That Dragon cancer is a game that tugs at my heart strings even more than it did before because I recently lost someone to cancer so I can better understand how painful it is.
hugs to you I am sorry that happened its tough I lost my brother from Cancer and ironically the same cancer I fought and won. The survivors guilt is tough
The dragon cancer is horridly correct... When I played it, I cried a lot because I had cancer as a child and I never even thought about the perspective of the people who had to look after me... It was eye opening...
I have dealt with Leukemia this year so yeah my god it's a depressingly relatable game.... Fucking memorial game being sad and getting me in the feels.
I know this is old; but if it's any consolation, it's not like you could have helped getting cancer to begin with. It was completely happenstance that you got it to begin with. I hope you're doing relatively okay given the circumstances.
@@GothKatt No because I'm a paranoid delusional wreck. Can't do shit because I'm in a crap/terrible state often and I just want drugs to soothe the pain of it all.
I teared up on the segment of That Dragon Cancer (5:35), especially on the part where the mother was telling her son that everything will be ok, and her hopes that Joel will never remember that he had cancer or ever went to treatment. I think it was in the way that the VA delivered it but...it's still feels nonetheless
That broke my heart. Hell, I have a breakdown when a pet dies, I can't even _imagine_ being in that situation & losing a child. My brother went through a lot right after he was born because of CF (Cystic Fibrosis), but we were very fortunate. I know that time took a lot of my parents emotionally/mentally.
Faith's full name is "FAITH : The Unholy Trinity" That was only the first chapter, the third and last chapter is coming soon You can play the demo provided by Airdorf
When faith was released, it was just the one game. It got a sequel later in itch.io and still has the 3rd chapter under construction, now being published by new blood interactive
@@kittykittybangbang9367 Basically, a couple's (especially the wife) downward spiral of insanity after the loss of their child. It has genital mutilation and don't look up genital mutilation
FAITH is by far my favorite indie horror game. Its so simple, but the more of the story you encounter, the more of the world you uncover. You learn a lot about the characters and you get to see the ties of the Satanic Panic from the 70's and 80's. There's also a few secrets in each game. There are currently 2 full games out and 1 demo for the third game on Steam. PLEASE SUPPORT AIRDORF! ITS SUCH A WELL DONE, RETRO HORROR GAME!
It tells us not to judge a book by it's cover, it's a great game though but people hate it because they're saying ist's promoting 'animal abuse'. Huff...
Hylics was actually on display in a museum in Savannah when I was around twelve years old. Unfortunately I was too young to really understand the artistry of it. I'm so glad you could remind me of this masterpiece.
Yes please!! I know Higurashi, 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, and Doki doki would be perfect for that list! (Even though Doki doki was mentioned on this channel before)
This is the third time a Lisa game has appeared on one of these amazing lists and I have yet to play a single game, why am I this way? I must correct this error asap.
Crap man I haven't even finished the video in the first one made me want to cry I feel bad for the family that had to go through that it breaks my heart so much
I literally lie awake wishing I see more games like this. I'm so happy, Hylics, That Dragon Cancer and Lisa the Pointless got here, the Beginner's Guide. Like, emotional games, surreal games, dark games, just in general. Games with really heavy and emotional storytelling need to be made more.
I was actually really concerned why it was even on this list, but while I don't exactly agree that it should've been included, I'm glad they handled it beautifully.
I'm glad Joel's parents knew and had time to spend as much time with him as possible showing him he is loved. My father never told my brother and I and soon after we found out he died.
I was really pleasantly surprised to see so many games here that I'd never heard of before. That Dragon Cancer and The Beginner's Guide were the only games that I had heard of (and I own both!). Thank you for making another fantastic video!
That Dragon Cancer hits a little too close to home now that my mom has been battling cancer for months. She's at the end of her chemo treatment thankfully and me and my dad are crossing our fingers that it's effective and that she can get rid of it for good. Just thinking about the whole situation distresses me so I better stop my comment here before I start getting emotional, heh. Also, wonderful video, like always
That Dragon Cancer is just... I cannot explain it, it doesn't tug at your heartstrings, it forces you to go on this journey with this helpless toddler who just is.... Slowly, painfully dying and you can't do a damn thing to help him, to stop this from happening. I highly, /highly/ recommend this but it will take a lot from you.
I recall Manhunt 2 originally getting an AO rating for how graphic it was originally going to be, and Rockstar had to add in a filter to all the kills and even remove a couple of them in order to get an M rating (none of the first party console makers allow AO rated games to be sold on their systems, though as of 2021 some people are wondering if Nintendo of all companies might be the first to change this as the infamous spree killing simulator "Hatred" is confirmed to be getting a Switch port, plus the console is also home to the Postal 1 remaster, the game Hatred was inspired by). Manhunt 2 got an uncut PC port around 2009 I believe but from what I've seen legit ways to buy it have dried up over the years and Rockstar doesn't seem to be interested in giving it a Steam release. But given how games like Mortal Kombat X and 11 got away with just how graphic they are I wonder if a remake of Manhunt on the GTAV engine could do the same.
@@BloodRedFox2008 i don't care for Manhunt 2, but I would love to see the original remastered to run on The red dead 2 engine and maybe get an online mode.
