Nice frame and great conversion. My 1996 chrome aluminium Giant Terrago is very similar, I wonder if I could do a conversion for 27.5" rims, although the closest idea I have is to leave it as it is by changing only the handlebars to a flared Surly bar and putting a rigid fork with V-Brakes to keep the original Magura ones.

Great build! How are the muqzi long v-brakes with the drop-bar levers, does the lever pull enough cable and feel ok?? Usually cannot use that kind of lever with v-brake.

With 28" wheels it's tight, but now I switched to 27.5" and it works perfectly

Wonderful build and nicely filmed and edited! I just love the old CADEX frames so much and they can fit all sorts of tires! I've been searching for a 22" frame too but they seem to be a bit rare lately. I have 2 20" GIANT CADEX, one which still runs 26"x2,20" for offroad trails and one that I upgraded to 27,5"x1,90 fixed Gear/ssp - both with drop-bars! Hopefully I will find a bigger frame soon as I am quite tall.. Your build just looks awesome, which tire size are those exactly? They fit extremely well to the geometry of the big frame! Can you recommend the Sensah Groupset? Did you ride it more frequently lately and have some experience? greetings, your fellow Cadex fangirl, Millie

Thanks a lot! These are Schwalbe G One 28" 622x40c, no clue how the width relates to inch ;) but I switched also to 27.5" with 584x50C tyres. On one hand to reduce the circumference slightly as it was a bit tight in the frame before and on the other hand because now the v-brakes have a better lever, increasing the breaking power and I got rid of an annoying squealing. The sensah group set works just fine. Sometimes I have to readjust the cable tension because of a missing interlock, but that's all. Overall, a really fun build! All the best!

@@FloyVeloy Probably a good choice, I was thinking of trying out 700C but you are right - the V-Brakes would almost be at their maximum and having any bigger tires would max out the frame really quickly. So I probably won't go for it.. I also run Panaracer 650bx48 on my purple-orange Cadex and could not be happier with that choice Do you have other social media by chance for a little chat? (only if you want to!)

@@FloyVeloy Which 27.5 rims with rimbrake surface did you use? There is not a lot to choose from I guess.

@@todesfertig Hi, I used Ryde ZAC 421 rims. I think they are quite good and not super pricey. But you are right, there are only a handful of other options available.

How were the breaking power since you are using road levers?

what handlebar width are you using? and what width do u find suitable for such conversion? I've converted one using 46cm Salsa Cowchipper, and find it alright and wide enough for rocky terrains, but not so sure how much wider the handlebars i need for wider tyres, given we are talking about 26 inch wheels here, they often go up to 2.3" at most, depending on frames, so i suppose the 52cm version would cater towards 27.5 or 29 wheels drop bar monstercross, or do you think it's entirely personal preference given it gives enough steering and control?

The handle bar has a width of 460 to 580 mm depending on the hand position. It's the biggest size of that handle bar model. Now I use 27.5 wheels with 50 mm tyres. I feel comfortable but I do not often ride rocky terrain, mainly gravel and bad tarmac, cobblestone. The flared drops give great additional control, but after all I guess it's very much personal preference indeed.

As many other parts, they come from AliExpress. Muqzi is the brand and it's a extra long version, I think originally for folding bikes
