@@PerthWAtch There is a new version from "Bersigar" with Seiko NH36, second stop, manual winding and day-date for around 100€. It's even better. The case is better finished in that one as well.
@@YummehPyroFlakes thanks for that very useful bit of information! I've just checked out the Bersigar version, indeed, sapphire crystal instead of Hardlex (major difference there in shine and light bounce pop), and Seiko NH36! Thanks for that note. Only downside for me, I'm not a fan of the Bersigar name nor insignia, given the choice I prefer PD in both respects. However, you can't argue with the upgrade in terms of movement and glass, which are both very significant.
@@BUZRBF I've got the Bersigar in february this year and it just won't leave my wrist. It's so comfy even when it's so heavy. Movement is great, not a single scratch on the glass or the ceramic bezel.. Can't complain for around 100€. You can even grab it on sale for 89 regularly.
Bought one of these based on the video. What a fantastic watch. Superbly made, cant see how the Tag would be any better with regard to fit and finish. Of course with the Tag, you're paying for the name and the quality of the movement etc. In my case bezel rotates very nicely. Two links removed easily and I dont know its on my wrist even though it has good weight. The strap is the best I've come across for a copy/fake/homage watch, even better than my sons genuine Tag which has a lot of play in the links Stainless steel is stainless steel generally, and I would expect a Tag to be at least 316. I suspect this Pagani is 316 also. In Oz the Aquaracer retails for around $AUD2000, so my $AUD80 is a bit of a bargain.... We know it's not a Tag, but I'm very happy to wear it...
Thanks for sharing that... glad you are enjoying it. I have had the Aquaracer in hand and I would say it's definitely superior fit, finish, bezel feel, bracelet and not mention superior materials, but you would of course expect all that with the price... to not have it would be a real shame on Tag I reckon. Not all steel is the same either... many lower end Chinese watches use a somewhat lower grade of steel than 316 it seems. Cheers, Ivan.
The Seagull St6 is a bit basic with no decoration but is pretty reliable, accurate and cheap. They last and last without service so a good choice. A good looking watch copied really well.
Thanks for a very thorough, well done review! I really like this watch save one thing, the 30m WR!! I really like the Sea-gull movement that hacks and hand winds, the looks, the size, decent finish quality, not bothered by the 90-click bezel as obviously no one is going to dive with it. But, having a versatile sports watch, even as a beater, it'd be nice to have at least 50m of WR, and without it, gives me pause. Keep up the great work!
I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but I like it! Shame about the bezel, and although I've never been a huge Tag fan, it's a nice looking watch. I haven't had a seagull movement, what's your experience? Thanks again.
Haha thanks for that Derek - your secret will stay safe with me. And the 6000 subs :). I have a couple of Ingersoll with Seagull movements and they've worked very well, certainly by reports do well. Seagull is probably the best movement maker coming out of China and their reputation is well deserved. Cheers, Ivan.
+Derek Hicks the Seagull movements are fine so far as I'm concerned, especially for the price. I have a couple of watches with Seagulls and have no complaints, but moreover the Seagulls have their own significant history
MY FIRST PAGANI. I BOUGHT THIS BACK IN 2018. THE ONLY NEGATIVE THE BRACELETS FELL APART I HAD TO CHANGE THE STRAPS TO BLUE RUBBER BAND FROM CHAINS. THE WATCH IS STILL ACCURATE IN TIMING.
Thank you very much for this! I’ll order one for sure, your reviews are the most honest in RU-vid, if you think it is not bad, then it is enough for me ;)
I have limited experience in watches but I learned that it is not enough to have a reliable movement bur equally important is to have high quality everything else. Unreputable brands may have silly malfunction including screw down crown that does not have smooth action. Bazel that may detach and pop out if you force it in opposite direction. ..etc.
thanks again, always enjoy your reviews! i summoned the courage to use pay pal and must say my earlier concerns i shared with you proved worry-free (alpha purchase). this one (pagani) caught me by surprise--will try to acquire...
