Final Fantasy Versus XIII, it was my most anticipated game for years ever since I first saw it. In the end in never came out and we got bastardized version of it called FF XV.
Project Re:Fantasy for sure, I'm reallyhoping for a persona like experience with social links or something like that set in a fantasy world, and well Persona 6 hasn't been announced yet and that's quite a big problem itself, like team ??? Hello ?? It's been 7 years guys what's going on?
Dude, I was so hyped for it. By the time it gets released, Final Fantasy XVI will be out. That game didn't even exist back then. I seriously hope Relink doesn't release close to XVI cause I feel XVI will overshadow Relink, even though Relink offers some great unique things that I'm looking forward to.
I really just want more news on the Dragon Quest games they have planned. Hopefully, the remake of 3 is some time this year. I'm also looking forward to the Granblue game. Can't believe you reminded me of Project: Awakening. Lol
I don't even know if I want to play this game anymore. A lot have in the video games world changed since its announcement in 2016. They have to make me love this again 😅

I’m so glad you say that! I see a lot of channels that ramble for 25 minutes about something that could be discussed in 4 minutes. It drives me nuts! And I also love reminding/ introducing new games so I’m happy to remind you of project awakening :D
With my backlog, waiting is no longer an issue for me anymore. Lol. FYI people! The JRPGs Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers and Saga Scarlet Grace Ambitions are HEAVILY discounted right now on PSN till 5/11/23. I’m going to pick up both. Everyone should give these gems a hard look at least.
Add another one to the list, fate/extra record was announced about 3 years ago and we still have no release date but at least we know it is not shelved and they are still working on it. The director also admitted that they announced the game too early and it will take some time before the game releases.
Little clarification for Project Awakening (that people might not know about): The game is being made along side the engine called Cyllista Game Engine. Theyre updating the engine as necessary to fit the game vision, adding new technology and making it easy to use for future projects using the engine Its not known if Granblue Fantasy Relink also using the engine since its development restart, which happened early 2019
I remember waiting years for Rogue Galaxy only to have it announced for Japan over a year before a US release. There's no way DQ 12 is 2023. We might get 3 around September, but with 16 soon, and 7 Rebirth coming whenever SE thinks winter is, my guess is 12 will be June of next year.
I can't wait for Dragon Quest 3 HD2D and i know i'm going out on a limb here but i hope DQ3HD2D adds some news classes and hoepfully keeps the extra stuff from the SNES version.
Man I'm really eager to get my hands on that dragon quest 3 remake. I was planning on diving into Dragon quest 1 - 3 but then they announced the remake and stated that if the dq3 remake does well they might remake first 2 games as well. So, I've been holding off ever since 😂
The wait for Trails Into Reverie is getting long, because they released Zero and Azure first, thankfully it will be here in a couple of months! Although Japan is so far ahead of us with the series.
I have hope. Kuro already had a Durante Japanese port shadowdropped on steam like they did with Nayuta. which NISA announced will become the official English one, so the announcement might not be that far off after Reverie.
I've been waiting for the "next stage" of Etrian Odyssey that Atlus teased 5 years ago. We're getting remasters but hopefully a new entry is still on its way.
Suikoden's Spiritual Successor, Eiyuuden Chronicle. And maybe Suikoden 1+2 Remaster and possibly Suikoden 6 announcement!?? I'm not that HUGE into Jrpgs but Suikoden is the most I'm interested in of the genre rn 😁
These were all on my list, but i also have Little Devil Inside, Ancient Abyss, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Where Winds Meet, Phantom Hellcat, Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes, Black Myth Wukong, Project GG, Rise of the Ronin and the JRPG I've been waiting for for almost 20 years: Level 5's Ushiro 🙈
Sometimes I see all the JRPG videos and comments from people who have been playing them for years and feel left out - but this video made me realize I have a lot to enjoy for the first time while these games take their time coming out lol
Isn't a JRPG but I remember a game called... WILD. It was like an open world RPG where you could posses the bodies of different animals and use their abilities. And don't make start with Scalebound... that canceled game from Platinum. Gosh... they were many interesting trailers but it's a shame some projects can't be achieved.
I was actually going to say this same comment, an I had to go look to see if I can add any new info. Was in development starting 2014 and in 2020 Michel Ancel, game designer/ director, announced his retirement. Saying the game would continue without him.
Cancelled and trademark abandoned. When a game gets cancelled, their trademark eventually gets abandoned. Microsoft renewed the trademark for Scalebound in May but it eventually died in the same year. Both Wild and Scalebound were _nowhere_ halfway close to completion when they were cancelled. Usually the alternate fate for cancelled games (not prototypes/pitches, but games that were in the middle of development) is development hell for too long. I think the reason why Platinum was dropped from Granblue Fantasy Relink was because Cygames figured that seeing Platinum bite more than they could possibly chew and how they were nowhere close to completion, it would've been much better to move it to Cygames Osaka as staying with Platinum would've been worse on the long run.
Project RE Fantasy is the one I'm curious about will it be similar to Persona 5 with gameplay or will it be an action RPG like Kingdom Hearts either way I just want to see gameplay for it.
Cygames established global presences for Shadowverse: Evolve (the physical TCG version of Shadowverse), more likely, so they can more easily manage events and distribution.
Been team Granblue Protocol for YEARS!!!! I cannot wait, I both love and hate this list. It reminds me that a lot of the games listed I want and have to keep waiting for! Love your videos!
this is why i missed how gaming was back in the day. you wouldn't know about when a game was gonna drop unless there was a tv commercial, an ad for it or a gaming magazine. there was no e3 or anything and game was were ACTUALLY completed and we weren't sold half a game with the promise of a full one. why do i need to know about a game that won't release for 3 years? or if they're like any of the games on this list, you're just up in the air for whatever amount of time they want.
For FF7 Ever Crisis they revealed a new trailer last year during TGS in which they announced that the beta wasdelayed from Winter 22 to Summer 23. So in theory we should get beta sign ups soonish. Or they delay it even further.
My problem with Ever Crisis is that it ultimately feels like a short term cash grab if it ends up being a live service game. It only exists to promote the FF7 Remake. So once that's done, it will just be abandoned and forgotten much like many of the past FF15 material or First Soldier.
Grand Blue Fantasy ReLink is the only game I've set up google alerts for, it's been so long waiting. I haven't even played the fighting game. It seems I'm becoming a potential BIG fan of S. Korean games cause I'm SO excited for Stellar Blade and DokeV. I'm also very much looking forward to Ever Crisis. I think it'll be great and maybe the only mobile game I actually put some time into.
I've been a fan of Hyung Tae Kim's art style ever since I played Magna Carta: Tears of Blood on PS2. He's the founder of Shift Up I found out. He was also the art designer for MMO Blade & Soul. They released a mobile game called Goddess of Victory Nikke back in November and I've been obsessed with it, the story is really good and they got some really notable voice actors. I got to a part where Bryce Papenbrook and Brianna Knickerbocker showed up. The two characters remind me of evil versions of Dana and Adol.
Sad to see they kicked out platinum games from the grand blue fantasy project and they had to remake everything inhouse. Game looks good now but it doesn't have that platinum polish

