Hey guys, just letting you know I'm gonna be testing a bunch of new techniques in my future videos. They're gonna have random vocal edits for no real reason other than just to be different, and I'm gonna have an unnecessary amount of people making guest appearances in my videos because why not. Should make for some good experimentation.
Jackson Shoe I think blackyspeaks is GOAT with the stuff he talks about. But it's different than cdtv. Cdtv is good at what he does and so on and so fourth
Reviews: TESTING 5/25, 2018 by A$AP Rocky. IMO by far the best piece of artwork by Rocky. You can clearly hear the influence of him being around Tyler, Carti and Ocean but also he keeps his style and originality here in some of the tracks. I have been a fan ever since Bass, Palace, Purple Swag and Wassup and I can say artistically this is his best piece of work/sonically this is up to par with a project like Yeezus too. Only thing it missed was the hit factor/rawness we got from him in the past. Examples: Wild for The Night, F**kin’ problems or even a straight up bar for bar rap song like 1Train. I believe that if Kanye, Ferg, Tyler and maybe someone more mainstream was featured in this album and made a party banger or a song for the masses that haven’t heard Rocky before no one would be critiquing this. I thoroughly enjoyed this and after easily 3 listens I can say without a doubt that he has matured and made music that represents him, shit he wants to make. As the Album says anyway he is TESTING new sounds and experimenting, biggest downside of this project was the amount of hype and expectations but it’s still a slight 8 for me.
Album was great. Changes being my favourite followed closely by Hun43rd French Montana's singing on "Brotha Man" really annoyed me he should've got an actual singer for that part. I understand about the hit factor song but the album's experimental I feel a track like that would break the flow of the album completely.
Everyone keeps going in expecting some sorta non stop banger album. There are some bangers on here but there are also some songs you can vibe to and just chill out with. I don’t think there’s a bad song on the album. But I like Rocky’s voice, I say solid 8/10 to a light 9/10🔥🔥🔥
Nah when alla first came out people were hating on it too. Eventually it grew on them and now everyone basically likes it. That’s probably how Testing will be too.
It's really nice to see this kind of a reaction, nowdays everyone just listens to the album and go hyper. No one really gives their honest opinion and break down parts of certain tracks. I'm a huge rocky fan I really like this project, but also respect your honest opinion on this. Great reaction keep doing what you doing man I wish you all the best in the future!
And now, a strongly worded letter on the whole NY thang. Hip-hop began in the Bronx in 1973, and up until the mid-1980s, New York was virtually all of hip-hop. This dominance began to fall from totality when Ice-T, Too $hort, and NWA began rapping (as well as other regions, but Cali was the main competition) and was rendered a thing of the past in the G Funk era. The Wu Tang Clan led the resurgence of New York rap (followed by Nas, Biggie, Mobb Deep, etc), which lends credence to your claim of Wu Tang bringing in New York, for they are indeed naught to fornicate upon. Fast forward through the jiggy/bling era to 2011. NY hasn't been hot seen Dipset/Fiddy. A$AP Rocky becomes the first big face (followed by FBZ, Joey, Underachievers, etc). TLDR: you're both kind of right Great vid! 2007 was biracial
I think the what rocky means when he says he put new york on the map is that he not only brought a new style of fashion rap and hip hop to new york and worldwide but he also brought a new fashion sense from his new york heritage to the outside world with new thinking
He is! Though Rakim revolutionized rap, New York was already well-established, and he had two albums out by the time Straight Outta Compton dropped, so he wasn't really cementing New York any more than most of the other MCs at the time. On the other hand, Wu Tang debuted when the West Coast was in its peak (The Chronic dropped the previous year, Doggystyle dropped within two weeks, 2pac, DJ Quik, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, and Ice T were all active...)
Michael Sam the big gay Yeah Fr I like the way Rocky definitely matched the ‘testing’ theme this album is meant to have, but it’s just like an experiment that really didn’t work very well. Hopefully when he brings out his next album in the next few years it’ll be better and in par with his old albums
I’m a Rocky fan but it got over hyped. I feel like him telling us that it was a test was him telling us to just ingest it and not to get hyped before we hear it. The album was solid, not as great as his others but it was good. At least he knows now that he has to either refine this sound or choose another.
