Rollerblading or inline skating was at the top in the 1990s. 29.1 millions people were putting on inline skates and it was everywhere. MTV sport, Movies like Airborne and there were lots of amazing brands.
I’m going to take a deep dive into brands like Cozmo wheels, FR, England Clothing, Fiction and tell the story behind this amazing rollerblading brands from the 90s.
Where did the first grind plates come from? Which brand was previously know as Sumo. How did 50/50 start? Why were Cozmo wheels so good?

Little bit of extra history about Blood. It didn't technically go away. A little over 20 years ago, Blood became Eulogy Wheels. Both were started and run by Isaac Oltmans who, continues to maintain the brand today.

Good flashback fella. I remember ringing around a bunch of UK skate shops to acquire a white/grey camouflage Hangers pullover jacket. Back in those days I’d be posting off cheques written out by my parents to shops in the US to have them ship me 50/50 frames and juice kits to the UK, some of which I still have today. Great days

What an absolute nostalgia overload Tom. Thanks for this. How great were the 90's skating shirts? I mean, what better way to come off* as a "bright kid, but with a mysterious edge" at your local middle/high-school? Brand names no one heard of, but were all strangely alluring. Funny, I had to turn my Medium "Cartoon Violence" shirt inside out the one day I wore it to school.

Another interesting aspect of the money behind rollerblading in the 90s was brands that were associated with rollerblading but had no team, no kudos or respect in the community etc. UK classic being Bernie’s Blade jeans? Or Bleu Bolt jeans, was mental seeing gen z kids wearing those a couple of years ago. Full rip off of Senate ultrawides. I am definitely sure more examples of this.

@@TomMoyse dodgy brands mate. I wrote a letter to Jess D at England clothing to ask him why he kept using images from near where I lived in London in their ads. Included my info as a little 15 year old. Few months later I get the 5 panel cap, tshirt and loads of stickers and an explanation. It was all photos taken around his parents house.. He was really pleased that bladers were from his old neighbourhood. I nearly wept with happiness months after sending the letter and finding the package on the kitchen table after school.