Oh man I'm so glad someone finally made a video on this! Not seeing Dragon Quest XII and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake 2 years after it was announced has been a real downer. They haven't shown anything of it at all and I just wonder why? Hopefully they will show the games around summer time. Granblue Fantasy is another one but at least they showed a lot of footage of it to keep the hype going. Other games that aren't RPG's like Alan Wake 2 is another one, that game is meant to be out this year and they haven't even shown a trailer of it yet. Patience is fine but if it were up to me, I wouldn't announce a game unless I had some footage of it to show first,
I'm waiting for Shining Force 4, Panzer Dragoon Saga 2, Skies of Arcadia 2, Valkyria Chronicles 5. I know I'll never get any of them, but I'll keep hoping 😭
I'm looking forward to pretty much everything listed here. I mean hey, if it means a finished, less buggy game at launch, I'm all for it! Besides... (looks at giant stack with years worth of unfinished games) I think I might be able to find something to play in the meantime 😅
Actually the FF7 thing could work. FF 7 R rewrites the timeline, but still references the original one. So to have an original story companion can work. FF7R has a way bigger audience than the original. At least when we factor in that it was a succesfull triple AAA release. I reconn many players havent played the original, just roughly know it, because you cant escape to hear about it.
I know the wait since these were formally announced hasn't been as long as some other games, but, we've known a HD remaster of Suikoden 1 and 2 are on the way, but I am unreasonably pissed at the fact that they seem to refuse to give us any idea on the launch date.
Square Enix really did a huge blunder announcing all of it's DQ games in 2021 for the 35th anniversary despite almost none of them being released that year. Hopefully DQ3 remake gets released this year and we get more on DQ12, hopefully atleast a protagonist reveal
Meanwhile, Project BBQ which is now uhh called Project AK, was announced several years ago and we barely hear anything about it every 2 years. Which is a shame, it looked fking badass.
I can't wait for Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and I hope to F. GOD that Square has enough brain cells to rub together that they know that we fans don't want a combat change to action or hack and slash or whatever, we want a Dragon Quest game just better that's it.
@@gideonantonissen6275 I wouldn't say unique many JRPG's have the standard turn based JRPG gameplay. However the problem is that you shouldn't change the whole genre of a game just to appeal to a different audience there are enough turn based JRPG fans, this would be like if Activision would change Call of Duty from a 1st person FPS online multiplayer game to a Uncharted like 3rd person action adventure story driven single player experience, that's what makes me angry. Square already put a sour taste in my mouth with Final Fantasy, we don't need repeat hystory once again.

