Cutting an access panel in the bed is the very easiest way to change the assembly. They do make a pump and inner basket kit that’s so much cheaper than an entire assembly. Thanks for sharing 😊

UPDATE: The bolts holding my bed on my 99 Dakota were rusted tight. Even after sitting in PB Blaster overnight & hitting them with heat the head on the first one snapped off. My truck has a bedliner. Took linner out, cut hole, changed pump, used some scrap & self tapping screws to put the piece I cut out back in sealed with alum duct tape, put bedliner back in. Less than 30 minutes.

I did this to my 97 Grand. ( IN THE RUST BELT ) N.E. PA. It TWAS NOT AS EASY AS YOUR'S but I cleaned the whole damn tank out also. There was some water in it & more junk than I would of thought, good thing I did. Had problems with fill hose, connectors & every freakin thing else DUE TOO WHERE I LIVE. Had to buy new tank straps also, they didn't look that bad but WTH WHILE I'M THERE. GREAT VID. AS ALWAYS MARTIN & GREAT JACK TIPS. I have a similar Jack set up & always say I'm going to buy a Trans Jack but I never do. THANKS FOR THE KNOWLEDGE.

Great tip on 1/2"x 13 threaded saddle for a riser, rather than stacked 2x4's. Never fails nice full tank of gas when pump decides to go. Ps never seen tank straps come off that easy, I've gotten pretty good taking beds off without breaking any bolts usually brake lines need replacing while I'm at it. Very good camera work too

One thing I learned at my new job, for seals and tight fitting parts, get a tub of transmission grease...it dissolves...we use that for everything at the shop. It's also good for hard to get to bolts for installing and removing...put a little bit of the grease in your socket and fit it over the bolt and done. Transmission grease dissolves in just about anything so it's easy to clean off

I jacked it down poured into cans. when tank was empty I put a drain like you use on trany, down low to the front for next time. Going back together I forgot gasket, been six years never had a leak or smell. I see my 2001 durango has skid plate under tank.

This is one I will thankfully never have to do for a fuel pump lol I cut a hole right over the pump. In a truck bed, just cut a piece of sheet metal about an inch bigger than the hole and you can use sheet metal brakes to bend the metal to match the contour of the metal you removed. You can screw it in, weld it in...whatever....and it looks like it was made that way...I don't drop tanks very much lol

Hi Martin. I'm having a hell of a time finding the correct connections for the ground straps on the right side of my 2000 dakota 4.7. Any chance you can make a short video or brief description of where they go?? Thanks

I don't know if you'd know this, but by chance what size are the front fuel lines for that dakota? Looks like a 2001 like mine, having a hard time finding the lines for it and am wondering if there are any universals I can build and use

What’s the plan for the Dakota? And any more plans for the WJ or just trying to keep it a reliable daily driver?

I'm planning on changing the front and rear axle to 3.92 gears with a Posi in the gears. I have purchased the axle. I also want to actually convert it to a full time 4WD. WJ will always have projects going on with it. I am building a performance engine for the WJ.

My 92 Dodge Dakota 3.9 keeps dying as if it’s running out of gas. I put a new fuel pump in it sometimes it’ll start and run for a little while maybe 15-20 minutes then it dies. it looks like the seals where the hose goes into the tank for filling it are cracked really bad is that my problem. Please help I’m out of money and I need the structure run badly.
