I agree and the horse is clearly top drawer but for me the pre breakdown Sprinter Sacre was clearly superior. Sprinter at his best comfortably beats Altior in my view.

@@tigerarmyrule I agree with you. In my opinion , the Sprinter Sacre of 2013 was the best I've seen.

@@quidnunc2436 One of the main attractions of two milersis the flashy cavalier jumping and racing style that Sprinter and Moscow Flyer had. They were exciting. Altior for all his great record and obvious class, is more workmanlike and less dramatic. When Sprinter ran it was a event. The attendance willed him to win spectacularly. Not so with Altior.

Un Des Sceaux was beaten but never outclassed,he jumped superbly better than Altior, travelled whole race on bridle unlike Altior but was beaten for toe by younger legs of a horse at the peak of his powers!!

rosser man I actually think it’s alright if it’s done well, but he didn’t execute it very well there. Bit OTT and he kind of got stuck in his words just after that second last. Entertainment is good but you’re right his role is to make the call and not mess about too much

@@lukemccann his champion hurdle commentary was appalling....Ever since Richard Holies commentary Gold Cup between Denman and Kauto Star (which was possibly the best commentary of a race ever) he's tried to emulate that.

My favourite though was the very hard to find c4 commentary of Frankel’s first Sussex stakes win against canford cliffs. “Hohhhh this is a brilliant horse!” It’s when it’s an unplanned reaction that’s what’s amazing. The forced “two two mile legends” crap is just stale. Make the call and allow the horses to hit you with inspiration if and when they eventually do. That’s what makes the best horses (and their best moments at that, which makes it so rare) so special. Race callers coming to life after calling 500 mundane races on autopilot. Cheltenham was never his course and ground was goodish when SS beat him. 2-3 years ago on that ground he was unbeatable, what a champ Altior is tho! and hopefully another CC in March

Yes I agree Barbara, Un de Sceaux is a possible longer distance horse now, I think Altior could win a King George at Kempton, Kauto Star did 2m/3m2f maybe Altior could step up ?
