You forgot to add one more point..while entering the Movie theatre.. Security:-What's there inside your bag?? Me:-Knife, Handgrenade,AK-47 & Water-bottle.. Security:-Nooo..u cannot carry the water bottle..😂😂
I have worked at a movie theater for five years now, so I've had many many complaints about the prices. Obviously, I completely understand it being frustrating that concessions are overpriced. But movie theaters hardly make any money from ticket sales, at least thats how it works at ours. So in order for theaters to stay open they charge more for concessions. Those sales keep them running. I understand that not everyone can afford those prices and that's completely understandable. Just remember that if you want theaters to stay alive, you're going to be paying more for concessions. There's a reason it's not just a coincidence that every single movie theater has overpriced concessions.
Well if the theaters can't make profits, and can't afford snacks and beverages for a normal price, because that would lead them for bankrupt-then I guess that their generation is about to end. I like to hang out and catch a movie with my friends, but when we have to spend time and money, while we have a wider and free range of movies in the internet, we would rather watch movies at home, with no rush and more money left in our wallets...
I totally understand and that very well may be so. I can't afford them all the time myself so I certainly don't expect everyone to be able to buy them. I was just explaining that's why they do cost more since that is their main source of profit.
Lauren Lipscomb Here in the Philippines, almost all theaters are owned by mall owners so you can bring any food you want inside the cinema and they'll still profit because people presumably bought food inside the malls.
Adrian Val Olonan That's awesome! A system like that would definitely help keep costs down. We used to have a theater in our mall but the mall itself didn't do well so it ended up closing. But that's awesome that it works for you all!
As a current movie theater employee I will cover all of the items addressed here, even if you did not ask for it. #9 It is true that most of the time theater halls don't get cleaned well. Even though sometimes it does get busy, it's usually just lazy employees. #8 I mean I guess its easier for employees to pick up trash off the seat, but just please throw it away. #7 Unless you are watching the loudest thrilling action movie every day, it will never make as much of a difference as wearing earbuds at moderate volume for the same amount of time. #6 Yes..... we are hiding the fact..... that we didn't have cup holders...... smh #5 Most have special ventilation systems to get the steam and smell out of the theater because the smell gets not-so-good fast. #4 My own opinion is that cameras in a movie theater is an intrusion of privacy and have never, in the many theaters I have been in, seen a camera in the auditorium. Our location has only thrown out one couple in the past 8 months. #3 We know our prices are ridiculous. We make next to nothing from ticket sales anymore because the studios have renegotiated deals many times cause its a dog-eat-dog world in business. So we have to pass on the premium to you for labor, repair, and the sheer ginormous utility prices and upkeep of a theater open 12 hours a day, 365. #2 I fully agree that combo deals are a sham and a trick to get you to spend more money for basically the same cost to the company. #1 Your audacity..... I have never seen popcorn sit in a warmer (specifically designed to keep it fresh) for more than 4 hours. I personally have thrown away full 60 gallon bags full of popcorn at the end of the night.
Thank you 4 writing this...i love going 2 the movies...and i love movie popcorn!!!!!i dont care what any1 says...its the best..big hugggssss...keep the movie rolling
Very true. Also, the reason for the concessions being "higher" priced is due to that is how a Theater stays in business as the studios take the vast majority of ticket revenue.
2:21 try to watch "A Quiet Place" in theater, you will only hear a plastics bag of chips and a loud crunch kind of foods such as snacks/chips... 😂😂😂 Its kinda awkward tho.. 😅👌
So, they say they have cameras in the movie theatre itself. And they also say, that food brought from other places, is not allowed. So how in the world, have I not been caught sneaking food in the cinema, on camera?
Episode Queen because there are no cameras in the theaters. At the theater I work at, we only kick out people that other guests have been complaining about.
Okay, but why is leaving your popcorn and drinks on your chair a "secret"? Like, does nobody know that? And about those cup holders, that's not really a secret. It's a fact. Also we probably all know that popcorn is WAYYY overly priced. No hate, just pointing that out. Love this channel. :)
Im not here to dislike the video and hate on it, but in all honesty some of these facts are completely false. As someone who has worked in a movie theatre for a decent amount of time i can confidently say that as a worker we do take time to mop and clean everything properly :/ It is true that we have tight schedules but it just means we call over more people for help not “not properly cleaning the theaters.” We have never kicked out a couple for “cuddling and with a significant other.” We as workers do not watch the cameras for this behavior we have bigger duties at hand lol Have we found people who do that, absolutely but it has never been distracting, and at least in my time working ive never once see anyone be thrown out. Finally the popcorn being reheated and sold again is false, at least for my theatre. If we have extra popcorn...we have more in the back😂 there’s not a shortage or anything we just throw it out 😂 , there will always be popcorn. I also kinda think thats just plain gross too lol Again not hating on the vid i enjoyed it being kind of informative, and who knows maybe the stuff i listed just doesn’t happen where i work😂
straightuppokemon Sorry but the world isn't all the same. You probably work in a different country from the guy. This just proves how ignorant you are :> . You wrote so much stuff yet it makes you look like a fool. I'm not hating or anything
josephine teo I completely agree, and your not wrong, we may live in different countries and like i said this may happen all over i just haven’t seen it in my workplace. “Ignorant” yeah i suppose because i don’t everything about movie theaters, but foolish doesn’t seem like the right word to describe it.
