young and wild and free is awesome. I took it while winstreaking top 2 early game and you get free BIS, it's the absolutely funniest thing. As soon as you load into carousel you can start moving, even before first pick pops. I don't think it's fantastic if you don't really have a strong board early though
Don't underestimate that Young and Wild and Free augment. I always top 4 until stage 4, get horrible items, then lose for two whole stages and end at 4th or 5th, but I got that as a second augment and actually got to build my items. Up until top 2, I had 60 HP, only losing to a high roller, who I got to beat because of all that spared HP. It sounds fun, it IS fun, and it is actually great.
I've been masters since set 6. My advice is if you're trying to get to diamond is just learn how to play strongest board. Everybody in low elo is always saving up money, but you should be saving health if you're trying to climb. Ideally you can do both, but just make the strongest board you can while making some econ. You'll make top 4's very consistently while also learning how to cap out and go 1st. Eventually you'll have 3-4 go-to comps that you're comfortable with that you can use to climb. In set 6, I was great at innovators and scrap. In set 7, I was good at jade, shimmerscale and whispers. In set 8, hearts, rift walkers and ox/spell. Even in diamond and low masters, people aren't playing strongest board or open forting (loss streaking to build economy) properly. Just balance health and money, play a few OP comps, and you'll climb easily with practice.
The way you cap out, by the way, is usually by dropping 1-3 cost units and replacing them with 4-5 costs. Especially in set 9, legendaries have more power (than set 8) and can fit into most comps.
