While I was a freshman in highschool I discovered exactly what I wanted to do in terms of my career and consequently I searched for and found the academic subjects that I would need to learn and know, of which I would apply in my career. So, I decided to then drop out of my sophomore year in highschool and complete an online highschool program which I did strictly for the sake of my parent’s peace of mind. But what I had in mind was to then develop a list of all the academic disciplines that I wanted to learn and know. So, I then began to search for the outlines of each individual academic discipline. To further explain, one of the subjects I wanted to learn was economics, so in pursuit of teaching myself economics, logically, I searched for all the subfields/sub-subjects of economics. I found all the several subfields of economics which to name a few included: microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, development economics, economic history, labor economics, financial economics, industrial organization, political economy and much more. I found all the sub-subjects of the subject of economics, however, I now needed to order all of these sub-subjects in a chronological progressive order, which would start with the beginner level sub-subject and continue all the way to the most advanced sub-subject of economics. The problem I encountered was that I couldn't find any sources that had all the sub-subjects of economics ranked in a chronological order. I went to the websites of Harvard, MIT, Yale and others in hope of finding what I was looking for, but I found out that what I was looking for was not provided by any of these sources. And so this is the problem that I am facing right now, how can I compose an outline of all the academic subjects that I want to learn, and create a chronological and progressive list of all the sub-subjects of all the academic subjects I want to learn, from beginner level sub-subjects to the advanced level sub-subjects . Not only do I want to learn economics, but also business, law, psychology, history, computer science and others. And for each of the academic disciplines that I want to learn, I first need to create a list of each disciplines’ sub-subjects of which I can then learn in order in accordance with the progressive education I’m pursuing. And also I am aware of the fact that for each of the sub-subjects of the academic disciplines that I want to learn, I will need correlating educational material (textbooks, books, etc), but this is the least of my worries because I can easily attain such information. My chief concern is to be able to compose an outline of each academic discipline that I want to learn. So, what guidance can you offer me in my pursuit of this. Are you aware of any pre existing sources that include what I’m looking for, do you have any suggestions of how I approach these outlines of the subjects I want to learn? Whatever guidance and direction that you have I greatly appreciate.

I think I can see what you are trying to do. Since there is no real list that places these things in a "beginner to advanced" progression, the best I can say on how to order this chronologically is by starting with the most localized sub-subject and then to the next most localized sub-subject: so it'd something like first learning the vocabulary (what is currency, what do we use it for, etc.), personal finances (how to budget, how to organize yourself) etc. before going into large economic models. Unless you are able to find a way to get access to someone/people who are already in economics and has a great grasp of the "beginner" more personal aspect of economics to guide you and they are able to develop how to teach you this in a comprehensive manner, it does seem you are going to have to synthesize this information yourself and "learn the hard way," for lack of a better word, as in reading a lot from authors who write about economics, the philosophy of it, it's application in personal life and later in society. I'd say the first thing is, vocabulary and philosophy of the subject, how ot is implemented in personal matters, and scale up from there. It's a huge undertaking, but I believe you can do it if you haven't done so already:)

If you can socialize and are able to get into spaces where economics are talked about through something like RU-vid videos on personal finances to begin with, you can engage with people in comments who seem to have a good grasp on it, ask for where they get this information from or where to go to learn more about the subject, and you'll get there:)

Personally, I want to reform education or develop an up to date kind of curricula that prepares students to learn to be independent learners while also still teaching core subjects to supplement the development of critical and independent thinking for how to and what to use (tools, computers, community resources etc.) and develop personalized methods developed by the students themselves that work for them in being able to learn outside of school:) I'm not entirely sure I was able to word my thoughts very coherently, but I hope my thoughts were able to be understood 🥲

@@eehlohluellwhat you are talking about is curriculum that teaches to the conceptual level where students are learning and transferring understandings to in and between subjects and also to the point they van make real world decisions based on their understanding. There is this thing called concept-based curriculum and instriction or concept-based inquiry that sounds very similar to what you are suggesting in your comment.

For most of the fields you're describing, there is no complete set chronological and progressive order. There are indeed basic and intro courses. For instance, with Economics, you would learn "Intro to Microeconomics" and "Intro to Macroeconomics" before going on to Microeconomic theory and many of the subfields you listed in any order that appeals to your curiosity or learning objectives. This is the way most universities do it. You have courses that everyone in the department is required to take and then you choose electives in the department that you're most interested in. If you want to follow the progress of a university, what you should actually do is: 1.)visit the university's academic department and look at their major requirements. this will tell you the introduction courses that are necessary and what should come first (e.g., Intro to Micro before Microeconomic theory) 2.) if you want to follow curriculum professors at those universities follow, then visit the page for that individual class/course, and look for the syllabus or email the professor asking for the syllabus. Of course, this step isn't necessary because many of the actual materials on the syllabus might be expensive, and like you said you can find the specific materials elsewhere if you want. One thing I would stress, you probably won't be able to get through all your desired subfields for every single field you want to! that'd require years! Probably better to prioritize the fields most relevant immediately then continue learning the others in the background to satisfy your curiosity and desire for growth.
