Now is literally the best time to release a new Tenchu game, while samurai and feudal Japan games like Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh are taking the spot. Hell, even Ubisoft try to jump into it with the new Assassins Creed game (tho it faces some backlashes now...)
I'm pretty sure you can pick up bodies by golfing crouch and I think the block button. I know you hold crouch and another face button. Still remember the muscle memory. Edit: sheathe your sword, crouch near body, then press the attack button.
Picking up bodies are only available in the Xbox version, Return to Darkness. Also, based on what you said, you might be referring to Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Asssassins on the PS1. Because that game enables you to sheathe your sword, Wrath of Heaven does not.
Tatsumaru was best. I didnt like how i could only perfom one of his special abilities the one where he hits them with a flurry of hits i couldn't do the one where he launched the enemy into the air and then kicked them.
I remember being so scared during the cemetery chapter years ago. To be fair, I'm still pretty much creeped out when I'm replaying the game nowadays. The eerie atmosphere, the undead's grotesque design, the gigantic boss, I love that chapter so much.
Tenchu's Songs were so Mind-blowing Awesome that I wished there could be a way to watch them over and over again . My prayers were answered when RU-vid was invented in 2005 and Sadame was the first video I watched on RU-vid .
Thanks Chris. I have been trying with a lot of different editing styles lately. This video was me experimenting with stuffs. In regards to Tenchu, ironically Tenchu Z is the only Tenchu game I have not played, as of today. You can start with Wrath of Heaven, if you want to get deeper into Tenchu.
Sucks that Tenchu Return from Darkness and Tenchu Senran aren't backwards compatible with Xbox Series X, if only From Software weren't such a stick in the mud about it
Anyone else remember a small youtuber who made a tenchu 2 video and he showed you everyone's story in parts? I had his video downloaded and now I cant find it anywhere online. It was around 40 minutes and he just explained the story from everyone's perspective until the end with tatsu when he fused the stories.
when sekiro trailers sneak peeks dropped we all thought it was tenchu. but its a good thing Sekiro was such a bad ass game, that i dowloaded rikimaru skin mod immediately on my first playthrough from start to finish.
I know there's a mechanic for moving the bodies. I remember the animations for it for each character and I'm not talking about return from darkness or the psp port. I still have my ps2 copy of wrath of heaven. If I had a ps2 I would confirm
Ah another great game from my childhood. I played this game so much as a kid and it's truly one of my favorite PS2 games. So so many hours I put into this game.
Great video, I used to love playing Tenchu on PS1 back in the day...good times. I didnt know they had a multiplayer mode in these games that's sweet. Would be awesome to see a sequel on next gen consoles.
Good video man, playing Aragami 2 makes me went to this rabbit hole of Tenchu series with many of it's entry, makes me more understand about this one particular entry. Can't believe you only have a thousand subscribers with this quality of a video
This isn’t my favorite in the series but Tenchu is Tenchu and it’s probably my favorite action game series of all time. I love all the main entries. Quirks and all this is a franchise that’s near and dear to me. Now I have a 360 again just to reunited with Tenchu Z.
I've played tenchu 3 and 4 and finished the 4th when I was 10 yo as a little girl that was powerful for me and reminds me of my late uncle bc without him I wouldn't have known the game in the first place it brings back alot of memories and very incredible game I wish it comes back
I am aware that Tenchu 2 and 3 are the best in the series (the PSP title, is not great but its a different take and very underrated).... But I believe Tenchu 2 to be the superior title, the story is the best in the series with all 3 campaigns connecting to one another and character development ... the only thiing that was really innovative was the Skills and "super" (mainly for boss fights), but those are still not necessary in the game ... the older, more restrictive controllers do feel more restrictive, but they also make you think ahead and plan your movement accordingly (kinda like the older Resident evil games) ... the maps in Tenchu 2 are also more varied and have room to explore different route ... Really aside from the controllers (which yes, can be a great point, but I go back to the RE games comparisson) and multiplayer (for those who liked it), but Aside from that and even though the game is great.... I still considered T2 the Superior game
I really wish someone would get the rights to this series and give it closure, and also retcon Shadow Assassins for the wii out of existence, I did not like that one at all, it didn't feel like a real tenchu game in terms of gameplay (with Rikimaru not even using the Izayoi, any swords he used he had to pick up) something Tenchu Z did do despite being a spin off, and the story...omg..gohda's advisers suddenly being paranoid, Onikage getting kiku killed to make Ayame turn to the darkside, it was just so rushed and stupid.
Fatal Shadows does have a better gameplay mechanic than Wrath of Heaven. But, it kinda lacks the replay content. I do plan to cover that game this year, as a 20-year retrospective video.
AMAZING review! I Personally I have played WoH and FS so I did not have a great understand of the story behind, so I really did appreciate the short flashbacks! I want to include that the creator of Naruto was heavily inspired by Wrath of Heaven, really! Yourself can realise that when you mentioned Tesshu's special move! Finally, for a ps2 game, although the developers always seemed to aim for a PS1 retro style (albeit the insane graphical upgrades from Tenchu 1 and 2), most characters manage to feel very alive, despite their dumb AI. Return From Darkness is where the enemies become smarter though. Apart from that, you can see enemies idling, exchanging weird convos with each other, it's really funny, and there are some bits of good voice acting! Soundtrack is one of the greatest I've heard in any game, though personally I found FS's music more emotional but WoH manages to keep you in action.] Multiplayer in that game is the greatest you will ever find in any Tenchu game imo! Overall, an amazing stealth (ninja) game, which I prefer a million more than Sekiru to be very honest. Ganda is my favourite boss tbh xD
Assassin's creed shadows is this game remade. Rikimaru is even in the game but as a kid. His grandma calls him Rikimaru by name which is the coolest Easter egg ever and the game instantly brought my mind back to this game with just watching gameplay alone. Ubisoft forward 2024, Assassin's Creed Shadows gameplay is a must see for every tenchu fan.
mind blown!!! back in the 90s I was so obsessed with Kenshin and the soundtrack... good ol toonami. naturally i couldnt get enough wrath of heaven. istill have the soundtrack on CD. no wonder i fell in love with the music. incredible!
