Wow I just got to see under many of our floor boards I have never seen before!! Newly found storage. We are going to put heat in instead of air conditioning. I will check for the wiring and hoses in our boat come springtime. Thanks for sharing

Lift the air conditioning unit and install a rubber mat to dampen the noise even more..but you'll need to redo the cover a little higher again.

The noise is the air flow…it’s so loud, like a jet engine lol

Neptunes Reaper it really blows hard. As soon as we got it installed, the weather got cool and we never got a chance to use it 🙄

Rob, Maria...how often do you run descaler through your unit? Any tips or tricks? Thanks!
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 2 года назад
Truthfully, we have only been sailing lake erie, and it rarely gets hot enough to use the ac. We haven't really even considered any kind of maintenance on the unit yet. We will head out next year...going south and to the Caribbean where Im Sure it will get more use.

Does the air conditioner have an hot air exhaust? Doesn’t look like it. I have a hunter29.5. Trying to copy you or get a portable unit in the head area.
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 3 года назад
There is no hot air exhaust. The seawater that is pumped into the system is ran trough the unit, then discharged out of the side of the boat takes the place of that process.

What was the hole you made for the outside for? I thought you used the bilge for the condensation
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 3 года назад
The hole on the outside is for the seawater discharge. The unit uses seawater to cool down the air. It kinda works like the seawater cooling system on your engine. The drain into the bilge is just condensation.

Doesn't it use refrigerant to cool the air? And seawater to cool the refrigerant so that the compressor doesn't have to work so hard?
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana Год назад
@@farginicehole513 it does use refrigerant to cool the air, but unlike the ac unit in your car or house, it does not have any components outside for air circulation so it uses the seawater to “pre-cool” the air….at least that’s the way I understand it.

How it’s working so far?, could I use it in my semi truck ? Can it be used for heating or just for cooling? Could it be powered by Honda 2200i generator? I’m sorry for to many questions
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 2 года назад
The AC works great; it does have heat, but we’ve never had to use the heat, but it did work. A Honda 2200 is probably not big enough to run the 16k but I’ve heard it will run a 6k BTU. This particular unit is made to have water flow through the system, so it would not work on a truck or RV.

Sorry for the kibitz but your head intake only has one clamp on the hose…
@SailingPauHana

All through-hull hosea are double clamped now......good observation. We left for a long trip in September and we made sure we went through the whole boat looking fir potential issues....we took care of everything we found. We go back on the hard tomorrow to update the boat even more for next season. Thanks for watching

Where did you run the condensate drain? Nice job.
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 3 года назад
Right now it runs to the bilge, but I am working on running it to the front shower sump-box. I need to buy a new sump-box for both showers, then I will run the drain to the front one.

AC on solar system on a sailboat get the smallest most energy efficient window unit you can find. Install it in the v-birth draining into the chain locker. But for it to really work you're going to need large lithium battery bank and a large solar array more than you think otherwise run it off a generator.

Please double check the "saw dust"...looks like termite droppings.
@SailingPauHana
@SailingPauHana 3 года назад
Definitely sawdust. No termites on this boat. We fumigate very often. Lots of spiders outside though.

Is it solar powered? That's what I'm trying to do on my sailboat.
@sailingpauhana1357
@sailingpauhana1357 4 года назад
No, not solar powered. If we put enough batteries in the boat, we may be able to get to that point, but that is not on our radar right now. Thanks for watching.