Good review Ivan. I thought the same about the bracelet - a bit kind of sharp along the edges. I have ordered a silicone strap to try with it when its back 👍 Overall i can accept the bezel action given the price and i never really time anything so as long as i line it up to 12 its good. Cheers.
@@W0pper1997 im not certain it was ceramic mate. It might have been some type of acrylic. Either way it wasn't going to scratch like aluminium. It might have been ceramic... I just have a hard time believing the specs on the Chinese special watches haha. Overall it was something a bit different for not too much money 👍
I cannot fathom why people have such an aversion to homage watches. To me it's beautiful, so I will buy one , and it is also great value. Branding does not draw me.
I think it’s because there is a fine line between homage (say like Undone chronographs) and near 100% copies, such as some Pagani designs. Say someone designs a watch from scratch, making it original. Another person makes a watch that is pretty much a to the millimetre copy, slaps on a different name, and calls it “homage”. The first guy rightfully would not be very happy - I think that’s the problem some people have against watches like this one.
@Cool Crush Ice Killa Shenhua are one of the worst cheapest Chinese watches. I have one, skeleton and it stops randomly. It was services by a watchmaker and again stops randomly, even without wearing, sitting on the table.
It's amazing how things have changed in 2022 on these homages: - 120 clicks ceramic bezels - all stainless steel - nh35/miyota movement The value for money now is far better
It looks well executed from the video; very good looking. It does bring up the question of what qualifies as a homage and what is an actual copy. Is it a copy only when the original brand name is slapped on dial? Or are we just using homage as a nice word to say a copy? Or perhaps intellectual property infringement is simply where the line is.
Good points raised there Daniel! I think IP infringement is a complex thing and what a court decides one day might be different from the next. For me, I would say something is only definitely a copy when it's trying to pass off for something that it's not... in that way I equate copy to knock off. Others would say that something is a copy when a certain proportion of design elements have been emulated - granted this one has a rather high proportion! People obviously do differ on what makes a copy vs homage.
Daniel Fortin I usually have 3 classes. Homages are inspired, copies are lookalike but with different brands and replicas uses the same brand as the one being replicated. Homages are okay, copies depending, and replicas are a no go. For me at least.
My opinion it is an homage because it looks like a tag but has some things changed like the extentions are at 40 and 50 minutes on tag there are at 45 and 55 for example and the band looks like it but the clasp is different. Personaly I am impressed
Quality for $70 is ok, definitely not the worse you can find and the case here is solid and waterproof. I cannot remember accuracy, please watch video to find out ;)
hi ivan, how are you, mate? i just ran across this review about a year and a half ago. Pagani design, copy of Tag. I watch it just to compare the new one you just reviewed. Hulk Rolex homage. it seems like they have made a lot of improvements. the bezel action is much better now, way better. the cyclops magnification was improved from 1.5 to 2.5. better bracelet and clasp, specially clasp. Specially, I am impressed that they are now using NH35 rather than some suspicious seagull copy movements. about two years ago, Pagani was behind of Parnis and even corgeut, but I think that they now make better watches.... thanks Ivan.
Yeah, totally agree... they have definitely stepped up their game since this particular watch. If I still had this one I might be inclined to do a comparison video actually!
@@PerthWAtch if one of your subscribers can send one to you, that would be ideal. but if not, still you have the old video review that you can split the screen to compare with your new model. personally, I do not know how to do it, but I have seen that in the video youtube. probably you already know how to do it anyway. thanks for your prompt reply and have a great day in Perth.
Thanks for clarifying the bezel action at 90 clicks (who thought that was a good way to go?) It is the same as the PD 1639. I have seen examples of the 1639 that incorporated the Seiko NH35 movement, too bad that it isn't available for the PD 1617. Subscribed and liked. Thanks for a nice review. PS. I do like the green variant better.
Great Review. Just arrived and I needed to go thru your vid to remind myself about the pros and cons. Bezel is too loose, cyclops is off center and Steel bracelet is sharp on the edges (check, check and check) other than that... a pretty nice copy of the Tag Aquaracer. I put it on an EACHE 22mm Oiled Leather Strap. Cheers!
