Loved the video! Ever since we passed the age of 30 my husband and I have realized it’s worth spending more on things like good quality shoes, mattress, pillows and office chairs (we both work from home some of the time). These things make such a big difference in how our bodies feel every day. They’re pricey but so worth it to not have back, neck, or foot pain.

I love how genuine and humble you are. You have no idea how rare that is in this world, especially on the internet. Lovely channel.

Food is also my number one splurge. I hate eating in restaurants and thanks to the pandemic was able to stay out of them and lost 25 pounds. I prefer spending money on fresh produce at the grocery store. You look positively radiant, Vika! It always warms my heart when I’ve seen you put a new video out. Thanks for sharing this one!

gosh, the day I figured out how to properly gift give my budget changed drastically (and not for the better LOL). I adore making little collections of items I know someone will love. It is SO fun to go out and collect this random assortment of items that I know will be so fun and meaningful to open.

Totally agree on spending money on travelling and experiences rather than objects. It makes you happier. I don't need the latest iPhone or to spend lots of money on fancy clothes. Travelling the world (and continuing to do so) is my favourite thing to do. When I am older I will look back on everything with good memories and be happy that I did it. I won't care about what kind of TV I have! I'll never regret spending thousands on travel compared to other things.

I think you and your husband are wise beyond your years.I have told you before I'm 3 times your age and have truly been blessed and honestly y'all have helped me want to live.

I really love your minimalism videos because I myself am not that frugal. My boyfriend is more saving/minimalistic than I am, and so I love hearing your perspective and thinking about how I can change my perspective on money. If I could pick one category, my favorite splurge is definitely food/drink

My partner and I have been together for 8 years and we recently finished studying. We had to furnish our entire flat and I made sure to buy quality, durable things that I liked 100%, regardless of the price. Even if it took us longer to pay, at least then I knew that the dining table would last me 10 years, and so on with every item we chose. We will finish paying for everything now in June, so I'm very happy! Since we have more income (we used to be students), what I don't save on is: food, health (but now that we work, we have really good private healthcare plans, that we even pay less than before when we where just students haha is so weird), books, eating out. Otherwise, I try to stay within budget, though. Furniture and electronics we don't buy because we have everything we need. I try not to be tempted by new things and consume less. When we have more money at our disposal I don't think I would save on travel either. :)

I love the things that you splurge on. They all make perfect sense and many of them involve giving to others which is so important. Personally I like you will spend on pretty much anything that my husband wants. He never asks for much, so the few times that he does ask for something I am more than happy to be able to give to him. I also give money to family that needs it without any conditions. As far as I'm concerned it is theirs to keep. My husband and I are retired now so our income is limited so we watch our pennies. We don't want a lot just a roof over our heads, food on the table, and each other. My 1 obsession though is cross-stitching so whenever I get the opportunity to purchase floss or fabric while at a thrift store I do make those purchases for myself. To answer your question - plants! I spend waaaay too much on plants. And not just house plants, I also love my garden and buy trees when I’m sad or seeds for next year‘s growing season. It brings me so much joy so it’s the right decision for me, even if it’s not necessary as a minimalist. Love your video 💚

I made a personal choice a few years ago to only give money to the personal individual instead of a big organization. So, I tip extra, buy bigger gifts and give directly to the individual. That way I know exactly where my money went and I am happy. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I love thrift stores and get my clothes from there. My husband also will NOT get clothes from a thrift store so we purchase his clothes new. I am so glad to hear you give to those in need. We should all do this!

Vika, you and your family are precious. You are very good at homemaking and budgeting. My budget downfall is eating out. Like you, love to give gifts. I used to thrift store too much so I had to ban myself from there till I got some control. Loved the video!

Agatha is a cutie !! Happy Anniversary!! Love your dress!! My teen daughter and I love second hand shopping. Husband is ok with Walmart so that is not very expensive. We love travel too. I didn't get to do that very much as a child and now have been able to do more. The pandemic really made things worse for us. My husband is a minimalist and thinks we just have way too much stuff!!! He went on grand trips as a teen so stuff is not as important. He just needs a TV 📺 and his phone 📱 and a good bed!! .. and food. So we are similar to you!!

