Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II A plane of ground attack Monoplaza, Bireactor and straight wing, developed in the United States by the Fairchild-Republic company at the beginning of the 1970s.
Rather touchy. There are many Jet aircraft that are very good. One thing for sure is that the A-10 is the best ground attacker and suits it's role the best.
Depends on the distance that the camera is from the plane and the target. Sometimes you hear the bullets hitting the target seconds before you hear the sound of the bullets leaving the planes gun. Either way, it is terrifying. I'll never forget the first time I heard it live - no one warned me - I almost jumped out of my uniform.
@@roberthudson1959 not because of that, it's because it's over 50 years old and very slow, it also has no stealth capabilities meaning it would survive for maximum 40 seconds in contested airspace with MANPADS and AA vehicles.
They're retiring it because it's very obsolete on the modern battlefield, and guns aren't the most common weapon against tanks. Sure, it's cool, but it's over 50 years old and just not practical anymore.
