Perhaps for some people the Mini 4 Pro would be a better choice. Not for me. I chose the Air 3. I live in the Chicago area which is the Windy City. My Mini 2 my first drone has been great and i still have and fly it. But the wind here has been brutal many days and the Mini 2 struggles greatly. The Air 3 is far better in the wind and the tele lens is a game changer.
size is important yes, I can see why you want to choose the smaller drone. It the same reason i went for a mini 3 to begin with. small, compact and i can take it anywhere. But after living with the air 3 its not really that different just slightly larger. weight is great. but if you are already into drone flying you probably already have joined a club which gives you perks that allow you to fly a larger drone or actually have your own license for one... so its a real hit or miss. 2:00 same sensor size but entirely different concepts on both. AIR 3's sensor is actually stacked allowing it to retain a high colour pallet while keeping a clear sharp image. so yes in terms of cmos sensor the air 3 walks the mini 4 pro. And i mean price really is because of the AIR 3's over all greater flight performance and the better sensor array up front, not including its amazing flight time. The avoidance cameras are not really a reason more a preference. Also all the features the mini 4 has interms of active track 5.0 is also on the air 3 Vertical shooting is great... i guess. but really 2.7k is what most videos are downsized to on most doom scrolling apps. Again for reason 8 the air 3 has the exact same thing reason 9... i actually disagree. a larger drone actually makes you look more professional. This means people will be more trusting instead of seeing a small drone randomly hovering. better wording would have been sound. air 3 is loud. outside its not awfully loud but it can and will draw a crowd. Mini 4 pro is quiet and much better when it comes to flying near people.
My opinion is if you want the extra camera and better wind resistance, and still get very good quality photos and videos get that air 3. The flight exam is an open book it’s nerve racking but over all not bad at all
A small correction. The vertical mode of the Air3 doesn't crop on the 4K, it crops on the 4:3 sensor, so you get a greater field of view than just cropping the 4K 16:9 video.
I came on here just after buying the air 3. Ultimately happy with my choice. The battery life, the 2 cameras! Is so clutch! And I weirdly just feels good having a solid pro feeling drone over something more of a toy. Also just getting my license I feel the only reason I’d go for a mini is if I wasn’t licensed. I’d definitely buy it as a backup drone.
I'm down sizing from air 2 to mini 4 pro. Tired of having a bigger drone to lug around i miss my smaller air 1 which was the perfect size. After using my gf's mini 3 pro a few times. I'm super convinced a smaller profile drone is much better in every single way. I travel a lot and a bigger drone doesn't make sense for me when a smaller form factor drone has the same image quality.
@@freshandsaltyjohnnyyup for some people size means a lot. If they can somehow can a 2nd camera on there then for me I probably would have taken it at the cheaper price. That’s gonna be hard tho to keep under 250 grams 😂
Really only 3 reasons, Size, Weight, True Vertical Video, the rest are software updates that are coming to the Air 3 eventually. They just want to sell some mini 4's first.
@@svoropaev cough wind resistance, cough speed, cough its one of DJI's fastest ascending drones far out pacing the mini 4 pro, cough cough, the sensors on both the 3x tele lens and the wide angle are both stacked 1/1.3 inch. (it means in simple terms the sensor acts like a true 1 inch) unlike the mini 4 pro. (oh and flight time) There are not really enough reasons to go for the mini 4 pro if you have the money for the air 3. or the air3s which is just around the block.
I wish I would have seen this video before I bought the A3. Considering neither aircraft has SDK availability at the present time I can see your point.
Can you do mini 4 pro vs Air 2S? I believe the air 2S is a really popular drone a lots of people have it, so it would be a great comparison and would be great to see if the new mini drone would beat that Air Beast😉
I am using the Air2s and waiting of mini5pro release. My air2s after the mavic2zoom is wonderful for travellenspro and I traveled Afrika and Asia. Air2s have 5K and is streng even in rain and windy coast
Will there be an "X" reasons to buy the Air 3 over the Mini 4 Pro video? I have an Air 2, Air 2s, Mini 3 Pro so do I benefit more from a Mini 4 Pro or an Air 3? The extra lens on the Air 3 is a clear bonus that the Mini range can't compete with.
