[episode 005] Crisis in Karamu Town - GameBoy (カラムー町の大事件 任天堂ゲームボい)
In this episode Saki takes a look at another Japanese exclusive this time for the legendary Nintendo GameBoy, Karamuchou no Daijiken (カラムー町の大事件) which translates to Crisis in Karamu Town in English.
This game is a platform puzzler built around many of Koikeya Company's potato chip brands including the spicy Karamuchou brand amongst others. Featuring Grandma Hi and Grandma Hi Hi, you will work your way through 100 stages to recover the stolen snacks the aliens ransacked from the local snack store. Barely talked about outside of Japan, is this brand based puzzle platformer another hidden gem in the vein of Nubow for the system or a bit too spicy for its own good?
Saki also explains the accessibility of the Japanese in this game to learners of the language, as well as how accessible the game is to those who can't speak or read a single word of Japanese.
