I feel like they both abuse the control that they have when they are in their own countries, I don't know if I see if one partner is necessarily more controlling than the other one in general but, only when it comes to being in their countries when I see one or the other take more control because of the lack of cultural awareness their partner has. For example when Nicole was in Egypt and she had became close with the woman who does yoga, Nicole wasn't aware of how much more freedom she could have in other parts of Egypt rather than with Mahmouds conservative religious family, and that not everyone lived the same as them, but Nicole never experienced that because she believed Mahmouds traditonal way of living was the only way because of what he told her. Now, we can see this same thing happening with Nicole and being in the United States. I mean in the first episode she nags at him for crosssing the street incorrectly and tells him he could get "arrested" for that. Like cmon we know it's just a ticketable offense, but my point is they both do it to eachother almost as a scare tactic and to let eachother know who is the dominant one in whichever country they reside in at the time. It seems that Nicole acts this way more out of spite and revenge more than anything. But, that's just my opinion.

I feel alone just watching Mahmoud go through this. He has no one and he's in a strange place stuck with this sadistic twisted woman. I knew she was a phony in the last season pretending to be a victim and not sticking up for him at all in the tell all. He was nowhere near as awful when she went to Egypt, and his family was kind to her. She just goes out of her way to make him suffer, even when her friends were trying to connect with him, she started abusing him and trying to turn them against him. She knows she's wrong and she's still too arrogant and too much of an evil witch to own up and apologize.

It’s his first time away from home, his first time being on a plane ride/so many hours. He agreed to try, but she tested him the moment he landed…showing her stomach and repeatedly kissing him when she knows how he feels about it. She was inconsiderate and mad that he didn’t sleep on the plane, like she does. Too selfish and dumb to realize that he probably couldn’t sleep because he’s automatically homesick, never been on a plane, he’s nervous, he’s from a Muslim country, and he’s probably not comfortable sleeping around strangers. I’ve traveled a lot too, but never sleep on the plane. Then she had the naked mannequins that she could’ve easily added a robe and the bush wall painting. She tries to make him believe that Americans have cold sugary pastries for breakfast and cheap frozen pizza for dinner. He’s clearly tired from the long plane ride and time difference, but she forces him to walk around, then accuses him of wanting a Muslim wife after seeing a woman with a hijab. He was not flirting. Then, she automatically tells him, she’ll send his a$s back to Egypt. Again, she’s showing her back/wanting him to have dinner with her friends. Still no time to rest, no hot meal. She picks an argument, he wants to stay home. She brings her friends back home without any heads up. Got mad when he was cordial, picks another argument, tells him to leave. All of this within two days. Folks can call him controlling, but she was not treated this way in his country. She was living in Egypt and perused him, knowing he was religious and his expectations for a wife. She willingly converted. No one forced her. If she didn’t like how he was as a person or didn’t share his beliefs, she could’ve ended things with him and looked for someone else more compatible to marry. When someone you love is visiting for the first time, it’s common courtesy to make them feel welcome. If they are traveling/relocating from another country, try to make them feel at home. If you know their religious beliefs try to compromise. Put a robe on the mannequins. Take down that hideous painting. Understand that maybe she works from home. But, she can fold the work table to add to the living space so guests can sit on a sofa, watch TV, instead of standing up. Get stools for the bar. Maybe have some framed pictures of them as a couple or a wedding picture. A welcome home sign would’ve been nice. She’s a 40 year old woman without kids running around. She had plenty of time to prepare, knowing his situation. But, she bought him a pair of thrift store boxers, really? Shaeeda always look very attractive/fashionable and dress modestly. Nicole show take note. His first evening, should’ve just hugged him and told him how happy she was to see him, ask about his flight. She could’ve ran him a warm bubble bath. She could’ve already had the food prepared or marinating so it could be ready by the time his bath was done. Prepare the salad/fruit/dinner plates, add a candle. This could’ve been the most memorable day of his life. Alone with his wife, without relatives. She’s his first girlfriend/wife, so of course he loves her. But, she’s hateful, immature, and acts like she has mental issues. Her behavior is childish and not normal. I agree with him when he said it’s about her showing him that she has the power and she is trying to hurt him. She’s trying to belittle him, break him. I hope he goes back home or stay, get the green card, and bounce!
