Wow thank you for this! Probably my favorite of your videos, as hard as it would be to choose. The Wizard of O.Z.! I like the dual 960 transposition especially. Can’t wait to try these techniques out!

Modular looks like incredible fun to me but I'm not sure I'd have the patience for all the prep work involved, when I'm so used to my modern DAWs and synths.. It's kind of like the difference between taking a long ride in an old Model T vs zooming there in a Tesla. I'm sure it has it's benefits to spend more time appreciating the journey and "smelling the roses" vs being more concerned with the destination.

@AdamsOlympia Model T/Tesla is a great analogy. IMHO, the biggest "pro" for the modular world is the hands on experience. Real knobs, real sliders, real patch cords. Doing the patching is as much a privilege as a burden. The ARP 2600 is a great middle ground between all patch cords and no patch cords. The second biggest "pro" for the modular world is the flexibility. The biggest "con" is the lack of presets. A synth like the Arturia MatrixBrute is a great compromise between these flexibility and presets.

Terrific musical applications for the 960 OZ. Really appreciate these comprehensive tutorials. Only problem now is to get a second 960! I guess I could tie in my 1027 for some of these ideas. It also goes without saying that we would all like to see you do more of these kind of vids. Cheers

Thanks Tony! Yes, 1027 would work for much of the functionality. Also the 1050 mix sequencer would substitute for the step skip/normal functionality.

The 55 Oscillators take about 15 minutes of warm up to stabilize for proper tuning.

Yeah, I has to warm up. At least the newer Moog vco designs ( later 1970s ) are more stable than the originals.

Is it possible to patch a “rest” into a 960 sequencer? How could I get a sequence with a rest in it? Thanks!
@ozhalljr
@ozhalljr 3 месяца назад
That’s a great question. There is no “rest” button/function per se. I’ll add that to my list for the next video. Thanks.
