Mark is finally getting the love, respect, recognition and accolades he's always deserved. Mark's schedule is getting busier and Don's is dwindling. Don and Mel aren't worthy enough to untie Mark Farner's shoes. I wish you long life, happiness and God's continued favor Mark💗💗💗💗💗💗
I got to see him perform live a few years ago for free! On a whim, caught an announcement less than 2 hours before the show started. Called my mom, hopped across the river into IL and caught the last 6 songs or so. So great that I got to see and hear him in action. Only caught part of the show, but that was definitely one of the coolest music highlights in my life as a 35 yr old classic rock guitarist and enthusiast.
On the way back from Vietnam, Navy. On our on board ships " radio station " I'm Your Captain " . And you could just about hear everyone singing " I'm getting closer to my home ". I wasn't even 19 years old yet. Went in at 17. Thanks Mark !
Dan Johnson If you were burning black oil we might have refueled you. Even if you weren't using oil I'm guessing we sent you over AV-Gas. Kansas City, 73 Wespac here also.
I was 16 driving home from the ohio state fair, closer to home playing on a 8 track cassette, 1964 cutlass convertible, that song has been playing in my head ever since, shook Mark's hand in lawrenceburg INDIANA, life is good.
Thanks Mark!! You’re the captain! I met you when you first started out in Oklahoma City. Front and center! You gave me a pick after playing inside looking out and the tip had been worn off! Never missed one of your concerts! They have these young people doing reactions to older songs. They completely freaked out! They had to stop the video when you pulled the harmonica out after already playing so long! They all love you!
I interviewed Mark in Austin, Texas in 1987 when he was going through his bullshit with Mel and Don and it was a sore spot with him. Yeppers, Mark IS Grand Funk. Without Mark, there is no Grand Funk Railroad. He's a good man and great musician.
I live on Long Island, NY. I called the local rock station and asked them to play Peter Frampton's 'Lines On My Face'. The guy who answered told me, "I'll be honest with you. We're not going to play that song. It's not on our list." And THAT is the problem with the way radio stations operate today.
One of the absolute finest rockers this world has ever produced. Great guitar playing and vocals. A genuine musicians. Thanks for all you've ever created Mark Farner.
GENIUS SONGWRITER,GENIUS GUITARIST,GENIUS VOCALIST,AMAZING ROCKER,YOUR FANS LOVE YOU,AND YOU HAVE ENTERTAINED US FOR YEARS,LIKE NO OTHER,GOD BLESS YOU MARK,THANKS
I love Mark Farner so much. I remember the night he was on Coast To Coast AM and I had the number on speed dial. The Art (Bell) announced that Mark wasn't going to be taking calls that night and I literally cried myself to sleep. Next to George Harrison, Mark Farner is the reason I play guitar.
A hero of my adolescence. WORE OUT the "Grand Funk Live" album in 1970-71. Got to meet him backstage in 2000. What a humble, awesome guy and icon of my age.
The fact that he was an athlete, played football and ran track explains why he was one of the few rockers in the late 60's early 70's that looked in good physical shape. Most of the others were skinny as skeletons which most people attribute to a lot of drug use. Coke and herion does that. Though I'm sure Mark did his share of partying back in the day, he obviously didn't get too caught up in it and kept himself fit. Even at his age now he looks pretty fit still.
An honest interview with genuine enthusiasm by the dj interviewer (sorry missed your name). Well done. Grand Funk should be in the Hall of Fame. Mark, you're an inspiration. God bless you & you're family.
Mark Farner, stand up guy and even its been tough and you been rippied off, looks lkie it came back around for ya. and I glad for you, play on as long as you can and want to. Love the fact that you still believe in the Lord after all you have experienced.
I saw Mark years ago at a small club in Pottstown, Pa and he played it like Madison Square Garden. He also played some of his religious music (this was around 1989) that was cool. He was not preaching at all but playing rock tunes with a christian influence--not many but they were totally fine (I also have seen shows in the 1990's where he played less religious material but either way his shows were great). And after the Pottstown show he signed whatever we wanted with no complaints at all. All in all a really great guy.
hello don and pos mel mark look at this last line ( AFTER THE POTTSTOWEN SHOW HE SIGNED WHAT EVER ( WE WANTED ) WITH NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL ) F##K YOU GUYS GO STRATE TO HELL FRANK
I listen to all different kinds of music and when am in the mood for classic rock Grand Funk Railroad is the first to mind. Something very special about this group that stands out for me. After watching this video of Mark talking now I know why. ✌
I'm from Michigan. I agree... Mark *IS* GFR! I saw him a few summers ago at Royal Oak's "Arts, Beats and Eats. He was amazing. Love you Mark! Thanks for all the great music 🎸🎶❤
Mark, you are the real deal. God bless you. You know what is real. Someday we will all get there. It is a family of man. We are all on the path. The only difference is those who know they are on the path and those who don't. Your songs told me you were there before you realized it.
