I love your videos, Emily. You always show a positive attitude with your information. When I was very young at 17 years old, I was hired to work for Disney's Character Department in Walt Disney World. They were having auditions for their annual Christmas parade, and I was selected after doing some dance steps from some choreographers. I was given three characters for the parade. I had to do one of the Santa's Reindeers, a walking Christmas tree, and a Snowman. I mainly did one of the reindeers for most of the parades, which were done twice a day. Everyone involved had to learn a disco dance routine while the park was playing "Sleigh Ride." I had a lot of fun doing that parade. The character that I had to wear for the orientation was the fox from Pinocchio called "J. Worthington Foulfellow." My group of characters had to do one set in Tomorrow Land. I hated the big tail on the costume because it would go between my legs as I was walking. One evening I was called to work for another shift on the weekend as Captain Hook from Peter Pan. I was sent to Fantasy Land near Peter Pan's flight. As I am standing there near that ride, a little girl came over to me and kicked me in my right shin. I guess she just came from that ride, and her mother pulled her away from me after she decided to kick me. I was stunned that happened. I did have some difficulty writing the name for autographs since I am left handed and the hook is on the left sleeve. I had to learn to be ambidextrous in my writing skills. I also had to do the character parade in the afternoons. The leads told us that we cannot talk in costume, and we cannot eat or drink in costume since they are very expensive to make. After working for 30 minutes for each set, all of us characters would go down in the tunnels and remove the heads and the costumes to cool off. We would go to the break room and get something to drink or to eat, and thankfully the tunnels are air-conditioned. Since I was wearing Captain Hook, I had to remove the head, the coat, and the little white dickie. I could still wear the red knickers, the grey tights, and the hard pirate shoes while on break. At the character department, we were given some t-shirts that had Jiminy Cricket on the front with the banner "The Zoo Crew" that we could wear under the costumes. I am sure that has changed since I worked there. Sometimes they would show some old Disney movies in the character department to understand the characters better. While working there for the Christmas holidays, I had to do a show in front of Cinderella's castle as one the dancing Santa people. We would do a polka dance, and I had to lift my dancing partner up in the air. Next, they would have the 12 Days of Mickey's Christmas part of the show. I had to back into the side entrance of the castle and put on my reindeer costume for the finale. I would watch the stage while in the castle's big entrance, and I would always laugh at the guys who were dancing the 7 Lords of Leaping because they had to do these high piroettes. For New Year's Eve, the show had just finished and some people were walking with me while in my reindeer costume as escorts while going to the castle again. As we were walking, this man who was extremely drunk came up to me and said, "Hey Frosty, I am your favorite fan." All of us were laughing since I was wearing a reindeer costume instead of a snowman costume. I have a lot of fun memories as a Disney character. I wore many costumes that depended on one's height. I wore the old Winnie the Pooh costume that had the honey pot on top of the head, and it was very hot to be in that costume. I also did Tigger, Eeyore, Brer Fox, Pluto, Goofy, The Big Bad Wolf, King Lion from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Friar Tuck, one of the Tweedles and the Walrus from Alice in Wonderland, and I did one of Mary Poppin's Penguins for the Easter Parade. I also worked in the Main Street Electrical Light Parade as a Toy Soldier, a Bell Ringer, and I helped to support the canopy for the Cinderella's dancers. I also remember being behind the float that had the Ugly Step Sisters and the Step-mother as a flag bearer for Valentine's Parade. All three characters were done by men in drag, and my partner and I were laughing so hard because they were the funniest drag queens ever to do them. They were mouthing the words from the animated movie called "The Work Song" that were sung by the mice as they were helping to make Cinderella's dress for the ball. I am sorry for the long comment, but I had to tell my stories as a Disney character in the early 1980s. I love any video where you just sit down and talk to us, such a cool video idea! Would love to see a part 2 to this. I’d also love to hear you rank the Disney rides from favorite to least favorite. Maybe make 4 videos, one for each park

My family and I have been to Disney every single year since I was born (2000) and we are the kind of people to just never complain or be rude to cast members because they’re human and sometimes there’s nothing that can be done. Our last trip this summer things went horribly wrong every single day and my dad finally on our second to last day said he was going to go to guest services and, not yell, but just simply complain. The lady was so absolutely thankful for him not yelling at her that she gave us an extra one day park hopper for my whole family, 20 fast passes EACH for all of us, and we each could have one free treat at the ice cream shop on Main Street. Just shows how great cast members are.

Thank you...I always wondered if the performers hanging with characters like Chip and Dale had fans or something. I guess not, now that's dedication!

Honestly one of my fave thing’s about working at Haunted Mansion was not having to smile 24/7!! #thatshowtho But then there was also the other end of the spectrum having guests tell me “you’re too happy to work here” 😂

I Just saw the miniature and its my costume and my leaders, and thought about i was seeing your videos even before going. I didnt get to know you but well its surrealistic because you were in the same place! And i start all seeing your videos, Just wow.

Are the princesses as mean to other cast members as I hear many of them are mean? Ive heard they keep to each other and have a "princess clique" and they fight over boys like Mean Girls. Question 2: How much does it cost to live in Disney housing?