Also Im not sure if you noticed on the last track with frank ocean, there's a line you were speaking over "Lose someone every release, it feels like the curse is in me (A$AP)" When I heard this I got somewhat emotional because he has lost 4 people on all the albums he released. His father, ASAP Yams, his sister and now ASAP Press.
I have no idea to be honest, however I know (obviously) he was part of A$AP Mob and rocky mentioning in an interview (can't remember which one) that someone close to him died from the A$AP Mob before the release of the music video for A$AP Forever.
1. Distorted Records 2. Asap Forever 3. Praise the Lord 4. Buckshots 5. Gunz n Butter 6. OG Beeper 7. Hun34rd 8. Purity Ring If this was the tracklist I'd give it an 8/10
Montana Of 300 just dropped his album May 20th if i recall. If you are looking for flow and lyrics with that underground sound. Its top notch in my opinion. Probably the best drop this month!
Will you cover some older albums on this channel?? I would love 2 see you react to Stillmatic, The Black Album or any of the oldschool albums you haven’t heard/covered before
Honestly I think you should give Skepta and grime in general an extra chance. There are SO many great artists/songs/albums out there currently. Skepta is one of the OG’s that’s why he sounds a bit basic imo. Listen to Dave for instance, he’s a genius.
Don’t feel like memeing today cause I️ have a real question😂😂when is the next discog vid I’d love to see drake or Cudi or some other big names you haven’t done one for yet
To me personally I loved this album to me it’s my favorite album of the year all albums by Rocky are new sounds to me and I love the music it sticks to me
You can tell how much his mood has changed to be honest, he barely brags about fucking women and buying designer clothes compared to his past work. I think everything is catching up to him now, losing family, growing old and life hitting him in general with all this pressure on him to put out an album even though he might not want to (maybe due to the A$AP curse he refers to in purity) and I think he just wanted to show the world that even a man with everything still has struggles. I fucking loved the album and the new sound he is trying to work with and I'm gonna continue loving it no matter how the public have reacted to it.
In order best tracks on this album. 1. Distorted Records 2. Asap forever 3. Changes 4. Fuck sleep 5. OG Beeper 6. Tony tones 7. Kids turned out fine 8. Hun43rd then the rest pretty good too
I think it's just so different that most people have a hard time liking it because it's so out of the blue of the normal song style I didn't like the abum when it first came out but I love it now
Hey, here for that "put New York on the map" thing. He did put New York on the map. The New York hip hop scene had been on decline for a long time since the glory of the 90s. Rocky blew up big in 2011 and many hailed him as the new king of New York and as a sort of re-incarnation of Biggie.
@@CDTVthaG I respect your opinion, personally I thought the album was pretty good tho, but I can understand that it wasn't your style after watching the video
He’s not saying that he put New York on the map. What he means is that New York fell off once wu tank broke up and the state no longer had any prominence in the rap game. That line means that’ ASAP Mob and him brought New York back to prevalence
Tbh you opinion was cool, but if you give the album another listen like 2 more times and listen to the lyrics and especially with some headphones in you’ll definitely catch on to all the sounds an lyrics in the songs a lot better. people say it’s not ALLA rocky or LLA rocky it’s not suppose to that’s the point of the album it’s like Rocky’s yeezus with all the techno distorted sounds don’t be a basic listener guys keep an open mind when listening to it jus saying
I think the album grows on you the more you listen to it. idk man i love the album and the reaction was good A S A L W A Y S been waiting for it since the album came out lmao
You've gotta give the album a few listens. I didn't really like it the first time but it pulled me in after a few more listens. He gives an early 2010s vibe and I really felt like ik what it's like to be in his shoes I love how he gave us Isaiah Rashad vibes
I’m very disappointed with this album! I used to be such a huge asap rocky fan, but ever since he’s started testing out new styles, he just doesn’t have as much talent when it comes to lyricism, flows, and even his delivery kinda annoys me.
He was never really a lyricist, however you can tell he's not trying to bite off people's flow on this album which you have to respect, like you didnt hear the "AY" flow once on the album and he was trying to convey stories on some of the tracks and in general just trying things out
A: Can we see you without a beanie? B: Can we see you without glasses? C: I know you like the beat for pump 93, so I did some research and found the original RU-vid beat he got it from. Its called enemies by kgwbeats
I'm from New York and I can assure you that New York was put on the map by multiple people. I don't know that much about the wu tang clan but Biggie had something to do with New York being home to a ton of great rappers
