In all wars since WW1 the greatest killer on the battlefield is artillery. We've moved from rifles accurate up to 1000m, then to assault rifles accurate up to 800m and now most armies use service rifles accurate up to 500m. Even when it was just bolt action rifles they would just shoot in the enemies general direction. So now we just issue most men with lightweight rifles more suitable for urban warfare, as we're not likely to engage in large scale deployments over open terrain anymore and men will just fire away anyhow.
Yes the sound of the burtttttttttttttt is slower then the bullets so if you get shot by it’s giant bullets you won’t really know but if you hear the burttttttttttttt the bullets weren’t targeting you
This man is the pinnacle of what a Machine Gunner should be, laying down suppressing/covering fire, calling out targets and directions, 10 round bursts, all while disregarding his life for the protection of his fellow soldiers. Mad respect. Hope you're still doing well and God bless you, thank you for your service sir.
Kid:"hey mom can I go play airsoft for my birthday?" Mom:"sure your old enuff" *on the kids birthday* Kid:"these airsoft guns look so real" Kid:*shoots gun* Kid:"why isn't he getting up?" Kid:"uh oh" Just because people are being all fucky about this and keep complaining. This is a joke, I know this joke isn't a fucking oscar winning joke.
Imagine coming home from deployment, you hop on RU-vid after 9 months and see this video. You realize that was your A10, and everything you did was to save a dude named Gilbert
For those who don't understand, the enemy was closing in on them from the top of the hill, forcing them to retreat into an open field. When he could hear them nearing their position, he jumped out of the bush to keep them at bay long enough for air support
I meann, you can still kill like that of they are dumb or if you are lucky. Suppressive fire in my opinion is, you need glasses in war and you lost them. But you have an lmg and roughly know where the enemy team is, so you spray and pray. Depending on your luck factor you may even get a kill
**For those who are unaware and think this soldier is just really bad at aiming:** He's a squad gunner. His role is to provide sustained fire support/suppressive fire for his guys. That doesn't necessarily mean that every round he fires needs to actually hit the target. In fact, it's perfectly acceptable if he doesn't actually hit anyone(if he does, awesome). All that really matters is that he's getting rounds in close enough to the enemies that they keep their heads down so the riflemen can maneuver around and deal with them. Also, a few people I've seen think he's not even aiming down his sights. Just remember that the camera is mounted off to the side of his helmet.
@@MrCjkiller101 Try carrying a 240 for 10 miles, they all have their purpose. You honestly have to have your larger guys carry the 240 because it is so long.
Yeah. In long distance recon you eather order ordenance, make a ambush or if you take contact you want fire superiority fast and then eather flank or peel cause few guys can't assault a prepared platoon.
I'm actually trying to educate someone in another video about how real war is not what you watch on Hollywood. The snowflakes will never get it. They think it's all big bombs and fire balls and guns are really loud and deafening like in the movies, and people are shooting at each other from 20 feet away. I can't tell you how many videos I've seen of battles in Iraq or Afghanistan and the idiots think they're shooting the dirt when it's really just the air burst from the gun blowing dust in the air.
This is what war actually looks like. Long engagements where no one gets hit, and the main thing that ends it is by one side outflanking the other making their cover useless.
i appreciate the balls of obsidian this dude had for standing out in the open and just firing, love this dude. I hope you live a peaceful and long life and thank you for your service!
It's frustrating how many people don't seem to know what "suppressing fire" is. Not every bullet is meant for a head, a lot of them are meant to keep the enemy pinned down so their squad can flank and do the neutralizing.
At 5:44 he says “Winchester those motherfuckers”. To those who don’t know, Winchester is a pilot callout meaning “I’ve expended my ammo/I’m all out of weaponry”. So in a badass way he’s saying the a10 should just unload everything it has on the enemy
To anyone who still doesn’t get it: The MG wasn’t trying to specifically neutralise the enemies, he was trying to keep them down and restrict their ability to fire back so the A-10 could come in with air support. That’s what “Suppresive Fire” is. It’s meant to *supress* the enemy. Also, they were defending, which means that they weren’t in a position to push forward or anything like that, because if they did so in that kind of circumstance, chances are, the whole squad would be dead in the dirt before the A-10 even arrived on the scene.
