That is a nice talk. But Muhammad's teachings were not about love and unity. If you read the Quran and the Sira, which is the biography of Muhammad you see that Muhammad was a mass murderer, who raided villages, killed the man and enslaved women and children, and financed his other raids by selling these captives as slaves. He often picked one very young girl for himself, which he called right-hand possessions. the 20 years old Juwayra, the 16 years old Safiyah, and the 15 years old Rayhana became his sex slaves after he killed their fathers, brothers, and husbands. He ordered his followers to kill anyone who did not believe in Islam. The Bahais themselves have been persecuted by Muslims because of Muhammad's teachings.
Hi Todd, thank you for your thoughtful reflection and kind appreciation of the talk. It is true that here has been incredible pain and suffering in the name of God in many religions, if not all. In the Tablets of Baháʼu'lláh Revealed after The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, no. 15.4. p220, it is written, "The religion of God is for love and unity; make it not the cause of enmity or dissension." @@virtues4all It is true that most, if not all religions have been abused by the followers for personal power and control of others. Yes, Christians committed genocides in the name of religion and even Buddhists killed people in the name of their religion. But there is nothing in the words of Jesus of Buddha to justify the crimes perpetrated by their followers. I am not talking about the actions of the followers. I am talking about the teachings and the actions of Muhammad himself. Muhammad was a ruthless mass murderer, someone like David Koresh and Jim Jones, and Shoko Asahara. The Quran does not teach love and unity. It is a manual of hate that enjoins killing. Even though I see no evidence of progressive revelation I don't see any evidence that all these religions are even related. Budha was even an agnostic.
