If he didn't call the cops and tell them, then absences at a school, absence from his mom's house, coyotes and vultures coming to the home, or the smell of a dead body could have motivated people to tell the cops about those things.

@@chincemagnet I assume they didn't have a phone however I'm sure if he had run into the street screaming "call 911 for my child!" someone would've called. That poor kid having to live like that and then pass away is devastating 😔.

So, this next door neighbor was all too eager to go out and buy a t-shirt to announce his "war on pronouns", but didn't bother to do anything about the boy that desperately needed someone's help right next door. That child didn't die "suddenly and accidentally". He was living a horrible life, in squalor, and most likely with an abusive father. Neighbor couldn't figure out that the house next door was ALWAYS dark with no electricity day & night, dad drunk all the time, no running water, and young kid with no mom around , then kid eventually disappears?? But Mr. Hero didn't bother to look into it or even call anonymously for a welfare check when the kid was alive,.. and now says he "would have done anything to help". Wow. But don't worry Everyone, at least he's got the war on pronouns covered! This is where we are.

That is absolutely a tragedy I'm so sad to hear 9 years old. He could have asked somebody for some help or even advice should never ever let your children be a victim of starvation he didn't have to let his son live in poor living conditions you never give up on your children you always make sure they have what they need the main necessities running water a roof over their heads and food on the table may God take that little boy and comfort him and give him a good home rest in peace little man. I know what it's like to not have food on the table I was 11 and we were starving we had to go to St Francis mission on Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia we will go there by 7:00 for breakfast then we will go back about 4:00 for dinner we didn't have running water and we didn't have a bathroom we had a hose Outback that was connected to the pipe in the basement the rest of the house had no water and it was only cold water winter times are tough taking a shower outside in the snow I used to shine shoes so we can have kerosene add eggs and bread. It was not the fault of my parents my mother did ask for help we were living on the streets before that she went to the city and asked about City housing they didn't help us then she filed for Section 8 the worst part is Section 8 didn't help us neither so we lived in an abandoned house and we did everything we could just to keep going we never gave up I told my mom when I was 12 that I would get her a house when I got older I told my father he get his motorcycle back cuz he had to sell it to get us back so in essence they sold our home and my dad's motorcycle to pay for lawyer fees and everything else to get us back so when we came home we had nothing and we had a struggle what's the best part was we were with our mom and dad. All we need is a hand up not a hand out. And yes later on when I hit 40 I bought a home so my mother and father can live in it and I did get my father a motorcycle those things are not brand new they were the house was a fixer upper and the Motorcycle needed to work but I fixed it now she has a house what's the worst part is 30 something years later Section 8 got in contact with my mother by then it was way too late I've kept my promise I don't count on the political system for anything put some Churches and some places do help Americans The Political Criminals never will they only help themselves what's money from your hard-earned pocket see they don't mind helping and funding illegals and giving them free medical and $5,000 checks to come into this country illegally and then if they make it to New York they'll get $ 15,000 and a 2400 dollar prepaid Visa card every month plus free housing. Now is that spit an American people's face that just goes to show you corrupted politicians don't care about the American people for their children or the homeless Vet Center on the street they only care about lining their pockets for the American people's tax dollars
While your assessment is correct, with instances like this the people don't want help, there wasn't a logical reason he did this he just didn't feel like taking care of the kid, and despite resources existing to help he didn't care.
This why education system needs to bring back caseworker who used to go knock on doors with the Sheriff's to see why a child is not going to school, has abused signs, mental abuse signs, ect. I don’t believe the reporter is blaming venomous spiders for the child’s death. It’s being mentioned as one of several examples of the unsafe conditions the child was living in.
People say things are getting worse, but before the internet or TV this sort of thing happened a lot more and was reported a lot less. Especially for child laborers. Even though there were child labor laws, people didn't start abiding by them for several decades after the law was enacted.

I’m sorry this happened. May I ask which state you live in? Was there a court order in place indicating his mother is the primary guardian? If not, the police usually tell parents they have to go to court and they refuse to intervene. However, if you haven’t been legally identified as the child’s father or you’re not on the birth certificate, you will need to establish paternity to assert your rights. Good luck and don’t ever give up fighting for your son!
When I was going to college in the 1990's I rented a room from a lady that worked with child protective services and what I saw was horrifying. children beaten, starved, neglected. Im sorry to hear this boy didn't get any help. Child abuse is everywhere & the children are our future 😢
That little boy was failed by everyone that lived around him they knew that there was no running water in that mobile home they knew the dad had a drinking problem but they all chose a blind eye what a bad community that child had no chances he fell through the system