I got my green one today and i swapped it with army green silicone strap immediately. The metal strap quality is not that good. Other than that, it is a decent homage watch. Quite sturdy and heavy. I like it a lot. It is 100m WR though.
They've definitely ripped off the tag on this one. I have 2 pagani design watches they are a decent for the money. I don't know if I will go for th his one
thanks for nice review! - i have ben offered a similar model, but two-tone, also automatic, but the seller says it is a Seiko NH35 in it, and sapphire crystal glass, greetings Levi in sweden
Können Sie empfehlen Medikamente für Furz und Durchfall? Ich Furz wie eine große Trompete. Vollen Klang, wie ein Kaiser Furz. Mein Durchfall fließt wie ein Fluss.
Hi Ivan, If you compare this watch with the Tevise T801a, which one do you prefer??🙈 The seagull movement, is it any good?? Thanks, again for a great review!!👌🏻 I’ve been looking forward to this Pagani Design!!😉
Thanks Torben! This is 3x the price of the Tevise and I think no question at all it's a better product, in all categories too. Seagull is probably one of the most reputable movement makers coming out of China, and this would be better than the Tongji in the Tevise.
Tevise is rubbish. I had the same watch rebranded to some other random mushroom brand (same movement, case, bezel... same everything aside from logo) and it was properly clunky. A purchase I regret.
@@True-os6tg I can't remember the make (Dun? It was some nonsense name) but after comparison on the watchuseek forums, it was indeed the same watch with a slightly modified dial. A lot of these cheap Chinese watches use the exact same materials (a lot of the mushroom brands share factories), particularly if they sit in the same price point, and sometimes the differences are merely a different combination of parts, or straight up the same parts with a different dial. Occasionally you'll see something pop up with something a bit more expensive inside it, but they are more the exception than the rule.
@@bartonez123 I would nt be too sure about that watch being the same Be nice if you had any details at all but never mind .All Tevise watches come with a 45 day return policy if you had bought one you 'd ve been fine , As long as you realize these watches are hand winders with just a little help from auto they are great value for the price of a pizza .I dont regret buying mine at all .Best mechanical watch for $20 easily tho you get what you pay for and if you spend another $50 you can get an homage with sapphire ,,miyota movement proper water resistance etc for sure ,
I have that watch 1617 . At 8 months the second hand would stop every 10 to 60 seconds. It would start again with a tap. I would send it back but don't know where I bought it. Any one out there know had the same problem?
I'm wearing this timepiece while watching the video. It's a really appealing watch but unfortunately mine keeps time very erratically. It can run very decent for a day or two and suddenly, within an hour or so, it gains 7 minutes... Considering the price (52 euros) it's not worth to bring it to a watchmaker.
Thanks for sharing that - I think the design and finish is pretty darn good for the price. A pity about the movement on yours though - I would be inclined to try to regulate it myself in this case.
I just put it in cold water to destroy it because i didn't like it but it still continues to work with no problem, i thought it would be good for people to know. I think i'll keep it ans use it under shower, while diving and swimming until it dies
Not many people would know the Aquaracer ,even watch buffs avoid Tag but it's a fave of mine and this looks like great value ,ps not sure what some people expect for a £50 automatic going buy some comments ,made me chuckle .
Tag seems to get top billing in some of the big grey retailers online not to mention some of the bigger jewellery chains here in oz. Haha yeah I think some were expecting sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, a hi-beat movement, and dive capability in this homage :)
I briefly held a 'Pagani's' take on AP's Royal Oak. Though certainly looked nice with the famous heft that Royal Oak is famed for, looks are deceiving which is almost too good to be true with incoherencies. Its a double edge whereby on one side, relatively cheap priced watch for decent amount of quality materials used with a tank built like movement yet with poor fitting and mediocre workmanship. Eg. Case Lugs are thicker than the supposedly integrated bracelet links and misaligned lack lustered dial with markers. In short, valuable materials in lesser product value.
