I've got a BuckMaster. Got it back in 1985 and I paid $150.00 for it new. Custom 2-toned. Sandblast Grey knife with black cap and black grappling hook spikes. Sheath has the 2 Buck utility pouches attached to it. Still have the original compass that came with the knife.

15 I worked all summer detasseling corn. My mom freaked when I spent 200 bucks on a Buckmaster. Black one, with a nice compass thrown in. Loved that thing! 5 years later it was stollen by cop. 😢

I have a "customized" Buck 110. There was a guy in the 80s that would take your Buck 110 and then grind on the bolsters and handle to give a really unique looking knife. Larry DiTomasso was his name, I think. I sent in one knife, and once I got it back my dad sent in his 110 for the same treatment. Very cool.

My Grandfather's 110 and my 110 sport are the keys to my collection. Over 100 tons of brands. It's always a personal story that sets something apart. It's things like this that make me love the knife world. Passion and community are always up front.

Thank you for bringing interesting content to the Knife/EDC online space. It's fun to see what new stuff is coming out, but it's important to learn about the people, communities, and history as well. I don't know anyone doing it better than you. Well done!

When I saw the Buckmaster, and the title, I said to myself, "Why SHOULDN'T they?" The Buckmaster is a boss tactical fantasy blade, known for its visually stunning appearance more than for its actual utility, which would make it a perfect collector knife. If James Bond never used a Buckmaster as a grappling hook to access a SPECTRE yacht, then that's a clear missed opportunity in the illustrious Broccoli/ Saltzman legacy.

A blade that shows every hammer blow struck in its formation (eg @ 0:26), I find so much more appealing than the typical uniformity of factory blades.

The Buckmaster was way out my price range i the early 80s, however, my cousin had one, so I was able to use it. I recall it on pages of S.O.F. Magazine, etc. The 80s ruled for things like that...

A few years ago a friend gave me a Buckmaster that he’d had for 30 years or so. I had wanted one since the eighties but never managed it. It’s missing the spikes ad pouches and isn’t in mint shape or anything but it is the center of my collection now. I’m not going to ever sell it.

Apparently the spikes on the Buckmaster were designed to be a grappling system. I wouldn't climb with it, but using it to pull Constantino barbed wire would be ok.

I have been collecting Buck Knives since the 1980's and I love them all. I have 10 Buck knives so far. 7 of them are from the 100 series sheath knives. I also have two Buck knives that are no longer made. The Kalinga, makes USA, KALINGA, USA. So I know that dates it to some time in the 80's. And one "Rare" buck knife. The Buck 620 with inverted V, USA stamped on the blade. So if I am remembering right, its from 1988. Its not a bad knife. I guess I bought it because I could not afford the General back then. I now have a 120 General, great knife. Will I ever buy another Buck knife, I don't know. Its not that I do not like them, specially the 100 series. It's just that I am getting older and don't get out as much. I have a Pathfinder, great knife, but it has a bit of a wiggle in it. I think the glue finally dried out between the handle and the tang. I do not want to send it in. Because it has so many memories attached to it. Plus I like the fold over sheath better.

I never saw that particular Buckmaster before (the one he shows early on) it must be an early prototype, iʻm guessing. Was that the one you bought and chased the bear with, early production model, and I am wrong about it being a prototype?

Question, i just bought a volsteed corgi with a micarta handle and i noticed it got wet with sweat in my pocket at work. How do you keep it from getting gross or how to clean it?
@ravingbadger
@ravingbadger 9 месяцев назад
oh man how the hell are u? prepare yourself for a long way to go if you dare to walk this path
@ravingbadger
@ravingbadger 9 месяцев назад
clip the blade on your pants and don't carry it loose in your pocket, 14c28n won't rust that easy because of sweat but oil the blade with anything to prevent blemishes or tarnishing if you don't want them to happen. the micarta will absord pretty much anything and get darker over time. i would not recommend cleaning it but oil it lightly when it is too rough and dry once a year maybe. regards from austria

Cold steel bird and game is about the slimmest, most budget friendly, fixed blade I can think of. Ok steel and easy to sharpen. I have one I rotate out and if you’re like me you can make your own scales and simple alternative sheath. I don’t clean game just use it as a daily whatever knife.
