Also have a 98zj, only the 5.2, acquired at 8k miles, and at 252k just replaced trans with a remanufactured one, 44re, 2 inch pucks so could run the 31s, replaced the 3:55 geared axles with a pair of 3:73,, love it, wheel it, and when traveling pulls an honest 19mpg on the interstate
New subscriber, found you on the group. Watched every minute of it. I’m building a zj myself, I’m going to use some of your ideas. You’re a smart man. And you thought of things I probably never would have
Definitely not a low center of travel build. You apparently dont understand the meaning of that. Its the complete opposite. That is one hideous 5.9, those fenders, tires, wheels, absolutely hideous. Poor jeep.
As you can tell, I'm not a pro videographer. I'll try to get more videos of the stuff that was too dark. If you saw something that I didn't talk about, let me know and I'll work on that. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
hi sr I have a zj 5.9 I'm planning to body paint it's a nice project cause it has raptor bed liner all over that I want to remove for nice paint like yours
Great video and very good attention to detail, excellent job on the zj, really enjoyed the content, I have a 97 zj with the 5.2, you've motivated and give me hope. thank ya very much
I like how you set up your winch. Great idea that seems to work for you. Very nice looking rig. I bet it is great off road. That 360 has excellent low end grunt. I had a 360 in a Dodge truck. What a great performer it was.
Clean and well cared for with many mods but intelligently done not too wild. A near perfect upgraded 98 with all the right touches. I would appreciate knowing more details on the fender flares and the front bumper support mods to keep the front bumper stock looking but supported to incorporate your d rings recovery points and winch
Ive had a 5.9 ZJ f or like 14 years now.. i love it.. but i think the transmission might be going.. it isnt slipping never has but man it whines bad in 1-3rd gear.. when it shifts to OD it goes away... but if i wiggle the transfercase lever the noise changes.. so im not 100% sure its the trans just yet... has 220k miles, i do all the regular fluid/oil changes, working on cars for 17 years now... I kinda neglected the ZJ though, as i have a 89 grand wagoneer that took all my money and time with restoring and then lifting and so forth.. Unfortunatly i hit a deer at 65mph 7 months back.. didnt do too much dmg though besides push in the metal cross member bumper, break the bumper cover into 30 peice.. and yes sadly my niner grill.. still havent found a decently priced silver 5.9 grill.. oh well.. not too concerned about it, too many hobbies and a 300$ grill isnt on my list.. so i went to a regular zj grill for now Dont take offense to this, just my thoughts but those fender flares look a little goofy the shape isnt very appealing to me anyway. Your paint job doesnt match from the front to back half wheel well and quarter panel.... its way off looks goofy... You sure it doesnt burn oil? unless its already had the plenum fixed whats with the trail rated and pin striping ? lol
Nice set up man. gonna take some ideas for my zj lol.. love how clean and everything is neat yet custom.. i love the knuckle pod lights, great idea. Any issues with wiring and clearance issues doing the knuckle lights?
Where did you get the tray that holds the Bad lands winch? Those Harbor Freight Winches are excellent. I'm in Utah and many professional recovery businesses use them.
