So glad you enjoyed your time with your kids, some great memories were created! My favorite thread is Glide, use it exclusively for longer quilting. For piecing in quilt making, my favorite is Aurifil.
Michelle from Skullbone, TN I love Glide thread for embroidery application, Ilike Star thread and Superior thread for piecing. Also use Glide for longarm. Thanks for asking, loving the comments
I love Floriani for embroidery because of the sheen. It gives it such a “live” look. It just makes the work come to life. For piecing I like Mettler only because that’s what I started out with and have never changed. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, kinda thing” 🤪
Hello there, you 2 peeps. Hope you enjoyed your time away as you guys deserve it. I have come very fond of Glide thread and my other thread that I love is Hemmingworth thread. I have other brands but love the Glide and Hemmingworth. Hope to see you two back soon.
I love Floriani for quilting and embroidery, it has a nice shine to it and there are so many colors to choose from, but I am starting to really like glide thread
Glide is my favorite for my long arm and both embroidery machines - it stitches beautifully, has great colors and is reasonably priced. I also has a stash of Sulky, Floriani and Hemingworth that all stitch nicely on both embroidery machines.
I love glide thread! I use it in all of my machines with no issues. I also use isacord thread for embroidery as I have hundreds of them that I purchased through my years of embroidery.
My favorite thread for my serger is Maxilock. I like Glide on my longarm, have a few types for embroidery and use whatever I have acquired through the years for regular sewing.
I have used many different brands of thread. As I have gone further into this journey I have changed my mind at least a couple of time. I find that I love Glide, especially when I can get the bundles.
I have pretty much settled on embroidery thread for all my sewing and quilting these days. I have so many brands and types, it’s almost embarrassing, but I choose them based on my projects. When I’m doing Kimberbell, I use Glide because they match so well with the fabrics they choose. Glide is also usually my piecing and sewing thread. I buy the 5000 meter spool in grey, linen and black and they are my go-tos for most sewing and quilting. For different projects, I cycle through Isacord, Brother, and Floriani, but I also use Sweet Pea’s thread and Dime’s Exquisite. Depending on the look I want, I will pick from those brands. For my specialty threads, I have pretty much settled on King Star, Robison-Anton and Embellish. My serger uses Madeira threads.
I just love Aurifll best for quilting and Isacord for machine embroidery. They have been real performance workhorses for me, plus they both produce professional-looking results, IMHO.
My favorite thread for embroidery is Smart Needle thread. Co-ordinates with Brother colors on machine. Also comes with prewound colored bobbins in each spool.
I use Aurifil for piecing and Sulky for machine quilting. When I first started machine embroidery many years ago, I a big set of Madeira Poly Neon, then I won that fantastic chest of Madeira Rayon from you guys, so I just keep replacing colors I use up with Madeira. I do have a few spools of Isacord and Glide that were for specific projects.
I really like the Glide for the embroidery and all over quilting. I had only used cheap thread before that so do not have much to compare it to but I love the colors and how well it stitches out. For my sewing machine I usually use coats and Clark, Sulky, or Guterman. I do not have a quilt shop near me so I usually pick up whatever is on sale at Joann’s.
I love Floriani embroidery thread. Never had an issue with any of it and I have some pretty old thread that still runs great through my 10 needle and single needle machines.
I love glide thread, use it in my sewing machine & in my embroidery machine . I love that it has less lint, the shine is great and the colors are so vibrant.
I use Glide thread in my embroidery machine and Aurifil when I’m quilting. My Baby Lock machines have no issues with the thread. Glide also has a variety of colors to choose from.
Glide and isacord are my favorite threads for embroidery and edge to edge quilting. I use aurifil thread for every day sewing, or whatever I have at hand at the time
No worries about a mess! The pic was so small I couldn't see anything you were trying to show us🤷♀️ My space is called Organized Chaos🤪 Get yourself some furniture sliders to put under the feet or corners and everything slides like it's on top of melted butter. I really love the Glide embroidery thread the best! I like how the thread wraps around the bottom n locks shut! I have about 200 spools of Florani embroidery thread that was still in the box covered in manufacture shrink wrap, unopened & unused thread. I was given the thread from the purchase of an embroidery machine and its software as additional bonuses I purchased about 15 yrs ago. So I gotta use what I already have but I love buying spools of Glide that are different hues that I don't already have. I find that wrapping the loose thread on the bottom of the Florani spool is a mess and it tears up the thread!
I started my embroidery sewing trip with arc ARC thread and they were bought out by another company and that company quit making the ark thread after they bought them out and I loaded up on all the thread when it got discounted and had it put away and I am still using some of that thread and I loved it.
My favorite thread used to be Isacord before I started using Glide. Glide is now my favorite, I still use Isacord at times when I’m looking for a particular color that I don’t have in my Glide collection. I also use Kingstar metallic thread along with Madeira metallic thread. These are the threads that my machine accepts well.
I use different threads for different projects. I started a long time ago with Isacord but I gf Ave been changing over to Glide. I use it because I love the way it stitches out for embroidery. In a pinch I can also use for piecing.
