I had a 1990 500 when I lived in ZA for a while. It truly was a beautiful car. Travelled up to Namibia quite often and it was a delight on those roads. I had to leave it behind. The last of them built to last. I have the Chrysler 6.4l 300 now in Australia but have fond memories of the Mercedes. That one is a stunner! PE is a lovely part of the world too. 👍🏻
Do you have any w116's around? I would love to see one in the channel :D Btw, I have always been obsessed with how good the steering wheel you are using on the video looks, that is the best one Mercedes ever made, beautiful.
If you want the vehicle to pull off in first or want full acceleration. Start with the vehicle stationary. Set to transmission switch to "S" for standard, then pull gear selector lever down to 2nd and bump over to "B" position. Now move the gear selector up to third, then floor it... First will now hit red line. Else it will short shift at 4000rpm.
Yes, but not what I was trying to do. A: Not my car and B: my “test” is more about what the average owner would do in the course of regular driving and how the car responds to that.
Mercedes-Benz was such a different company back then. Although these old S classes lack the charm of an old Bentley, they have aged quite well and make a dignified impression.
They were the cause of rust on the wheel arches, horrible things which I’m sure the new owner will be removed. A common period upgrade from the standard plastic hubcaps that they came with and yes, though I personally don’t mind the look of these alloys on a 126, they aren’t orginal.