Look at these little smartasses! This video is still encouraging bad behaviour by giving them a so called considerate excuse for not just throwing your trash away. It isn't difficult, in most theatres you'll even pass the bin as you walk out. And Brightside is not a person, it's a company, so that did not answer the OP's question, how difficult is *that* to understand?
I prefer watching at home--on the big screen. No sticky floors, people trying (and failing) to keep their feet on the back of my seat, and nobody playing with phones throughout the movie.
People who sneak in candy shouldn't be going to the movie theater and staying at home to watch it when it comes out on DVD or Netflix. They don't make a profit from the ticket sales. They make it from the food they sell.
Warriorcatlover6_2_42 Lovecats also, the theaters themselves get their money through concessions as opposed to the movie itself. So they need to charge extra in order to help themselves. I only go to the theater no more than three times a year mostly.
Popcorn and Soda are actually MORE expensive than a regular 3D day time ticket. I only paid $10 for War of the Planet of the apes, but buying popcorn, candy and soda together would have been at least $15
The only problem I have with this is the end of the day popcorn thing. I’ve worked in several movie theaters and never once did we reuse day old popcorn. At the end of the night the leftover popcorn is put in trash bags and taken out to the dumpsters or trash compactors and a new fresh batch is started first thing in the morning.
Ok the whole video was truthful until the last one. I work at a movie theater and we don’t keep the popcorn overnight that’s just nasty we discard what’s left over and pop fresh popcorn in the morning.
Well in here popcorn is more expensive than movie tickets Thor ragnarok movie ticket 3d- $13 Popcorn- $15.24cents Mega large popcorn- $22 Fkin kiddin me? And if I get a popcorn, 2pepsi and couple of nachos the cost I will come to pay is about nearly $40
I argee because you can borow a moive from the libary and the only thing that will cost money is the popcorn and drinks like it's going to be like 10 dollars if stay home moives are like 4× as much maybe more
*#9:* i think we all know that *#8* i think we all know that *#7* i think we all know that *#6* nobody knows and nobody CARES *#5* i think we all know that, its because its food thats unhealthy duh *#4* i think we all know that *#3* I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT *#2* think we all know that *#1* i think we all know that what im trying to say is these are not secrets and we already know all of this! *CLICKBAITTTTT!!*
But this is not the condition in India Indian theaters are so clean In India we have trash bins inside the theatre ,as we leave the theatre we get to throw our trash in the trash bin
As a prior manger of a movie theater let me say most of what you say is correct. except the reason for the charge of the popcorn and other goodies is that the charge of the movie tickets is NOT were the movie theater makes there money it's the Goodies like popcorn.
I know man. I never worked in a movie theater. But I understand why the huge charge for snacks. I forget what percentage is it the theater actually gets? It's less than 10% if I remember right.
New movies (how they watch) Normal people watch in theatre. Women and children wait to be shown in television. And we find a website to download before it releases in TV😂😂😂😂😁😎😎😎😎😎
You mean smuggle candy? I do it all the time. I always have a little backpack that I am wearing but I try not to run ask much because it will make noises and I might end up getting kicked out and having to try a different movie theater and, we’ll you get me don’t you?
edit R&M I'm the only one in my family that picks up trash. I actually have OCD which is really weird bc I think the rest of my family is so messy. Especially my sister who I have to share a room with. I'm not exaggerating and I'm soo serious. Before I clean it, there's not a spot you can see the ground. i wish I was exaggerating even a little. And she can do this within a day. It's horrible. She can't live without the mess and I cant live with it.
Combo deals do save you money and a free refill. We are not allowed to keep popcorn and use it in the morning. The reason why concession is so expensive is because movie theaters only make a small percentage from a ticket so the way they make their money is through concession.
I thought it was closer to to 50 cents a cup cause the printed cup and lid can run you between 10 and 20 cents depending on the number of colours in the design and size then you have the maintenance of the machine. I'm pretty sure about that price range as I've worked for various suppliers for the past 16 years. (it's amazing how much paper has gone up in price in that time)
What the video didn't state is that the reason popcorn prices are high is because of the ever rising expense of first run movies. Theaters are a business and have to make a profit. While I don't agree it should be this bad, blame Hollywood for 150 million dollar movies who flop and leave a theater with a big bill for the movie.
Yeah, you can eat anything, it's not super loud (my ears are sensitive to loud noises), it's not 15 dollars, it's not crowded, you don't have to go outside, etc.
You Are So Right Dude! Every time I Go See A Movie, They Try To Hide The Fact That The Theater Is Dirty From Me & I Never Even Realized Until Now! 😲😨 I'm Outraged!