I love Superior Monofilament thread for stitch in the ditch quilting; I use Isacord and Floriani for embroidery and Guterman for piecing. I will have to try Deco-Bob for piecing.
I just started using Quilters Select 60wt Perfect Cotton Plus Thread for piecing. It is amazing. Glide and Superior's Omni seem great for LongArm on a Gammil. Glide also seems to be great. When doing Machine applique, I will also use WonderFil Invisafil 100wt Polyester Thread for a lighter look. I like King Tut Variegated for its assortment and quality. I used to use Aurifil for piecing, but since trying Quiters Select 60wt, my quarter-inch seams are always perfect. I want to try DecoBob I just have not yet
I started with Floriani thread when I did machine embroidery. I have over 100 spools of various colors. Lately i have been getting more Glide thread- I love the variety of thread colors- My machine seems to be fine with both. For quilting on my traditional machine I like Aurifil. Hope you enjoyed your time away- goodness you both deserve it.
I am new to Embroidery so I am experimenting with all types and brands of Embroidery Threads at this point. I have used Exquisite, Florani, Isacord, King Star Matallics, and Wonderfil so far. All have worked on my Janome 9900 and now my BabyLock Altair. I have placed an order for Glide, at Al Reno, and looking forward to working with it with my Christmas Projects.
I have been using Isacord for embroidery and it's been great, so many colors, but also have just started using Glide also for embroidery and really like it too. I also use Decobob for piecing. #A-1 Rocks 😊
i have to say my favorite thread for embroidery is...whatever i have on hand and works in my machine. i use DMC only for hand embroidery. and for sewing quilts, i like a good relatively thin thread to reduce bulk in my seams. i honestly don't know the specific names so will be reading through the answers to gain knowledge!!
I have always used Floriani thread for embroidery but I have been hearing a lot about Glide & plan to try it out when one of my Floriani colors runs out!
My favorite thread for piecing is Aurifil. I use various threads for embroidery - Glide, Isacord, Floriani, Kingstar metallic, and embellish matte thread.
I tend to use more glide for Kimberbell projects because it matches so well. I have lots of Isacord too…..which I use also. I have thread sets for a few tiling scenes I plan on stitching. For piecing I use aurifil…I need to get some deco bob on Jeanne’s recommendation!
I use Hemingsworth thread for embroidery machine and Aurofil on my sewing machine. These are the threads that my mentor recommended and work well with my Babylock machines.
I like Floriani and Glide for embroidery. Glide for machine quilting. For sewing I like Maderia Aerofil and Mettler, but do not have these readily available to use.
Glide is my favorite, my machine likes it, and it gives me no trouble. I use this for almost everything... I know I should use cotton when quilting, but I have a better color selection in Glide.... Embroidery is the main use
I use DIME Exquisite thread and also Glide, for machine embroidery. I like them both, the colors are so pretty. Occasionally, I will use a metallic thread for a project, and for that I like Kingstar….i never seem to have trouble with breakage. For machine piecing, I use Aurifil, and sometimes Mettler cotton thread, they seem not to produce much lint.
I am going to be the odd-ball here. I use Sulky almost exclusively for all of my embroideries. I hate polyester thread. I have watched more than one of my students iron their designs and have the thread shrivel up and die before I can stop them. Rayon thread has a wonderful luster and Sulky has all the colors and weights I need to do almost everything I want to do.
I like Isacard thread or Glide. I have a lot of Floriani thread but do not like the wat it feeds off of the spool. i do like varigated thread for quilting. so much fun to use
I never had a favorite until I used the Glide but I also like the Isacord & Brother thread. I would like to know what the two Quilt ladies use since most of my sewing is quilts.
My favorite for regular sewing is Gutterman. So far embroidery is Glide. I never have an issue unless I'm using another brand. Aurifil for quilting. Won't mention here.
My favorite thread for any machine (piecing, embroidery, serging, long arming, bag making, working with linen) is anything made by Superior Threads except their metallic. For metallic it has to be Kingstar.
I just recently tried DecoBob (sp?) 80 weight for quilt-piecing based on Jeanne’s comments and OMG…I love it! I use a lot of Isacord for embroidery. Gutterman is my go to for garments.
My favorite thread for embroidery and quilting is isocord. My machine hates Floriani and I’m tired of fighting with it. I haven’t used glide enough to have an opinion on it.
I prefer Isacord for my embroidery machine - I just have better luck with it not breaking or shredding than other threads. I also use Quilter’s Select for piecing - there is a reason why I like it better just can’t remember what it’s right now. I also like the idea of using the Tutti thread for binding - if I heard you correctly and I think that’s the variegated thread. I’m getting ready to bind a quilt and I might just try it.
I still favor Isacord for machine embroidery. For regular sewing, I like Aurifil. My favorite sewing thread of all time was Belding Corticilli, but it isn’t made any longer.
I use ISACORD for embroidery. My stash is large. I have some glide thread due to being included in ME subscription boxes. I use deco bob thread for piecing. I use Signature cotton thread for all my craft items I sell at shows.
