Im glad you brought up the Dudley podcast being new to the archery world I had no idea who the guy was and he just came out firing against Troy without even listening to his counter statements. But hats off to Troy he handled it completely diplomatically.

Troy puts out some very good information and if you choose to use the information that he puts out you will have nothing but positive results that is a true statement.

I would absolutely love to Have Troy test the 150 Swahacker on a 520-600 grain. I have never heard or seen bad blood trails or no pass through or anything of that nature when this head is on a proper hunting weight arrow. 2 shoulders on pigs and in the dirt. Complete pass through on a black bear from a older slower recurve crossbow. Complete pass through from centre of chest out a deers butt and in the dirt. These are just some testimonies I know of. And they retain the sharpness because they don’t open until inside past the bone and if they fail they are still a 1” cut like every fixed.

There is forsure merit in putting expandables on a heavier arrow. The problem with most of them is that they only just stay together on a lighter arrow. Most of them are a one and done.

@@Mat-Miller true but that’s because most use 100 grains. That would happen with a fixed too. The 100 grain bolt cutters excalibur sells now break. 150 though is much more durable and can often be re sharpened or even bent back with a rubber mallet and a block of wood. I will agree they are typically a one and done. But they are much more affordable. Also single bevels break or tips roll too. Now a good fixed blade is durable but affordable is now in question. I will not pay 250 or 300 plus shipping for 1-3 Broadheads. Mostly this is conversion costs and shipping as well as double taxes but how the money breaks down is regardless as it’s still the finally price. I can get 3packs of 3 for that from Swahacker. So that’s 9 heads instead of 1-3. And again one is a bigger cut the other is the size of a nickel maybe a quarter. Now neither heads if they pass through is going to be a live animal. Most often when the arrow or bolt leaves the body they get lost. My experience with targets in the back yard I have lost bolts because of soft ground. So if the arrow or bolt is lost 50 percent of the time it’s a gone head and arrow. This is a one and done unless you get lucky. At least with Swahacker a lot of energy is spent on the opening and it doesn’t need a lot to get out so typically it’s arrow on the ground and a dead deer with 1” entrance and 3” or better exit slightly lower than entrance. So all factors need to be looked at but I would not count on always finding an adult arrow setup. Troy has feeders and hard solid dry ground. You go somewhere that’s more soft on public it’s a lost arrow.

@@chrisruzsa2798 Yeah most 100grain fixed heads are not one and dones though.... well as long as you are not buying garbage. But you are right about the expandables being 100grains is the main reason. You lost me with having to beat them into shape sorry hahaha. That is a one and done. I am not sure where you are based, but if you get yourself a pack or two of VPA heads, they are good tool steel and should cost you about $100 landed. I have been shooting the single bevels now for 2 and a half years, and in the first year I harvested 22 animals on the original 6 heads. The only time I needed to replace them was when I lost the whole arrow 😥. Sure they get dull or a few chips in them, but those come out easy on a stone and you are good to go. You never need to bend or hit them back into shape and they still fly good. I am sure you heard me say in this though, that I think Single Bevels are a bit too efficient if you are using a 70lb bow and I would like to see a wider version come out still. Great conversation and chat mate, love it!

@@Mat-Miller yeah that is the problem with these heads you need them in a lighter arrow so they don’t get lost lol. But they are not overly expensive as I have seen others they are about the same price as Swahackers actually. Thanks for the broadhead idea I will definitely grab a few packs of them in near future.

I do know my opinion has changed since your first time talking with Troy. I don't rock with the Heavy setups anymore. Trading my after impact performance/increased margin of error against bone, for increased yardage guess margin of error via a MUCH flatter trajectory. not gonna look back

Yeah I mean, I am not sure your weight, but I sit between 500 and 550 grains most of the time now. Still getting 290FPS from that.
