Some quick facts about the Ara Pacis ⤵️
1️⃣ The Ara Pacis (altar of peace) was built by the first emperor of Rome: Augustus.
It was built to celebrate the period of peace and prosperity after the me of the wars that had been happening around the empire.
2️⃣ The altar was built in 13BC, but it was only inaugurated in 9BC, to be exact on January 30th, on occasions of Livia’s birthday (Augustus’ wife) birthday
3️⃣ The original location of the Ara Pacis is not the current one, but in proximity of via del Corso! It was reconstructed like a puzzle in the 1930s right here, as we can see it today
