Alec’s point about simplicity is so true. There is a lot of value in the choices you make when carving or painting etc. we are naturally drawn to clean, simple, less cognitive load but good form. The challenge is conveying your message with as little clutter as possible.

Doug, I think Gene will love what you sent him. It is a direct reflection of his influence on your carving talent.

I'm a new carver, I made the Christmas tree this week. I turned out really good

Nicking yourself with a Harley knife is no joke. I was wearing my glove and it poked right through. It was for the same reason - a 2" blade and aim used to 1 1/2 to 1 3/4.

Long wait and you'll later then normal. Tiny cuts can really sting.I a old beginner but cut myself as a bare foot child whittling with Grandpa Jude knife . I was bragging on this video and on you both. And a young man that interested in getting started, I gave him both your names and this coffee chat show. And ask him to give me a call in a few months by then. I'll have a couple of homemade carving knives to help him start out. Also saw Ryan on the video doing cute girls great video.