That dragon cancer brought a lot of painful memories of when my mom was both diagnosed and passed away from cancer it’s worth it for those who’ve been curious about it for a while imo.
It’s time for That Creepy Reading’s Acts, He’ll inform you with some facts, He’s here to entertain, But may make you feel some pain, He’s the always clearly, Informative not crazy, That Creepy Reading guy! (To the tune of Animaniacs Intro)
dammit open up with a tear jerker guys.... that mother's words of hope really hits hard man.... that optimism before the tragidy ALWAYS hits the hardest when the end approaches
The entire Lisa series is among the best games of all time in my opinion. Austin did everything from music to gameplay and writing so well and I haven't seen many games get to that level. +it's amazing to see what the fans can do these days, Lisa the pointless and Lisa the hopeful are both awesome as hell
The dragon cancer really hits home… since i was right there, i was that dad, i had those same thoughts when my son was diagnose with cancer just a few months after he was born, fortunately is my case, my son beat cancer and he is my little champion that is now 6 years old, when i watched a gameplay of the game i couldnt help but tear up and just relive those times when i held my son daily in a hospital room, wishing everything would get better…
My interpretation of TBG is coda is Davey. Its the him that was able to make stanely parable. He lost touch with himself and would get inspiration then he'd get depressed try to change it losing the magic of what he was making. Thats how I've always thought of it.
Thanks for giving LISA: The Pointless recognition, imo very great game especially for a free fangame, and in good time too as the game is planned to receive a massive update relatively soon iirc. Last time I checked they were planning to release the long awaited “Monster Update” in late December (although not 100% certain it hasn’t been moved) which is the one that will rework the content and basically double the length of the game.
As a 2 time survivor of brain bancer. That Dragon Cancer hits the hardest for me. It's just so sad to see them go with so little time to see the world, make friends, to ride a bike. Rest in Peace Joel Green.
Welcome back! I love your channel so much, it gets me through slow work days and helps me get through the days where I feel like I can’t do anything. So thanks for all you do :) How’s JJBA? I agree it’s a trip but it’s on the top 5 of my favorite animes, and the art-style is absolutely awesome
That Dragon Cancer. Just hearing about that game is making me cry. What a powerful piece of art. My nephew is dying and I really struggle to make sense of it. I'm afraid to play that game.
Hylics is probably one of my favorite games and I still constantly wonder if there is meaning under it all. The second one hints at there really being some story
Watching that footage from Hylics kind of looked like something out of the Codex Serafinianus. (it's an art book that resembles an alien world's encyclopedia.)
Hey that creepy reading, I just wanted to let you know that you're a great content creator and a great person and most of your fanbase will agree with me on that, you put your full heart into these videos and we can see it and I just wrote this comment just in case you ever forget
I really love the videos that cover disturbing video games. Do you think you'll ever cover Ib in one of these? It was another of the rpg maker horror games but I thought it was one of the best with it's creepy art gallery setting that the creator used to their full advantage and the antagonist Mary who was willing to either trap or kill one of the two protagonists because she wanted to be a real person. It was always my favorite of the lot and I'm afraid of it getting forgotten and left behind since, unlike some of the other rpg horror games, it hasn't been put up on sites like steam and it's original download link has become kinda sketchy
I think the reason why I like Hylics is because there is no deeper meaning to any of it's nonsense. You just gotta let the art and visuals speak to you in a language no one understands and enjoy the trippy ride.
That dragon cancer It's hits home with me I was 4 when I got sick with cancer, it's left me mentally scarred and emotionally distant. I've lost so many friends to it that I fear making friends, it's a life that no kids or adult should experience.
This is one of my favorite channels! Watching the videos kinda calm me down when im anxious thanks to the calm tone of voice, and it makes the content even more mysterious. Keep the amazing work!! I hope you enjoy your jojo by the way! ^3^
I've got one phrase to add to The Beginners Guide: "Death of the Author". I feel like that whole game was an example in that theory. And what does "Death of the Author" mean? The Short Version? It's an essay by literary critic Roland Barthes. In this essay Roland talks about how one should read a piece of literature without any knowledge of the author, what his/her political or religious views are or what his/hers intentions were and just look at the work itself and how it speaks to us, the readers. In "The beginners guide" the narrator is making the very mistake of ADDING what is presumably Codas life and thoughts. Instead of just talking about the games themselves and why they are so great and fun to play, The Narrator talks more about Coda and how his psyche plays a part into these games.
Honestly, kind of surprised Oneshot isn't on any of these lists. The game, while charming, is pretty damn foreboding and surreal at times, instilling paranoia with some of its 4th wall breaks. It also deals with pretty heavy subject matter when it comes to depression, anxiety and existentialism. It's a decent game that I hope you'll check out eventually!
wow, that paint handprint scene actually got me to tear up. I really don't have words to tell the parents other than I am so sorry for everyone's loss.
After spending loads of time playing LSD Dream Emulator, I'd say it and Klonoa have been by far the most accurate when it comes to depicting how I dream. Touching random objects causing you to be transported to another place after a certain time. Everything fading to white when you're about to wake up and many more. I should go and revisit it sometime as there's specific things I have not yet encountered there yet.
