In the fifth episode of Remembering Canada's Veterans (a video documentary series) where Zach Dunn travels all around Canada interviewing the last surviving veterans of the Second World War (WW2) and their family members.
On February 26th 2022, Zach interviewed Mr. Jim Parks in Mount Albert, Ontario, Canada. Who is a 97 Year Old World War 2 (WW2) Veteran.
He shares his experiences growing up in Winnipeg, surviving the Normany and Juno Beach landings on D-Day, fighting the SS Army and coming home to Canada.

In this video, we sit down with a Canadian World War II veteran who shares his incredible story of surviving the infamous D-Day invasion. As a young soldier, he bravely fought alongside his fellow comrades on the beaches of Normandy, facing unimaginable challenges and danger at every turn.
Throughout the interview, he offers a unique perspective on the realities of war, detailing both the physical and emotional toll that it takes on those who serve. Despite the hardships he faced, he speaks with pride about the sacrifices made by himself and his fellow soldiers, highlighting the deep sense of camaraderie that existed between them.
This is a powerful and moving interview that offers a rare glimpse into the experiences of those who fought in World War II. Through the eyes of this veteran, we gain a new appreciation for the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who served their country during this difficult time.

Absolutely! Jim Parks is 100 years old in September this year! 19 during D-Day. Truly a part of the greatest generation!

My Dad was Royal Regina Rifles landed Dday +1 all the way through France, Belgium, Holland & northern Germany. RIP Dad

Wow! Thank you so much for your Dad’s service! So many young Canadians died and served during D-Day. I’ve been very lucky to meet with 2 Veteran who were there on D-Day and 4 individuals on the days that followed. What’s was your fathers name? I would have loved to interview him. Thank you again for sharing!

Thank you for all of the amazing interviews. ❤ And of course, special thanks to all of the veterans for their service. ❤🫶🏼 I’m a Chinese Canadian and I came to Canada 9 years ago, I love Canada and it’s such a peaceful country. 🍁It makes me kinda sad that I was never taught about how the WWll veterans defended my hometown Hong Kong in 1941 December. They put their lives on the line not only protecting their own countries, they were doing their very best to protect the other countries too. Thank you very much. ❤

My dad was with Regina rifles which fought not far from Winnipeg rifles on juno beach. Both divisions lost half their men. What role models they are.

Your doing a good thing here bro, we probably right around the same age and ive always had interest in ww2 and the canadian troops. Keep doing these before its too late! Appreciate you putting out this content.
