I like when professionals do this, when they recommend what they know will work for you whether it's hair, clothing, shoes, glasses etc. Because sometimes we think we know what we want, but we're not professionals in the field and we don't know any better. I'm glad he didn't give the kid the undercut he wanted and instead gave him this brilliant, well constructed haircut that looks great on him

In 20 years kids will watch some of those videos and be like " why is everyone wearing face masks?"

This is why guys like Dan should be applauded, instead of going for the easy option of an undercut(which i had back in the 90's) like he said his mates could of done that for him. He wanted him to get not only the right style but also value for his money I'm sure. It looks great

I love how you give your opinion on what he should do... but you do it in a way that it gives him the chance to come back and speak with you so you two can reach a place where you know exactly what he wants, but you can use your expertise to make sure it's still a nice, relevant style. A lot of barbers either listen to what you say and don't really give their opinion, so they might not have a full understanding of what their client wants and it can end up not being such a great haircut sometimes.

As someone that went to (mainly female-oriented) cosmetology uni, the methods and techniques I learn from videos like these endlessly keep blowing my mind! The "slicing" and razoring methods this barber used, I have never seen before (point cutting yes, but not for slicing!) and as someone that likes/has short hair themselves, it helps SO MUCH! Especially now during the pandemic when getting hair appointments is either difficult or impossible. My uni was/is a very small town run business, so I didn't really get an overly broad spectrum of training, as far as techniques and "shortcuts" are concerned. We got lots of older clients due to the trainee discount, so that meant a lot of traditional mens' cuts, roller sets, the occasional fingerwave/pincurl, and PLENTY of perm curl & style! I love blending my hair short into long like in this video, and now I know that when I need a trim/touch-up, I don't have to abuse the hell out of my texturizing shears to get the desired results! Thank you so much for providing these kinds of videos for us newbies to keep educating ourselves with!
