In this short video I explained some of the reasoning behind the terminology "cessation of perception and feeling" which is used for the 9th and highest absorption, synonymous with Nirvana.
When you attain Enlightenment through this specific means of traversing all 8 jhanas, you emerge as a Non-Returner or Arahant.

Nirodha-Samapatti is like attaining Nirvana/Nibbana (stopping the mind) before the death of the mind.

Bro you're a spiritual narcissist. Learn to love a specific person, for who they are, and get over yourself and your need for attention, perfection, and status.

Good explanation but… the Buddha says that contact with nibbana property or element occurs after emergence from nirodha-samāpatti, not in that cessation. The first contact on emergence is with emptiness, the signless, the undirected: “But when a monk is emerging from the cessation of perception & feeling, which things arise first: bodily fabrications, verbal fabrications, or mental fabrications?” “When a monk is emerging from the cessation of perception & feeling, friend Visākha, mental fabrications arise first, then bodily fabrications, then verbal fabrications.” “When a monk has emerged from the cessation of perception & feeling, lady, how many contacts make contact?” “When a monk has emerged from the cessation of perception & feeling, friend Visākha, three contacts make contact: contact with emptiness, contact with the signless, & contact with the undirected.” www.dhammatalks.org/suttas/MN/MN44.html Logically this would make sense as elsewhere the Buddha says that awakening can occur based on the first Jhana only where the mind relinquishes the three kinds of fabrication and makes contact with the nibbana property based on that dispassion. Another point of interest is that the Buddha describes a type consciousness apart from the All of the five khandas. He calls it “consciousness without surface”: “Just as if there were a roofed house or a roofed hall having windows on the north, the south, or the east. When the sun rises, and a ray has entered by way of the window, where does it land?” “On the western wall, lord.” “And if there is no western wall, where does it land?” “On the ground, lord.” “And if there is no ground, where does it land?” “On the water, lord.” “And if there is no water, where does it land?” “It does not land, lord.” “In the same way, where there is no passion for the nutriment of physical food… contact… intellectual intention… consciousness, where there is no delight, no craving, then consciousness does not land there or increase. Where consciousness does not land or increase, there is no alighting of name-&-form. Where there is no alighting of name-&-form, there is no growth of fabrications. Where there is no growth of fabrications, there is no production of renewed becoming in the future. Where there is no production of renewed becoming in the future, there is no future birth, aging, & death. That, I tell you, has no sorrow, affliction, or despair.” www.dhammatalks.org/suttas/SN/SN12_64.html The contact with the nibbana element is a type of consciousness apart from fabrication ie it is unfrabricated which is another description of nibbana.

Right, all good points. I've encountered those 2 sutras as well and I'm fond of the analogy about "the consciousness that doesn't land", which means consciousness disjointed or unbound from Namarupa (i.e. beyond perception, feeling, sankhara), which we can also phrase as the cessation of perception & feeling, as i mentioned. So I guess the only point to address is the idea of realization occurring after entering Nibbana. I agree with that, in the sense that when you are in Nibbana nothing is known or cognized; one only intellectually realizes "Released" (i.e. that enlightenment has been gained) when consciousness returns in some degree, when the 3 fabrications reemerge - under which category the 3 contacts are classified, as your sutra implies. That's why in other sutras that mention the state of cessation of perception and feeling, Buddha always follows it up by saying "when the monk has seen with discernment (paññā), his effluents (āsava) are ended", potentially implying a realization after the fact. In other words, you're right it is a good idea to distinguish between Nibbana as an experience (the state of Nirodha-samapatti) and the cognition that it has been attained, which cannot occur during the experience itself but rather after the fact. This is making contact with emptiness, the signless, the undirected, i.e. your consciousness is now imbued with that quality, devoid of the illusions of self & other. Alternatively these are three different “insight doors” or ways of entering liberation; whether or not the liberating insight was characterized by contemplation of not-self, impermanence, or dukkha. To call them contacts may be implying that the first thing Consciousness contacts upon exiting are the three kinds of insights that lead it into Nibbana. It is possible that attainment of cessation does not require one of these 3 insights, simply non-fashioning, so they do not occur until after
