Parking enforcement is so annoying and unnecessary

Parking enforcement is totally necessary. If you consider how many infringements of parking laws are identified on any given day, (I issued 60 notices yesterday), with drivers knowing the risk of getting caught, you have to think what they would do if they knew there was no enforcement. If time limits are not enforced then only those people who arrive first would find parking as their vehicles would remain parked all day. No stopping areas, whether permanent or just for specific times are restricted to maintain the safety of the road system, these areas would get parked up if not enforced. People parking on fire hydrants or facing the wrong way need to know there is a cost to breaking the law. And those people who block clearways, cycle lanes, footpaths, in or close to intersections, on pedestrian crossings, and bus lanes are putting other road users in danger. One role that keeps us particularly busy is people parking over other peoples vehicle entrances, stopping vehicles e tering or exiting both private properties and commercial properties, including parking across carpark entrances on occasions. Then you have the work that PO do around schools to keep kids safe when they are arriving or leaving, parents seem to have very little concern except not having to walk their child to far to the school gate. Not to mention those vehicles being used in an unsafe condition, with plates removed, and no registration. If there was no enforcement the public would be crying out for enforcement to be introduced, just so that they could get around.

@@fattwat1 Sir there are private jobs that get leniency too not just government jobs. For example it's illegal to park in the street but don't power, cable and telephone companies do it all the time to do their jobs? Point is you can't be so ridgid in your thinking. Some jobs have to have flexibility to do things regular citizens cannot.

@fattwat1 Yes, she is using her ipad or computer while she patrols, but she's going 4mph and it's in a parking lot, its not the same as driving on the roads or Hwys "texting and driving." Not even close! Besides, cops do it too. The "Laws" don't apply to them, I quess.?

fattwat1 she is scanning license plates as she’s driving by the cars. Then info shows up on her computer. Especially if the car has outstanding tickets.