Not supposed to swim with 30m rated watch, but I suspect this one will do ok because of screw down case back and crown. Like I said in video, this was not my watch.
@@PerthWAtch yeah at this price can't expect rock solid construction I guess. Thanks for doing the gearbest reviews! Always interesting what jems you can find there :)
Hard to tell if it's good from pictures but if it feels good and is solid waterproof, then for $140 it's fair enough, assuming it's got a good Seiko chronograph movement in it, or equivalent.
Perth WAtch thank brother you made my day, coz I have two akribos xxiv, two casio duro mdv, casio tough solar and orient quartz diver all watches are good and I love them
Pagani Design be putting in that work to make affordable and fabulous Time Pieces who could have a problem with that , I don't know who but I'm sure somebody does. Fabulous Watch by Pagani Design.
The thing that people have problem about is that they have put zero work into design but have completely copied this. That’s why some people will never touch such homage watches.
Can you do a review on the Corgeut Black Bay homage/ copy? I've bought one (still waiting for it to come) and it uses a Miyota movement and has sapphire crystal.
Greg Burville not really about buying an SKX. Its about mixing it up and wearing something different for a day or two without spending heaps 👍 no doubt the SKX is the better made piece.
Well spotted, the cyclops is too far to the right - I forgot to mention that! I've reviewed watches with 90 click bezels (Spinnaker for one) and of note is the more expensive Glycine Combat Sub had a 60 click bezel too!
Its not a dive watch but it is a quarter of the price of skx with hacking and hand winding .I've got a couple of good dive watches like most of us so might get this cheeky homage .It's never a question of one or the other with watches esp when dif types at very dif price points ,
Yes, the ONLY Aquaracer GMT model is the Pepsi one - there is no other Aquaracer GMT in the current lineup. The typical Aquaracer (including the one which this Pagani copies) are the 3 hand Cal. 5 models, in which the colored bezels are ceramic. Look it up again ;)
I must reluctantly confess I actually like this watch! I was able to buy some Orient Mako 2 and Ray 2 watches for $130 a piece new on sale that are way better watches! If I didn't have over 40 watches and wanted a cool looking diver style watch for the $70 mark, I would buy one as a beater.
@@PerthWAtch Yes I know that. But even for a dress-watch I would prefer 5 atm - better 10 atm. I wouldn´t buy 3 atm watches at all but that´s only my preference.
automatic 17 jewles needs to be 21 at least, this one will devlope the noisey rotor problem and run like shit .. you can get a swiss 50s watch that will out last this dog of a watch ..jeff..
Really you should not be too picky on a watch that costs less than US$75. For that price I look at 2 main things, the look and finishing of the watch itself, the look of this model is quite a decent one and the accuracy, you don't even mention it, another channel "Just One more Watch" makes the effort of measuring some of the watches that cost less than US$55. Good Quality Clasp/metal wrist band costs more money(*) don't pick on watches that cost less than US$150-$200. If you review Seiko 62 Mas Chinese homage that costs more than US$250 then you can pick. * some reasonable good quality ones already cost more than US$50.
Thanks for watching - this is a rather old video and I currently quote the accuracy on every mechanical I review. Some channels evolve and make changes over time, you might have noticed that? ;) As for your other suggestions, well, thanks but no thanks... I will pick on whatever I think is appropriate to pick on. If there is a watch in comparable price range that offers better in a particular facet, then it's absolutely fair game to point out these faults.
Me dio curiosidad, porque titulas el video como "una gran estafa"? No lo entiendo, al ver el vídeo las críticas son mayormente positivas, no encuentro el punto.
I wonder if the PAGANI DESIGN company knows that the word PAGANI means BAD in Ukrainian language? So it literally means BAD DESIGN in Ukraine. Therefore I would not recommend them marketing it in that part of the world.
Hmmm how interesting... well I haven't spoken to them but I would categorically say "no" is the answer. Plus it is almost certain they got the name from the Italian spots car brand Pagani.
