Apparently you have to point the plane at target then once you're firing you cant actually see the target so just keep on that same trajectory

Love it! Love it! Love it!.... My favorite bird (next to ole smokie F4) to wrench on. Started my career on F4's & at that time the young A10 Thunderbilt before moving to Hielo's as a crew chief for Night Stalkers (fort campbell). Well the a-10 has at least 3 compasses. His HUD has a digitl one on the top so he knows which way he is going. Also he isnt turning durning the shot, so he is going the same direction when he stops pulling the trigger.

Alan Passat, it's either a vertical speed indicator, which shows the pilot if he's climbing or descending, and at how many feet per minute or it's an altimeter.

The gauge on the left is an accelerometer also called G meter. Only thing after a dive that you need to worry about is not over G'ing the aircraft and ripping the wings off as you pull out.

When the gun fires, the entire aircraft shakes. Each of those rounds has the ability to kill a tank. If you put more than three rounds on target, they're no longer even on earth. They're probably up in the stratosphere.

Well ... that's not really true. A lucky shot on top armor maybe but doubtful. Remember most tank kills in the Iraq wars were f111's with smart bombs. The Hog is good for just about everything sub-tank. Possibly a mobility kill.

You use the Heads Up Display (HUD), think of it as a transparent computer monitor.

Leon Erlandsson ooh ok, I never saw a reticle or anything, so I didn't know if the plane had one. I assume that's what the little square piece of glass is for in front of the window, but you just can't see the HUD itself from the angle the camera is at? Also, I do have to ask, how well could the pilot see a group of men from the sky? Everything just looks really small from up there.

Although it is rather the opposite nowadays, a camera is much, much better at spotting detail over long distances compared to the human eye. In the A-10C particularly, the pilot heads to the target area and uses the TGP (which you could compare to a telescope, or a giant camera) miles before it actually arrives to the enemy to spot enemy combatants, and ID them as well.