I agree with the splurging on food! Especially since I started my weight loss journey, I try to be mindful of the things I eat because I eat way less than before and I want to emjoy the things I DO eat. That doesn't mean that I only buy "healthy" foods, but I usually make sure to buy foods that I know I like and that I am excited to eat. I also like to pre-plan my meals for the week and buy the ingredients in bulk, so I always have the stuff to make something nice in my house.

I also love simplicity :)

I'm growing some of my food in the backyard: herbs, tomatoes, stuff like that. Everything is organic and healthy and the taste is awesome and insanely expensive. More important, this is the only sort of exercising that I can tolerate, I've never been so fit in 15 years, the improvement in my quality of life is worth all the extra money I spend.

I too buy good quality electronics and never refurbished because unless you are a techie you do not know what you are getting. I also help others as much as possible. Good quality and good fitting clothes are important so they last longer. I love books and can’t resist buying new ones.

I find the things I spend the most money on are food, mental health, and friend activities/outings. :) I tend to be reluctant to buy "things" for myself, be it clothes or electronics or something else. I also have a "if it's not broken or lost, don't replace it" attitude.

You are such a beautiful genuine person. I love watching your videos. You’re in full bloom like a flower,and I hope you are feeling well during your pregnancy. I have to hold myself back…a lot! Especially during these times, wasting money is not wise to do. I love buying perennial plants to put outdoors, all kinds, and planting flowers to put on our deck. I buy a lot of different kinds of wild bird seed and peanuts to feed the wild birds…spend too much money on them. 🙃 I love home improvements and I have to be careful with Amazon, it’s just too easy. I don’t like debt and always try to be careful not to create any. 🇺🇸🌻

I like to save money whenever I can, especially on routine expenses. I have been putting money into our retirement accounts for many years. We like to splurge sometimes by taking our adult children and their families out to eat. We also like to purchase good electronics and to get good and fast internet. I am definitely not a minimalist but I strive to be one! I agree with you about buying new electronics. I also will only buy new cars. I’ve had too many headaches with used cars. So I buy new cars but I keep a new car for many years. Right now I am driving a car I bought new in 2014 and I have no plans to buy another car. I buy very little clothing but I spend too much money on my hobbies and eating out. I liked your cooking videos because it gave me ideas for good but simple food to fix at home. Happy Anniversary! I absolutely share your view on the importance of sharing what we're blessed to have, both with friends and family and with charities etc. That's one place I like to splurge too. I'm not a minimalist, but in general I'm careful with spending money, especially on myself. It's easier to buy things for my husband and kids 😊

My wife and I are admittedly not super great about saving, but we do ok. What we spend the most money on is local trips. Michigan is a beautiful state and there is lots to do … and many expensive Airbnb’s around! Once we come out of winter hibernation, we start planning short getaways for Summer and Fall. I am perfectly okay with thrifting clothes but I had to introduce my wife to that. I don’t understand buying from catalogues or stores (unless there is a sizing issue which I have to deal with as well) - but that is what she grew up with so she is adjusting to second-hand shopping.

I have a very generous nature, but up until about 6 years ago, I simply did not have the resources to share like I wanted. I think giving money to friends and family is a very beautiful virtue. I also try to be generous to my friends because we are all students and my parents can financially support me, but not everyone is that lucky. Sadly German culture receiving "free money" is often looked down upon so many people feel bad for accepting gifts even if they're struggling.

aww love your videos, with the cost of living rising so much here in UK we have been trying to economise. The exceptions are my teenage son has acne at the moment so I have bought some good teen skincare for him and my daughter likes drama at school, so I have booked a couple of stage musicals for her and I to go and see. With food though we happily do "drop a brand save a grand" but not with bread, tea or jam. so interesting to hear what others prioritise. love to you all xx