Didn't hear about the HD 2D remakes DQ1 and 2.....4 still has no love and that was my favorite of the NES ones. I love DQ8(and 11) and really wish they would do a HD remaster of 8 for PS4, PS5, Switch, etc.
Project Awakening takes so long to release, I hope that the development will end good. I've seen the gameplay's trailer of Chrono Odyssey today and I'm pretty positive about it. I'm used to Devil May Cry games since I've earned platinum on DMC 1, 2, 3 and 4 (5 in progress...) so of course I'm gonna keep an eye on Stellar Blade and Lost Souls Aside. @@TheGamingShelf I've never played any FF games in my life so the first one would be good a good start and I like honestly, it's pretty chill for now. Live A Live is really a beautiful pixel art game and I like the fact that you can play with different heroes at different eras. Basically it's not my type of game but I found a good gem when I played Chained Echoes so I kept playing it and those games are good way to wait until Sea of Stars comes out.
@@JeannieLove DMC4 is the hardest one I earned because of the Bloody Palace trophies. DMC2 is the easiest one because the development was pretty chaotic on it so they couldn't release the game in good conditions.

I want more Dragon Quest games. After playing DQ XI, I've been wanting more. I was little to too late because all the physical versions on DS, PS2, etc. ended up shooting in price. Yes, I can emulate it, but I like collecting physical pieces. I hope they release something this year cause I'm ready. Besides DQ, FOR A LONGGGGGG TIME NOW, I've been waiting for some sort of Suikoden remakes. I played 2 on physical when I was a kid and now have been waiting for some sort of remake since )= Edit: Since I talked about Suikoden, did some research, some sort of remaster is suppose to release this year. I am happy now.
GBF Relink is gonna be competing in a post Genshin World and as someone turned off by the grindy mechanics of those kinds of games and just looking to enjoy the combat without the RPG, I think it could be worth the wait especially since we're getting more than 10 playable characters. That's typically unheard of an action game that isn't a musuo and more like Bayonetta.
I’m gonna safely assume Re:Link will be releasing maybe in late 2023 now Cygames are opening branches and becoming more independent also Rising coming soon, they’re sorta playing safe plus most of us gonna be playing TOTK and FF XVI guess they’ll wait till the hype of those games died down so in the meantime GBF players get your butts ready for the next Light GW cuz the newest monster gonna be an interesting one 💀
If they do change the combat for dq12, i sincerely hope they give me the option to keep it turnbased. I mean, it they can include a 16 bit option for 11, they can do that. I feel like changing the combat is antithetical to DQ. Id try it out, but dq has stood the test of time, and its ground, despite the times... And its amazing every time.
I wonder if Koichi Sugiyama dying has anything to do with the DQ3 remake being delayed. The guy-despite being a horrible human being often put some weird restrictions on the rights to his music. The remake was announced a few months before his death. Maybe that wasn’t all hashed out by then.

I definitely agree with the Dragon Quest games and Project Re:Fantasy. I'd also add Persona 6 and for localizations, the Calvard games of the Trails series.
I just wanna say if Granblue Fantasy Relink doesn’t come out this year they deserve the full might of the internet. No death threats but to express their frustration and to tell them how incompetent they’re. 8YRS for a JRPG is insane. The game better deliver because this many delays for a game is not good to earn the trust of a community. 👀

Where are Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes and Suikoden 1 & 2 remaster on this list? Both have a release date of 2023. The year is now half over and still no word on either game (hints of a possible October release for both games, but nothing else).
I love turn based JRPG but after playing a bit of Genshin I really wished there are something similar to it, anime style and what not but with more tight combat ("skill" instead of stats) and not an endless gacha game. Tales of Arise/Scarlet Nexus is great but want something more seamless and bigger area. Really excited for GBF Relink and Wuthering Waves (I know this is another gacha but the combat looks really cool).
I'm kinda hoping FFVII Ever Crisis gets a Switch release once all the "Chapters" have been released. It would be so much better to play on a console. As for DQXII, I'm crossing fingers they don't change it over to an action battle system like all their other flagship series, I don't want DQ to lose its turn-based battle too 😢
What im waiting for is the newest digimon story project after cybersleuth. We got news way back its being worked on and that it will feature the olympos twelwe (a digimon group thats not really promenient in the games or anime based on the roman gods) but we we got no release trailers, teasers, or even a title ;___;
Wow, I was certain they had officially cancelled it by now... but nope! The lead director is gone and the features the game would have (free to play monetization, procedurally generated content) have fallen out of gamers favor, not to mention it being developed for a new engine that they ended up scrapping in favor of the RE engine, so my best guess is that as time went on they figured they took too much time getting it out so now it's best to just leave it be.
