my favorite part of the movie was when they unlocked a secret passage that hadn't been opened for centuries, and then there's a storm drain that visibly empties into it
Yes, I think I forgot to bring that up in the review but I was literally shouting about it while watching the movie, which I now own cause Redbox cast a spell on me.
Imagine even a competent writer having to adapt an Amy Hennig game in the space of one studio movie. All the slow, extremely competent character building that you don't have time for because you have to play pepe silvia connecting the obligatory setpieces
I watched this in theaters and it let me see how the normal audience reacts to movies like that. Everyone in the theater would laugh at certain scenes and I was there stone-faced trying to find what was funny. It was certainly an experience watching it in a theater where everyone else was I'd say 40+ years old. I was the youngest there for sure.
Talbot is probably a Djinn and that's why he can't actually interact with the outside world besides hitting them with the drugs, and he's trapped in that jar and that's why he's working with the villain because she's trying to get him out of there, and why he doesn't actually try very hard to save her from the pit because he actually just can't grab her.
This movie has so many references and homages and nods to the games.... Where instead it should be directly adapting them?? They were afraid of having fanservice in a project that's supposed to be the concept of "fanservice" given substance.
I haven't played uncharted enough to commit Nathan Drake to memory, so because my brain is broken, I constantly went "are they talking about the rapper?" before then going "no wait, I'm an idiot". Anyway, great review, as always.
26:59 Donald Glover was NEVER the Prowler in either the first Spider-Verse (that was future MCU Blade, Mahershala Ali) OR Miles Morales on PS5 (that was Ike Amadi, voice of Knack, Jeane in NMH3 and Jax in MK11). But what Kris was talking about was Donald Glover playing Aaron Davis (before he became The Prowler) in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was AFTER he played Miles Morales in the 2012 Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. Also, Nathan Fillion was the Drake fan cast and he even got to play Drake in an Uncharted fan film! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v5CZQpqF_74.html
