Just an observation having watched a few of your videos now. For a non American but English speaker…when you say “Hi I’m Erica” quickly it sounds like “Hi America”. Loving your videos and your personalities…thank you for sharing.

This is the first video I watched and I thought her name was America. 🤷‍♀

One important thing you missed. DON'T tap out on the busses. They are a fixed fare regardless of distance. If you tap out you will be charged twice.

Not necessarily true. You can tap on any bus within 60 minutes, even on other bus routes, and you'll only be charged once.

With your mention of dawdling, do not stop dead at exits and barriers - step to the side first. I am a wheelchair user and was leaving the O2 Arena. The people in front of me decided to stop immediately outside the main doors, in line with the middle of the door, with me and thousands of others behind them. I hit them; I can't stop that quickly. Just walk off to the side, then stop; it's safer and more considerate.

Thanks for sharing! So true. Gotta keep moving, keep your head on a swivel, and be aware when in crowds or just being polite when on the street.

Hello, my husband is the primary cardholder and I have a card under the same account. What is the option If I can't use the same contactless card on the tube? Enjoying the videos, very informative. Thanks!

You can get an Oyster Card at a ticket booth at the station. Fill it up as you go. They cost 7 GPB.

My wife and I have the same credit card from the same bank with the same number. Can we each use our cards without a problem? Thanks

We have never tried it as we have different card numbers. Transport for London says you can use the same card for a joint account.

Both are fine, but if you want to take the train, it won’t work. You have to buy the ticket in advance. Don’t forget if there are any activities recently.

8:30 to 9:30 and 5:30 to 6:30 but congested all day street level.

Nice video! Is there any reason for American tourists (or others) to buy an Oyster card at all anymore? Contactless cards are basically ubiquitous even in the US, so seems like that would always be the way to go to avoid paying for a (now) £7 Oyster card. Even if one of you has to use a card with a very high 3% foreign transaction fee, you'd still have to spend £233 for an Oyster to make more financial sense. With fare caps, you're not going to hit that as a tourist.
@YourGuidesAbroad

You can get your oyster card deposit back but yes, there is no reason to get an oyster card. TfL doesn’t want to do oyster cards so they incentive visitors and locals to use contactless.
@DavidWood2
@DavidWood2 5 месяцев назад
@@YourGuidesAbroad Oyster is now a fee, not a deposit. If you buy an Oyster for £7 today, you will never get that £7 back.

When using a card, multiple times, on busy public transport, there is a possibility that it could get lost or stolen. With an Oyster card you can apply for a replacement, and any remaining balance can be transferred. While the worst that can happen is that you loose the card balance. With a credit card you have the huge hassle, of blocking and replacing it, especially if you are visiting from abroad. Plus the potential financial loss, if someone finds, and uses, your credit card.

It sounds like a good plan. However, if the rail card can be used, it is still necessary. It can save a lot of money and there are discounts for card application!

One question is do we just use a separate credit card for our 15 year old?
@YourGuidesAbroad
@YourGuidesAbroad 4 месяца назад
Or get them an oyster card.
@code-on-Trip-app
@code-on-Trip-app 3 месяца назад
I think this is possible. If not, you can buy tickets on site. If you take the train frequently, there are activities for railcards for people aged 16 to 25.
@macmiah5747

Just buy an Oyster card from most station offices or local shops £7 each

Are railways so uncommon in London? I saw there were some activities recently.
