“Is” a linking & helping verb. Here are examples of "am," "is," and "are" used as both helping verbs and linking verbs:"Am," "is," and "are" can function as both helping verbs and linking verbs. As helping verbs, they assist the main verb in a sentence. As linking verbs, they connect the subject to a subject complement, often a noun or adjective, to describe or rename the subject. **Helping Verbs:** 1. I am eating dinner. 2. She is studying for the exam. 3. They are playing football. **Linking Verbs:** 1. I am tired. 2. The cake is delicious. 3. The students are excited. In these examples, the first set shows the verbs as helping verbs, assisting the main verb (eating, studying, playing), and the second set shows them as linking verbs, connecting the subject (I, cake, students) to a complement (tired, delicious, excited)

Amazing explanation! One question. "I am a teacher". In this sentence, "am" is not a state verb since it does not indicate status of being a teacher. It simply joins I and teacher. so, am is a linking verb, not a state verb. Do you any thoughts on this?
@HomeschoolingwithHira
@HomeschoolingwithHira 8 месяцев назад
Yes, it's a linking verb. A linking verb is also a static verb that connects the subject to its complement. What is the difference between auxiliary verb and stative verb ? Auxiliary verb and stative verb both include is, am, are etc
@HomeschoolingwithHira
@HomeschoolingwithHira 10 месяцев назад
Auxiliary verbs help the main verb to tell the time of the action. However, when "is, am, are, was, or were" are used as state verbs or more precisely linking verbs, they are not helping verbs but work as the main verb. To understand it better, you can watch the video given below, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EILQfYnulkE.html

It's a very good video, in terms of structure , content and clarity. However, it has many errors which unless corrected ,will be transmitted to the student. Example : 1. Pronunciation : pat vs pet, Halp vs help, ani vs any ( eni), 2. supports the poor, not poors. (cf supports the rich, not richs!) 3. Confusion rather than Confusions. 4. More simple, OR, simpler, (not more simpler)

hi, thanks i have a question about the verb "read" are we sure that is a intransitive verb? because if someone says that he reads we can ask what is he reads?
@HomeschoolingwithHira
@HomeschoolingwithHira 6 месяцев назад
Hi there, This video is intended to give the basic concepts only. For Transitive Verbs, the concept we give to kids is only if it's transferring its action to an object. There is a lot of depth in this topic because there are some verbs which are always intransitive and some that can be used in both ways. It's better you don't only rely on this video but check out this concept on www.grammarmonster.com or www.grammarly.com Hope this helps.

Mam could we use for less...... " For example, "She may come to the party" indicates a relatively strong possibility, while "She might come to the party" implies a bit less certainty. "She could come to the party" suggests a possibility, but it's the least strong among the three.
@HomeschoolingwithHira
@HomeschoolingwithHira 7 месяцев назад
Hi there, May, might, must, could, should, etc are modal verbs and I have explained them thoroughly in the video shared below. For "may" and "might", you are right but for "could", we have different ways of using it. It can be a past possibility or it can also be an offer or suggestion; it depends on the context it's used in. However, please check out this video. You'll get some more information about this topic. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BsZlameQIFg.html