Hi..if legally we have no restrictions...and if Air 3 is only 10% more in cost than mini 4 pro...which would you prefer? in Dubai...the basic drones with RC controller..Air 3 is around 850 USD...Mini 4 pro basic is around 770 USD....basic..not the combo
95% of the so called upgrades on DJI Mini 4 Pro, could have been a rolled out software update for DJI Mini 3 Pro, the Air / Mavic Series and save the planet. For wind resistance, Air/Mavic series over Mini series anytime.
Not sure you could have rolled out new vision cameras, new aux light and new infrared sensors on a software update. Those sensors opened up all the new features like the new active tracks 360.
@@FlytPath Sure you're right and those new additions make the 5%. Omnidirectional sensors are cameras so there's potential for active track 360° for omnidirectional featured drones and active track 270° for tri directional avoidance drones. I'm not bashing Mini 4 Pro, it's good for new buyers. Just pointing out the minimalistic additions for a long awaited new gadget which appears to be like Apple iphone strategy.
Love the videos as always! I have a question, I have the original mavic 3 fly more combo. I’ve been debating selling it and getting the air 3, what are your thoughts?
The Mini 4 Pro can't fly above 120 meters from where you stand in the EU. That means you can't fly up a mountain hill like 250 meters up and still be within 120 meters from the ground / terrain to where you can land your drone. The Mini 3 Pro (as of this time), Air 3 and Mavic 3's doesn't have this limitation in EU and can be flown up to 500 meters. And that alone is a good enough reason to not buy the Mini 4 Pro for now and either go for the Mini 3 Pro or the Air 3, or even with the Mavic 3's if you are serious about flying drones. This is if you are located inside the EU. If the Mini 3 Pro or Mini 3 gets the same limitation on a firmware release later, then I would go for the Mini 4 Pro at that time. But as things are at this time, I would go for the Mini 3 Pro over the Mini 4 Pro because of that limitation. Here in Norway, I can fly my 'Mavic 3 Pro' 500 meters up a mountain hill legally as long as i'm within 120m to the nearest ground / terrain I can land my drone at up there. And as long as I have VLOS on it.
Hi, i had the same concern here in Switzerland about this stupid 120m 'over startingpoint rule' (instead 120m over GND).. Therefore i've the following strategy: Using mainly 4pro with all its great new features. And for projects where i need to jump over those 120m i'll use my 'old' mini3pro. Maybe this is a solution for you as well. And btw: i dont make any update for 3pro, so this 500m limit won't be changed
Under 250gms only with the light batteries. If you want better flight time you'll need the bigger batteries which takes it over 250gms... A little misleading there...
I have a quick question about the controller. With the new controller (RC2) is there RTMP as an option for streaming the live drone view?!?! I saw on a DJI forms page that it was but I wanted to verify that RTMP is on the drone before I buy it! Thanks so much!
Just remember: “sport mode” shits off all those fancy sensors… ask me how I know 🤣 I bought mini 4 pro - but I am wondering if the controller will also work on the air 3?
Can anyone confirm that the ActiveTrack 360 has also been added to the Air 3 . DJI told me yes but I don't trust that the answer they gave me is correct.
Great review! Which one (Air 3 or Mini 4 Pro) would you recommend for filming boats? I want to take drone footage (video and pictures) of boats for marketing purposes. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for video. I had Air 2, but I think about Air 3 because is stable in wind more like mini 4 pro. And now, I think on mini 4 pro because is small and has same sensor like air 3, I am little scare from tele camera on Air 3, if it will be good or not. I dont know which one buy.
@@FlytPath Okay. I'm still confuse which one to choose, Mini 4 pro with RC2 or cheaper RC-N2 version. Yeah back then RC1's range sucks compared to RC-N1, some youtuber range tested it. But now RC2 equipped with external antennas, I wonder if it has better range compare to RC-N2. Cheers!
Coming from the air 1 and air 2. I see absolutely no reason at all to get the air 3. Same camera? Heavier and much more larger drone than previous generations makes this one a hard pass. The mini 4 pro does everything the bigger sibling does at a much smaller form factor. $1100 for a “toy drone” is also a pass DJI will drop the price soon like Xmas soon which will the best time to buy this drone. $1100 is too expensive for a glorified mini 3 non pro
I would like to see a comparison of the Mini 4’s full field of view in vertical versus the Air 3’s vertical crop on 4:3 versus the vertical crop you would get on 16:9.
