Like and Subscribe In this video we remove the 98 YZ400F carburetor and replace it with a 2006 YZ450F carburator. I will continue to tune the carb and a update will follow once and if the bike runs properly.
Good work. I did the same thing to me 99 Yamaha and it completely changed the game. Then I did the Hotcams with the auto decompression action and the bike is KILLER now. Newer Carb is key 👌
Thanks for the comment, I didn't know there was a hotcams auto decompression kit. I'll look into that. After riding it for alittle, I don't think the bike has as much power but for trails that's not an issue. I haven't done any tuning yet. It was nice to have it start 3 kicks after winter storage that's a first since owning the bike.
I just ordered this carb and found your video after trying to figure out the throttle cable problem. Also to note that the throttle pulls in the opposite direction of the OEM carb so I had to reverse the cables. My main question though was if the 06 throttle cable fixed your problem? If so I will order one. Thanks for the video!
Hello, Thanks for watching the video. I didn't end up changing the cable, for me using one cable out of the original 2 I havent had a single issue with the cable setup.I would make sure the carb throttle cam fully returns to the stop and that it fully cycles the cam at full trottle and spring returns nice like mine. All I've done with the carb is made it more rich to smooth out decel back fire and decrease heat.
Yeah thanks, I've lowered the needle 2 notches. I also have the fuel mixture set to 2 1/2 turns. The decel pop isn't nearly as bad. I need to rejet the pilot still.
