not all like that and I’m sure you’ll meet a nice helpful skater someday. I’ve met more nice ones than mean ones
We're do u live cause if u near Lathrop and go to the plaza there no one at that park and when there is they will actually help u if u need it they have helped me before
Skaters are hella intimidating so I can see your point. When I was first starting, I’d walk up to the skate park at night and practice when no one was there. I high-key could’ve gotten arrested every single night but it was worth it. I eventually learned how to drop in and that gave me more confidence to go up during the day.
I was only learning from youtube till a few days ago 'tilI met a gardener who was actually into skateboarding so he help me and give some tips and I could really saw the improvement even though I'm just a beginner.
Excellent video. So well said also. I’m 59 years old and I used to ride on clay wheels. I still ride long boards because I’m afraid of pain. I would love to get one of those freestyle boards and learn because now they finally have skate parks such as the one where I live in Concord California.
bruh I’m looking at so much. My local skate shop used to have skateboards but now just have bikes :(. But I’m fine with since I’m to nervous to do go up anyway.
Zumiez is decent at heart but some just had experience with employees who couldn't even put the griptape on right so it just got bad rep. If you're desperate or beginner, sure, otherwise try online or other locals
I'm an old-school skater decided to go to my local skate shop pick me up a nice new board longboard now but it was really fun to watch your episode I even shared it yes I liked and subscribed it's fun to just to reiterate the energy and the fun of skateboarding thank you.
I acually didnt know any type of skate shop in my area until like a week ago so I've been riding a Walmart skateboard for like 3 months and it's worked out for me
I got my board from Route One, as a complete beginner who knew nothing about skating outside of Bam Margera/Jackass, The Simpsons and playing Tony Hawk's Underground as a kid. The guys there were really cool and I'm really happy with what I got. They custom built everything for me for 69.90 and they told me about some indoor skate parks for when the drizzly British weather gets in the way, although they tend to have an entry fee. They have some Misfits themed decks shaped like coffins that I wanna save up and get later when I'm more experienced.
Jokes on you my gf is a great skate boarder so I don’t need to go up to strangers at the skate park 😎 (She also does parkour so she’s pretty good at falling right (: )
So I love that I just got my first board and less than 3 hours after having it ridable I give myself a minor fracture in my elbow while trying to see what stance I might be. Thankfully I only plan on using mine as a commuter for the time being. Just letting my arm heal before I try again so I don't worsen the situation.
You should make a video for someone who’s already to the point of learning flip tricks, a bit more advanced than a beginner...tips to help someone struggling with “harder” tricks
My first board came from the goodwill. It didn’t make it easy to learn bc the wheels had chunks taken outta them, waterlogged, bad bearings, bad trucks, and it was too big for me so I couldn’t turn left. Idek what to do with it but I’m happy that my mom got me a new one
As long as you know what your buying it doesn’t really matter where you get it as long as price difference isn’t stupid lol. I got a Baker deck from zumiez and it was good had no problems. Just depends on what you get
Ellot Washington ay, Can you come back to this video in a few weeks, I want to know how your complete holds up, Idk if i should buy one or buy the parts separately...
I just bought skateboard 🛹. Went from longboard if to a cruiser now this. The fun never ends. I definitely need to get some protective gear now though😊 thanks for the tips🙏
Thanks for the tips! I just started skating this summer and I’m not great yet XD but I’m trying my best. I’m terrified to go to a skate park bc there are a lot of really good skaters there and I’m very self conscious, but I’m getting there!✌🏻😁
I remember I went through a skateboarding phase about 2 years ago. I was horrible but I just started skating again today and I've had a lot of progress i wasn't able to on the street or anything else but when i started again i was able to push and ride around
I just want to address something. Dude said on Aug 1st 2019 the Skate or Die channel was at 20k subs. Today is Sept 2021….the channel now is closing in on 400k. Let that sink in… Congratulations! ✊🏽
I literally just bought my first skateboard off of Zumiez, because I don’t have a skateshop near me at all. I spent $120 on it and it was an 8”. I bought a complete one, but I figured I’d work on the wheels and stuff. I don’t know if I should’ve bought from Zumiez or not.. your opinion would help a lot! :)
There's nothing wrong with boards from Zumiez. He's just saying to support your local skate shop if you have one and can. Ride that bad boy and buy your next one from wherever you want. My cruiser is from Zumiez and my trick board is from Boarders- both are chain stores at the mall, and I'll let you in on a secret- nobody knows, asks, or cares where I bought either of them. If some half-assed "skater" has time to police where everyone got their boards, then they can buy everyone new ones or actually get on their own boards and skate, like they should already have been doing.
Every board I've got from them, has snapped within a week. EV den the Baker deck I got from them. I always ride Baker/Deathwish, because they are really tough to break. So I was shocked the Baker from Zumiez broke that fast. I refuse to get anything from them, after 3 boards in a row, broke that quick
He is right about the protective gear making you more confident. Every time I step away from skateboarding for a little and come back, for the first two weeks of being back I wear protective gear. Just until I’m confident again.
i always wear knee pads they are literally the best thing ever like every time i don't wear knee pads i either ruin my pants or get a wound on my knee which is really annoying so i always wear them and they also help a lot when you bail and i am an intermediate skater so no shame in being safe and not getting little annoying wounds