I disagree. I don't believe war can be measured in such a way. It all comes down tot the person put in that situation. But I do believe that no matter how big or small you are - this is fucking terrifying.
Former F-15 guy here (33 TFW Eglin AFB). The A10 is by far the greatest airplane to have in a combat theater of operations. "oh its ugly" they said, until Desert Storm when it was one of the few aircraft operable in the sandy desert environment. Virtually indestructible and the 30 mm cannon was awesome and effective. No negative comments after that, Kudos to the pilots for their low passes.
God does not send men to hell hell was not made for men because of man's Disobedience to God's word Edward II became flesh Jesus Christ his only begotten son because someone rejects him every human being ever made ever produced has a place in their heart to only the god of Abraham Isaac and Jacob through his son Jesus Christ can fill
That Guy Green I am heavy weapons guy and this is my weapons. She weighs one hundred and fifty kilograms and fires custom tooled $200 cartridges at ten thousand rounds per minute. *stares intently* It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon for twelve seconds.
MSgt Beltran was my flight chief in Kadena AB back in 2017. This was taken from the POV of one of the guys he saved several years earlier. He told me about it and at first I didn’t believe him, but upon checking, yeah, literally the exact same guy, name and face. At the time he was a 2W1, aircraft armament technician for the A-10 that did the run shown. Saved a lot of lives from a job well done. A damn good NCO too, and helped me find my way as a little ol’ A1C. God bless you brother, wherever you are.
Wow thank you for the kind words. I have hung up my uniform but I’m a Soldier for our true King. Thanks to all the troops that give their life for the freedom we have.
@@Blessedfromabove2W1 I don’t know if you remember me, but it’s Manning. You were without a doubt, the best flight chief I ever had, and I will forever be grateful for the guidance and support you gave to all your airmen.
Jakob Holz I’m not talking about being the target,it relates to the original question because the bullet hits the ground before you hear the sound, therefore if you are the target you are not hearing it
@@allisondonatucci7164 getting shot doesn't equal instant death. There are plenty of places where getting shot could result in your death without it being painless and instant.
It’s pretty insane. A 1-second burst from an A-10 is firing 65 “bullets” (technically they are cannon rounds), each of them wider than an inch in diameter. 30mm = 1.18inches in diameter. Take a ruler out and hold it up against your hand to see how big that bullet is. And the firecracker sound you’re hearing is not the rounds hitting the ground. You’re hearing the crack of the sonic boom left by the rounds, since they are traveling over 2200 miles per hour when they exit the cannon. Also certainly some trees getting smacked. When a pilot fires that weapon, they say it feels like the whole jet is shaking itself apart. The A-10 is my favorite military weapon of all time because it’s just so damn bad ass.
lol yeah, it can only fire for about 5 seconds. the recoil extremely slows down the a10 to a degree where it has to stop firing and pick up speed again in order to not fall like a stone. ^^
Exactly every time my friends say something about an A-10 i have to explain 1:its not a plane with a gun its a gun with a plane 2:The A in A-10 stands for attack plane ao the A-10 is not build for dogfights its built for ground support and stuff 3:It usually takes like 20 minutes to explain this to them
So true. Douglas Fairchild literally designed and built the airframe around the gun. The plane originally had a tank killer role. That is why the engines are in the location the are, why the fuel is where it is and why the pilot is in a titanium tub. The plane was built before the military forces asked for it, and Fairchild had no one to buy it when it was designed and first built.
I've seen many people joke in the comments, but lets be real for a second, he put down good cover fire for his squadron and if he didn't they most likely would have been KIA. The reason for him "shooting at a bush" was so the enemy would keep down until the a10 came in and rained down hell. Good stuff man, stay strong 💪 Edit: a lot of people think just because they've played cod, that gives them battle knowledge, well guys and girls this is real life, life and death. He made the right choice of suppressing fire, and that is what lmgs are made for.
