Cool! I miss bikes from that era. The design, colors and simplicity made them awesome. I've got a couple 00's Stumpjumpers and they keep my local trails sketchy. Thank you for the entertainment and keeping these classics rolling.

My first mountain bike, which I still own. Apart from a bit of chainsuck damage to the paint on the chainstay, still in pretty good condition.

You own this same model? That is awesome! Hope it still gets to experience the outdoors from time to time 😎💕

Wow, that frame is a dream… and in such good condition. I’m always amazed by the color combinations in your builds. BTW I’ve seen Park Tool recommend using thread locker instead of grease in the brake post mounts in their cantilever setup video series, and I had one screw come loose in one of my bikes the other day (I always used grease), so there may be some truth to it after all…

Thank you very much! Interesting point you raise. Never had that issue, but will look into it. Appreciate the feedback!

I would say a frame with intact paint even if it’s mate finish is great condition tbh.

My SPECIALIZED STUMPJUMPER M2: I walked into a Goodwill Store one day, noticed a couple of kids bikes on the wall, said to myself: "Self, you don't need to buy another kid's bike!" and then came to a screeching halt when what I'd seen percolated through my foggy brain. A few minutes later I bought this bright red bike for $12.47! Specialized (SBC) M2 Metal Matric Ceramic Components, W6A.10A, 15-5" Frame, c1997?, SN unknown. SBC 115mm Stem Ritchey Forcelite 6061 T6 170gm Flat Bar (Orig?) w AME Grips (my add) Manitou Pro Front Fork (Coil/MCU) Tange Headset (STE-AL 1 1/8?) Matrix Swami 26x1.9 Rims (Orig: Mavic 238 DW 32?) w unknown tubes w Three Cross Spokes System 2 Components Front Hub (Orig: SBC Stout?) Shimano Deore LX FH-M565 Viam Rear Hub (Orig) Continental DoubleFighter 26x1.9 Tyres (Orig: SBC Team C/M) SBC Forged Aluminium B10 47mm 170mm Cranks (SBC Son Strongarm) Rock Bros Pedals (my add)(Orig: Ritchey Logic C-less) Avid 1D Front Caliper Avid Single Digit 3R Rear Caliper Avid Speed Dial 1.9L Brake Levers (Orig and beat up) Jagwire brake Pads (my add) TR Seat Post (Orig?) Giant Seat Post Clamp (my add) Gorix Seat Spring (my add) Bontrager SSR Saddle (my add)(Orig: SBC Prolong Evo) Advent Bottle Cage (my add) CSSIII Chain Ring: CSPS 42R/32/22 (Orig: SBC Exp 22/32/42 (I may replace with a single 42) Shimano Deore LX Front Shifter (damaged, worn out, cable removed, may replace w SL-M-315-3L?) Shimano Deore LX Front Derailleur (inoperable, removed) Shimano Deore LX Rear Shifter (a 3spd shifter? worn, I will replace w SL-M-315-8R?) Shimano Deore LX Rear Derailleur with Integrated 8 SIS long (85mm) cage Shimano Hyper Glide 8 speed cassette: 28-24-21-18-16-14-12-11 KMC Z Narrow chain (Replace w KMC X8?) 27.6 pounds I'm 5'10" tall, 168 pounds, 80yo; the 15.5" frame is too small for me but I've sized the seat and stem up and it rides even softer than my Moulton AM7! I was hit from behind by a truck while cycling last year; traffic is even worse this year. So I won't be riding streets or aggressively. I'm thinking of using this bike on a local 2mi cinder, flat track that I already exercise walk every day. Any suggestions?

youll probably want a swept back riser bar on that bike only cause the top tube is so long on most 90s mountain bikes.
@bottoncino_bicycles
@bottoncino_bicycles Месяц назад
You are right on the top tube length in relation to the seat tube. If you check out the saddle height, we made sure to go for a small enough frame size to ensure a good riding position. The stem also has short reach and high rise, so should be all good 👍