My new Air 3 will take over my old Air 2S's place of the workhorse of mine aerial photo taking jobs from now on, due to it's strongest and tons of pro level functions, dual cameras, especially the 70 mm eqiv. mid tele lens, gaves me more rooms to creation of my works, the second point of the advantages of the Air 3 was the wind resist ability, these is the lacks of Mini 4 pro, As the Air 3's role play is a middle class consumer drone, it's size, it's appropriate weight and lots of pro level multifunctions and so on, makes it the most valuable drone in the market up to date, Maybe the Mini 4 pro I would consider to buy one as my standby drone when it will sell alone in the coming future~
Size matters, bigger is better sensor and wind resistance therefore the air 3 wins. i currently have an air 2s but once the air 4 releases I'll most likely pick that up.
I take it the Mini 4 does not have precision landing or is able to tell when there are aircraft in the area. I believe the only Air 3 has both of these functions. Do you think it would have put the Mini 4 over 250 gms to have these features included?
Number 9 is a huge factor. 👍 I had to get a shot the other week, where avoiding unwanted attention was ideal, the Mini 3 was the one to use, rather than Mavic.
The size and noise difference is almost zero difference. The Air 3 has a lower pitch and is less intrusive IMO, and the very slightly size difference makes zero difference in someone "seeing" your drone. It's just a mental thing that you and most people have when it comes to drones. It's like filming yourself in public, no one really cares, but you think everyone is watching you.
1 reason neverr ever to buy this drone, and all blogers not telling about that. THE MAXIMUM attitude is - 120m !!!!!!!!!!!!!! in EUROPE 100% So if you travel and want to takce really nice videos and pictures in NORWAY,SWEDEN, SPAIN you can take this mini 4 pro and put it to the garbige =))) it's useless. You can't fly in mountain, you cant make nice pict of city from 200 m!
Why not purchase both of them? I already have the mini 3 pro and the air 3 I tried to order the mini 4 pro yesterday but unfortunately DJI store app was out of stock. So I paid bills instead. Maybe next paycheck 😂
great video as always.. any input on the Mini 4 Pro's Autofocus.. I just returned a Mini 3 Pro after 2 weeks having problems with using Autofocus-- lots of blurry pics.. only 'fix' was to use Manual focus set at Infinity.. not what I wanted in a new drone... checking further it seems to be a widespread common problem.. trying to do as much research as I can before I get the Mini 4 Pro .. over the past 3 years have the original Mini and the Mavic Air 2 without any problems
Very Good Video! Was hard to decide at first because I didn't have my licence, but for the sake of trying I decided to take the test, and luckily I passed it at the first try. Am going to get the Air 3 now, besides I have the Mini 3 Pro already for backup.
Note the Air 3 had a firmware release yesterday that has added the same AR features as the Mini 4. I have had a Mini 2 for a few years, decided to learn to fly without sensors. However, I am now looking to buy either the Mini 4 pro or the Air 3. Tonight I wrote a pros/cons list to try and decide which one is best for my needs. Anyway, living in a windy place I have decided to go with the Air 3 as it is better in high winds, has two cameras, is a faster drone, is not limited to 120m in the EU and has a longer flight time. I will keep my Mini 2 for when I can only fly sub 250g, which is not very often as I tend to fly in the countryside. In the future I may also swap the Mini 2 for a 4 pro but only when the price drops.
I love my air 3 man, you will be happy with either or, the better wind resistance is what did it for me, because its windy where i live often and my huddies mini always struggled while my air3 does great in the wind
I love your videos. Especially this one, because it also made me decide to buy the M4P rather than the Air3. But please change the timestamps in the future. I know it's for watchtime, but instead of just writing "Reason1", you could describe after that in "( ) " what it's about in 2 words or so. Incidentally, this would also be better for some people who have a mental illness and often lose the thread more than once a minute. Just a constructive suggestion for improvement on my part. Otherwise, keep up the good work ;) Let's flyi Best regards
I have the Mavic 3 for remote scenic videography, but the Mini 4 Pro is my go to drone if people are around as it will do most of what the Mavic will do with much more stealth if not too much wind.
Debatable....All 9 reasons are fail if you need a 70mm camera. Is quieter the Mini 4? Yes....Same things like Air3 on main camera? Yes... But also the stability in wind and the speed is pro Air3, the camera for Air 3 seems to be made better after the failure of Mini 3 Pro that had a fog issue (we still do not know if is fixed in Mini 4)....