You would think that what he was doing was obvious. As a kid I would've been confused about "shooting at a bush". If you're someone that doesn't know tactics in war and battles I can also understand that it would be confusing. Anyway, terrifying situation for the enemy. That A-10 going BRRRRRRRRAAAAKKKK!!! followed by the late announcement brrrrrrt(I'mshootingatyounow).
All I’m saying if I’m on the field and here brrrrrrt and I’m not already dead then I’m not even tryna run, they usually come in more that one planes and like it goes brrrrrrt then you hear another brrrrrt and then your dead so no running for me
As a brat, I've had many opportunities to hear stories shared by vets thanks to my dad connecting me to such people.. but seeing it just hits on a different level. Between the barrage of gunfire from the enemy, the man providing suppressing fire and the A10 just laying waste is.. something else. Thank you to all of you men and woman who have served and fought. Ya'll are the best💜
@ja nee yep. He doesn't realize what we're funding. Of course, we want our guys to win. But our guys are fighting battles that they never had to be in. We create wars for profit and we tell the people we're not "officially" participating in any war.
I would gladly follow this man into combat your communication, determination, hardiness, and care for your men make you one of a kind. You sir are a leader we need more of you fighting for us at home. 😢

The loud BRRRRRRRRRT you hear when it fires is the sound of the bullets touching the ground. The quiet humming from the A10 after you hear the loud BRRRRRRRRT is the sound of the machine gun firing, that means that you hear the bullets touching the ground earlier than you hear them being fired.
@@bhargavgawali9426 Nah, the bullets travel faster than sound, and the impact zone is closer than the shooting A-10. Wich means you hear the impact first and the firing last
Bhargav Gawali the rounds are moving at 3x the speed of sound. That is why you can hear the rounds hit the ground first, impact is closer then the plane they’re shot from.
George Ullrich Ofcourse you would if they shoot more than a couple shots. . Hes gonna miss the first ones but theres defiently more to come - he aint a sniper
Nobody hates him. I liked the video a lot. But America has no business in those countries, especially when entering and firing illegally. Amount of countries the US had entered illegally is crazy.
Hello Fans. Sorry it’s been such a long time since I’ve been on, I just relocated to another state and have been finding myself in all of this Chaos. My respects to this 🇺🇸 American soldier. He not only saved his life but his Conrad soldiers as Well. The fully automatic heavy riffle saved the day. Yeah the air plane helped but if it wasn't for that heavy bulky but fully automatic riffle this would have been a 100% bad negative outcome for this brave American soldiers. God wish I had one of those machine guns!!! This soldier had balls of steel. So so much confidence in his voice!!
I love how the A10 has saved countless soldiers during its time in service, but that aside, this must be bloody terrifying. I'm glad I got reccomended this today
@@FieryBubbles i'm safe without them. I love that on his channel you have videos of his children or at least family 11 years later, once he’s a family man and the military life is in the past. Unfortunately some things never fully stay in the past.
@@sadShiro1337 the A-10's cannon shoots 70 rounds a second. that thing rips everything apart. also did i mention the bullets are 30mm? it provides cover for him
Insane friend. I almost didn't believe it! Was that Iraq, Afghanistan, Fallujah? WOW! Your concern to keep your team lying down is very beautiful! After all... They are your friends. Congratulations! Respect to these men on the battlefield
He’s not wasting ammo, the whole point of a LMG is to lay down supressing fire, a lot of bullets that will not hit the enemy but will make sure to keep their heads down if they want to shoot back.
But why tho. Let them come out, so you can actually see and fucking shoot them. This right here is why Verdun was called Hell on earth. They did this shit for MONTHS and nobody made any progress. Let's go back to actuall seeing the enemy lol
Some Random person since they have these camera men following them, but please correct me if im wrong but im still certain that cameramen did follow soldiers to record the battles so you can see the whole D-day operation
It's crazy that you can hear all the bullets nailing the ground that loud several seconds before you hear the sound from the gun... absolute death machine
Edwin Tse I realize bullets are supersonic, I just didn’t put two and two together, assumed they were two separate guns and the sound of the impact wasn’t being recorded.
