Excellent Video Jerome! Most other's don't mention disconnecting the battery, I'd hate to have a spark from a loose wire happen while that pump is out! AND you remembered to tell us to reconnect the battery. Nice. What other videos do you have I wonder...

Why anyone would drop a tank is beyond me. Unless for some reason you just could not remove the bed but seriously this is the only way to do it. So much easier, thanks for the good hints.

Some are snap ring while others a lock ring that turns by hammering on it. Thanks I took the bed off and was able to clean up some other parts.

Great video ! Going to do mine this fall! The only thing I am going to do is use a blow dryer to heat the tubing! No open flames around that gas tank for me !
@barbiesawada245
@barbiesawada245 3 года назад
Wouldn't advise using a hair dryer, the coil inside might spark the gas fumes.

Cut a hole in the bed, 1000 times easier. I can get the measurements from my truck if you want. I cut a nice square hole on my bed. Then screwed the piece back in place.

Thank for making this video. I have to do this today. Hope it goes well. Couple comments... bleed fuel pressure first. Blow crud from top to keep it from falling into tank. A new fuel pump was only $20 something dollars from eBay.

I would strongly recommend not using a lighter on the heatshrink, in this case I would say to use a soldering iron, a flameless source of heat. Other than that this was very informative.

Thank you sir for all the help... It really helped a lot! Unfortunately I'm still having problems after I installed the new pump. For some reason I have no power to the pump...... I cant hear the pump go on when I turn the key as I usually did. I'm currently diagnosing the problem.... Any way question for you sir... If you pause the video at 7:37 you will see the entire view of the rear of the truck.... What is that rectangular looking (small tank looking) part to the right of the main tank? ( where your pliers are sitting and a white paper).... I have the same thing however I want to replace all I can while I have the bed off. What is that part called?

Is this the same as a 4.3 I have 96 v6 s10 the shop is telling me a thousand dollars and said they have to drop the tank and replace lines possibly. So screwed I work on vehicles often my truck won’t start it has spark is just won’t get gas
