absolutely unhinged kino. the entire shot of Pinokio running through the city and also scenes in the subway were from what i've gathered were entirely unlicensed, which makes the reaction of the passersby all the more iconic.
This confused the hell out of me first watch, but viewing again over a decade later and reading more about the plot helped me appreciate it more. I wouldn't have understood wtf happened without reading some explanations though. I preferred the film Rubber's Lover imo. It's by the same director and was made after Pinocchio with a similar style and themes, but a more coherent and engaging plot that is as twisted as you would expect. I'd recommend it over Pinocchio for sure. Tetsuo is a must watch though, it's considered such a classic for good reason.
