All right, I had full intentions of doing an in-depth "how-to" video but the further that I got into the project, the more I realized that this might not be a simple "at-home" project. It is totally doable at home, but you need to have more than a beginner level knowledge of mechanics or for sure have a second set of hands to complete this project SAFELY.
With that in mind, I did not feel that I needed to do a step-by-step video. I thought that people would benefit more from a video showing what all is involved and an overview of the process. Maybe the next time I do leaf springs I will do a step-by-step. (which I need to do on my XJ). Please ask as many questions as you would like in the comments and I will do my best to answer them.

We all appreciate you showing us your process and steps in doing this leaf spring swap! I have a 5.7 L 1994 GMC extended cab step side 4x4 I'm slowly replacing everything on. I think it's freaking awesome you mentioned you got yours from General springs from KC. I actually live 45 minutes from them! I plan on heading there to pick them up in my sedan this morning lol. I also want to make a point to thank you for taking the time to make a point about how essential it is we understand how to properly support the vehicle while doing this job, that's something I didn't initially consider.

My factory are 3 plus 1, I bought 4 plus 1, they had the same measurements. Hope they work, wanted a little more load. You answered my question. Great video.

I recommend a sawzaw instead of a grinder That way you can cut next to the bushings with a long blade way faster

Guess I never thought of that. Thanks.

I would of placed the jack stands on the frame in from of the rear axle, then a hydraulic floor jack for the rear differential. allowing you to lower it when needed.

Do the body work well, paint the whole car dark brown. That way when rust spots come through the truck is already brown. Trying to fix rust spots and touch up areas is like whack a mole... better to paint the whole truck one time brown and forget about it... Great trucks for sure.. prefer 96, 97, 98 for diagnostic connection.. Wires, starter, alternator, water, fuel pump, etc... spend some money guys.. don't drive these old trucks and have them breaking down over a 10 dollar thermostat.. treat all rubber so they don't dry out and Crack.

what was the diffrence , 3=1 to the 4=1 in payload ability , is the 1500 know equal to a half ton or 3/4 ton?
@flatlandjeeper5724
@flatlandjeeper5724 Год назад
Essentially that is correct from what I was told by the manufacturer. I basically just adds another leaf into the pack and adds more weight capacity. You are still limited by the frame, body, driveline limitations. I used the truck for a lot of hauling and towing and wanted to eliminate any squat.

On the driver side leaf spring, do you have enough clearance to remove and install the bolt on the front eye (the one next to the gas tank). I’m looking to do my single cab step side, and it looks extremely close. Didn’t know if you had an issue with your bolt coming out, thanks again

I don’t remember there being enough room. It was seized so I had to cut it out anyways.

@@flatlandjeeper5724 so when you installed the new bolt, did you have any issues installing it? Just wondering. Thank you for the first reply

I don’t remember for sure. I think i actually did the work several years ago. If anything I switched the direction the bolt went through and just tightened it down.

@@flatlandjeeper5724 that’s a good idea, just flipping the bolt around to fit in there easier. Thank you very much.

I'm going to install a 7+1 on my half ton flat bed and plan on it raising the ride height a bit. I'm also going to do a leveling kit on the front to get the ride height level. I'm most curious about how much lift the springs will give me. It'll be a stiffer ride but hey at least it'll look good and more payload. Good video

Lift springs are not very hard to intall in a ford ranger 2000.not a big deal.

Agreed, they are not very difficult but if you have never done it before, it can be dangerous if you are not careful.

You did a lot of talking but no video of you doing the work. The only thing I got out of the video is a place to buy springs. Thumbs down.

UUUMMMM.... UUUMMM... UUUMMM... And also, it's “pound-foot” (lb-ft)", NOT "Foot Pound" please use the correct terminology.

Buddy, “foot pound” and “pound foot” are exactly the same. Torque is defined as the dot product between a force and a distance. This multiplication is commutative, meaning it can be done in whatever order you please. Please learn what you’re talking about before you “correct” others.
