Wayne Rooney was absolutely phenomenal player in his prime. 2nd highest goalscorer, 3rd highest assist leader in Epl and he could have scored even more if not for the obstacles he faced, like playing out of position to a midfield role. He is England's highest top scorer in history and his career is full of silverware too.

Crazy thing is he could've achieved more people said he had the same potential as Ronaldo if not better it's sad that after his 30s his legs were fried had he been as consistent as Ronaldo he would be considered top 10 players of this generation or maybe top 5.

For pure talent Rooney was considered above ronaldo that time. But work ethic make roooney decline in his 30. And yeah rooney not playing as fill offenses also the reason.

Robben was good at Madrid. I am not sure why you guys are saying otherwise. While he was there, Madrid was struggling for a good coach. Madrid sold Robben, Robinson, and Vandaavert, players that were not doing too bad. They just panicked and sold players, but the issue was because they never had any good coach.

Robben had already been brilliant at psv and Chelsea, and as far as I can remember won the league at Real when bernt schuster was manager playing great ball. Then went to Bayern and continued being an unbelievably brilliant footballer. Awful diver though.

Fabinho is also one such player.. After having lost the 2018 final, Liverpool quickly signed Fabinho just 2 days later partly bcoz of the anger of fans who were demanding for recruitments and strengthening the club. Today he might not be a very big name as many in this video, but a crucial player without whom Liverpool's performance always suffers

Ridiculous to define all midseason signings as panic buys. Some of these were carefully considered. Eric Cantona was more a panic buy at Leeds the previous season than at Man U, but both were great signings. Rooney and Berbatov were planned long before and Berbatov was an underwhelming second choice for much of his time at Old Trafford, used against the teams that were goal fodder but not in the big matches.

I like how a lot of these are Tottenham XD I think that's just their business model, force people to wait so long they think it's happening and make plans for it but then take so long that they get desperate and drop the price.

Wayne Rooney was one of my favorite players. The way he used to score inspired me to join my junior league, of which I am captain now. When he left united(My still favorite team) I Cried. Hard. Hope he's doing well

For a real bunch of panic buys (and loans) take the players that Harry Rednapp brought into my home town team Portsmouth in 2006 when they were well in the relegation zone, including 3 Spurs players that came as a "job lot" and Andres D'Alessandro. They took a couple of games to bed in but then gelled and pulled off a "great escape". Fans sang "Juan Pedro Mendes ... there's only Juan Pedro Mendes". Benjani, the centre forward who couldn't score goals for ages but made plenty. This season Eddie Howe seems to have got some pretty shrewd January buys for Newcastle. How the heck did he get Kieran Trippier for just £12M?

Couldn't have heard a more bs story than Rooney's. He was United's primary target all summer long. It took them to finalize the deal till last day but it certainly wasn't a panic buy. And it raises a question: do your content makers even know what is panic buy in football?
