I'm actually thinking about taking the A+ Certification test! Is it difficult? I've built my own computer recently, so I don't think parts will really be an issue. I'm always telling my friends that pc gaming has a higher initial cost, but is much cheaper over time, and offers much more customization.
A+ is fucking piss easy dude a lot of the questions they give you are ones you'd know or have some knowledge off from just building and researching a rig
Keith Green This is absolutely true, sure assembling the motherboard with a test is purely based on memory but I remember slaying both tests back to back. All you really need to do is study and you got that cert in the bag.
Bone Skittles Just to add my two cents here: If you don't have to take it soon, try holding out till Fall, since the newer version should be out around then. You can still go for the 800 series if you want to though.
How comfortable do you feel when it comes to installing CPUs+heatsinks and mounting motherboards onto cases nowadays? Those are literally the only things I haven't done when it comes to assembling a PC. I still need to build my first custom rig.
Singh Long Hm....well I opted out and got an aftermarket cooler for my PC so I haven't installed a heat sink yet but I did see them installed by MightyFurtado, it looked easy. It's just all about positioning and getting the screws at a nice, secured degree.
Singh Long Only a tiny, pea sized portion of paste is sufficient and I did make mistakes. Always make sure you have 99.9 percent alcohol and good swabs to clean off any aftermarket paste if you're applying you're own. Also when you press down on your cpu and the paste it has to go directly down, and secure on it. You can't make any mistake there or else you'll get an air bubble and that will make your CPU heat shoot through the roof. What I did is give myself enough arm space to secure the cpu and the cooler with ease.