Don and Mel are back stabbers period. Mark is Grand Funk Railroad like Jim Morrison is the Doors. It's a crying same his own two friends would do that to him.
mark your original four are all over the internet grabbing a whole new audience please push for a reunion the past is the past its time brother and yes i loved your show at pima county fairgrounds in tucson brought out a couple of tears to see you and hear the band.we love you, thanks for your time.
Always love hearing Mark’s stories. I’m a Farner Fan Girl Forever❤️ It’s so sweet that he continued to say the childhood prayer his mother taught him. My mother taught it to us too and we said it every night❤️
Don can’t handle that Mark has so much talent. Don feels like the main focus of GFR now without Mark but Mark is the REAL heart and soul of Grand Funk Railroad and always will be❤️❤️🎶❤️❤️🎶❤️❤️🎶
The man, other than my own father, who influenced my life most. I can only love the man I have never met!! God bless Mark and his family always. A true American.
I grew -up in FLINT , Mi. Grand Funk Railroad I learned guitar by playing to The " RED " GFR album , my favorite album . The song "inside looking out " is great heavy rock . My next favorite , Closer to home is BRILLIANT ! Mark is how I remember most Michigan folks behave when I was growing up . He is honest and truthful . About the fans not the money . He loves God and is a true HUMAN BEING . Love you Mark .
Mark, your a man of greatness, Always seen that in you, even before I knew your were into God. Just something about you in the early years separated you from the rest, in a good way. My niece meet you but I seen your concerts 5 times or more and never had that chance to meet, just never got a chance to say the good things I'd like to have, maybe one day.
Huge fan of Mark Farner as a singer, songwriter, musician and a gentle soul. Still listening to the early GFR albums, and loving the music they created together. P.S. He's right about the Telecommunications Act of '96. I was in radio at the time, and the veteran radio people told me: "Enjoy your years here, young man...this is all going away". Sadly, he was right.
I am a die hard Grand Funk fan but would not want to go see Grand Funk without Mark Farner. That to me is like going to see Creedence Clearwater Revival without John Fogerty.
Mark is a great guy. Met him a few years ago before one of his gigs in Va Beach. That being said.....it was Mark's decision to leave the GFR reunion tour and go back to his solo career. Things got ugly after that when Don and Mel wanted to continue and decided to do what they needed to do to kick Mark to the curb. Is it right?....NOPE....Is Don an asshole?...YEP. Mark has gotten though it all with a great attitude and a positive outlook....while delivering a quality product. He has taken the high road for the most part. I would not even give Brewer the satisfaction of mentioning his name in any interview. Best wishes to you Mark going forward!!!
That's the most unbiased account of it, I'm sure don was just wanting some control and waiting to bait Mark while he was drunk and buddied up buttered up to him to make the power play. He saw it more of a business than something that if you just do then it pays for itself, he ended up cutting marks balls off and will forever be known as Judas of the group and tarnish his reputation as a drummer, and black marks and asterisk beside his credits
Hi Greeting from a small red dot island from the south east Asia, 1 degree above the equator. In around 1971, CFR latest release then was E Plurious funk, the same time deep purple in rock, fireball, Jeff beck group the orange album, humble pie smokin, ccr green river, pendulum,, beggar opera water of change, cuby blizzard simple man. Christie yellow river, Simon & Art bridge over water. Those were the some of the LPs EPs we villagers at kampung Batah Singapore listen to. Today people let’s stop the world and survival still among my favorite albums.
Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad. Then comes the toilet paper aka don brewer the sewer & mel jell-o boy. They know who's the master & they're sick with envy. Mark, you don't need them nor we neither.
a truly good sincere man. In his prime (with the original GFR power trio). Mark Farner was a penultimate rock god, a powerful force of nature. 50 years later, their work of that early era and the band and music are STILL my favorite. Its really tragic that Donnie and Mel have evolved into who they are now. Those two fucked up.
Here we go again, Mark Farner is the most likeable Soul in rock n roll. The brother is on par with his late friend Jimi, Stones, Beatles, Pretty Things, Allman brothers, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, Doors, ✌️💕💋🎸🎸 t
I saw the so Called Grand Funk twice. Good but the same. I saw Mark Farner yesterday in Milwaukee. Way better. If you have a choice, See Mark. Still wish they could they could put it together again while they're breathing.
Mark farner: the greatest rock song writer and musician America will ever see. In the Lords way , I'm glad mark got hurt playing football for the greatest music in history would never have been heard. John3:16. Revelation 21:4. S.m.lockridge.