In Nederland zijn er amper van die bakken waar je je beker in kan doen. Bij Vue purmerend moet je voor een VIP seat betalen om zo'n bakje te krijgen bij je stoel..
I worked at a movie theater in high school and one of the tricks they used was piping in the scent of popcorn into the lobby to entice potential customers to buy the stuff. Life is so much cheaper regarding movies when you have a Netflix subscription and can just get snacks at your closest grocery store.
The reason the snacks are so overpriced is because the license the movie theatre has to buy to show the movies leaves pretty much no profit, so they inevitably have to raise the price of the snacks.
Actually, many theatres, particularly the smaller independent ones, DO save it for the next day. What's even worse is that even though the bags are stored off the floor, rodents can sometimes still gnaw through the bags to snack on the popcorn. At least when this happens to the unpopped kernels, the heat kills any nasties, but when the popcorn is already popped, they just rewarm it, which kills nothing.
Honey Bear they post very consistently like 1 or 2 times a day and people lose interest do to many topics and the amount of abundance in thier videos, I myself don't click on all thier videos cuz i lose interest
I work at a small theater run by a large company in middle Michigan honestly it does not matter if you put your trash in your seat it's just as hard to pick up also if you think that popcorn is kept overnight we do not do that we actually take it for ourselves to eat at home or throw it away the reason concession prices are so outlandish is because revenue from tickets goes straight back to the studio that produced the movie so we have to make our money through the food which not a lot of people buy so we have to jack up the prices. it's true that the combo is not cheaper than the components of the combo also we do not put additives in our popcorn make it smell better we use a very cheap popping oil that may or may not be canola or coconut but it's very low grade our popcorn is Gourmet popping corn which is a blend of a bunch of different kinds of kernels but we don't actually have any secret recipes we get it all from a vendor and if the volume is too high in a theater for you we are happily able to turn that down for you at request along with the climate controls in the theater and there are no cameras in the theater we are not allowed to do that because it can pick up sound and or pictures from the movie what we do do is send somebody in there every 10 to 20 minutes to make sure there are no feet on seat cell phones or anybody making loud noises or jumping around or being inappropriate in the theater if Management in an effort to create more profits decided to sell old popcorn not made that day that would be reprimanded severely Buy corporate and we are very adamant on not selling expired food items everything you get at my theater is reasonably fresh hope this sheds some light on what actually happens at a theater again this is a very small Theatre in rural Michigan so it may not be accurate for a larger business
heartsrob74 Depends on the movie theater. My theater makes it fresh even before we open doors around 12-1PM. We throw all the unsold popcorn into our dumpster before we close the theater down for the night.
I personally work for AMC at the moment and previously worked for Carmike before they were bought out, we always bagged the popcorn up at the end of the night and throw it away. The only time we didn’t was if we take the popcorn home for ourselves or gave it away at the end of the night.
I would rather watch a movie on my home tv rather than going to the theater because you could always rewind if there is an interruption and you could have a comfortable seat of your choice.
The Nerd Squad at movie you can have a comfortable seat of your choice, and there is no interruptions, plus the movie quality is 10 times better and is displayed on a huge screen.
davx4 but, a lot of noise from some children, no way to pause it for the toilet, and is costly. Just buy popcorn from a store and Connect your computer to a TV and choose any of these free sites that offer good HD movies (123movies, Viooz, gomovies.com)
kristen barlow it said that they can't clean it thoroughly because of the small time span between the movie ending and the next one starting. they can clean it good only at night when there's no customers
If it's on the seat I'm more inclined to pick it up and throw it out than if I'm rushed for time and I have to put in extra effort dig it out from under the seat. For the lazier ushers they're more likely to shove things under the seats (even though we're not supposed to) or leave things there than if they're in arms reach.
I come from a small place called New Zealand where instead of buying the expensive snacks from the movies, we go to the nearest supermarket and get a huge bag, walk in with a huge bag full of snacks although cinemas don't allow it, and cruise casually. Security in New Zealand don't really care because they bring their own little "stash" when it is their time to watch a movie.
High volumes can be dangerous from ANY perspective. I was in marching band for 3 years in a row. It messed up my hearing a bit yes, but I knew the consequence. People go to the movies for the surround sound. It makes it 1:Scarier And 2:Better
You have to pay for the movie if its a dvd, blue ray or digital copy if not that you have to pay your subscription to whatever your using plus pay for your snacks from the grocery store plus if its a brand new movie that your dying to see the theaters is the only option
Regarding popcorn and concession stand prices, that is how theaters make their money. The money made from a movie works on a sliding scale. When a movie first comes out, the majority of the earnings goes to the movie producer. The theater does not make a profit on a movie until weeks after it’s released. Maybe you have featured this detail.
9. We all knew that 8. I don’t care, it’s their job 7. Well, you made a pretty loud noise. I will watch what I want 6. I wasn’t born then so it doesn’t make a difference
